  1. 3 of my faves at the moment...
  2. P51 Vs P51 mission Autopilot Cruise to Sochi in VA Server Blackshark & Dora Formation in VA Server Short Cruise Around in VA Server Just an excuse to play around with the Topaz filters in PS to see what comes out :D
  3. That seems to have done the trick. Thanks Flagrum
  4. Hi, I added the BS2 to my collection last Thursday and am getting quite familiar with it. Just have one question regarding the auto hold features... When all of the pitch, bank, heading and alt holds are enabled I make adjustments using the stick in conjuction with the trim button and the brake however no matter how careful I am to keep the aircraft level, when I set the trim the aircraft ends up at some squiffy bank angles. Not quite sure what I'm doing wrong. For instance, I get the aircraft flying on auto in one direction (heading) at my desired alt and speed and then I wish to turn the aircraft a few degrees left or right so I yaw the aircraft with the rudder (torque) and at this point I've tried holding trim while I yaw as well as yawing then pressing trim but still, no matter how level I've kept the yaw turn, the aircraft ends up at some canked angle. Sometimes it flies on the heading I want at this banked angle. Some times it is still turning when I set the trim. Any ideas please? :joystick:
  5. Thanks. Not seen this before. Off to watch it now
  6. Thanks Rudel.
  7. I took a look at using the ModelViewer for viewing my skin changes when I noticed along the side of the fuselage there were some numbers that I can't see in the skin template. When I animate the model in modelviewer, these numbers scroll along the side of the fuselage counting down and up? Any idea what that's all about???
  8. Thanks SiThSpAwN. Will do! It's definitely satisfying to buzz around in a skin you made yourself - well not all of it but the colours at least :D It even put me in the mood to take on the FW-190D mission LOL
  9. Thanks VH-Rock :) Yeah, I can see me experimenting a lot more with this. Especially with winter on the horizon and the nights getting longer.
  10. I've just had a go at skinning an aircraft for the first time and this is what I've come up with. It's not perfect but I do like the colours. I just wanted something personalised / unique that I can fly SP missions in. I just followed this video tutorial and went around experimenting with different colours etc. LOTS of layers to play with........ :pilotfly: nN7SKUumQ4Q
  11. Brilliant... Lately, I've been watching lots of stuff relating to flying the Pony IRL for any hints and tips  Any combat training vids would be good too - I could really use all the help I can get LOL :joystick: Hmmm... 7 degrees rudder trim on takeoff... Interesting. I've been trimming the ailerons so as to compensate the torque reaction of the plane wanting to bank / roll to the left when taking off. I trim the ailerons and add in a tiny amount of elevator (nose up) trim prior to take off. I do still get the plane trying to pull to the left when barreling down the runway but it's only a very slight amount which I compensate for by hand with a tiny bit of rudder input. Might have to give the recommended way a shot and see how it fairs. Now to find a spare button to bind rudder trim...... :D
  12. Thank you MegOhm_SD - I'll keep your advice in mind  Also thanks for the assistance with labels. I've not used them yet but think I might need them as training aids at least until I get the hang of spotting people.
  13. A couple of Pony shots from me..... :pilotfly:
  14. I'd deffo be up for something like this. Where training is concerned, what sort of ideas do you have in mind? Formation flying, aerobatics, combat training, all of the above? The only thing I may have a problem with is that weekday evenings can be a bit of an issue for me. I could maybe do one or two nights a week for training etc. but weekends are fine, I can usually commit a lot of time over the weekends. I'm also not that great of a pilot either... I can take off, fly round and handle the pony but my flying definitely lacks discipline and my landings could do with a lot of work hehehehe Other than that, where do I sign? :D
  15. +1 There's obviously a trick to this that I'm missing cos all I seem to do is take off and spend the entire MP mission looking for people and not doing very well at all. If you could score points for taking no damage, putting lots of miles on the airframe and landing safely at the end of every round, I'd win hands down! After an hour or so of what seems like aimless searching, as if by magic an enemy suddenly appears from out of nowhere glues himself 5 feet off my tail and puts me down in a single burst before I know what happened. I don't like to use the crutch known as labels but I fear that's where I'm going to end up. I really can't see a soul when I'm flying about during combat. I've mistaken specs of dust on the screen as the enemy before now. I jest not. So what's the deal with labels? Are they set forcefully by the server you connect to or can I just enable them and if so, how? There's no way I can spot fast moving pixels, often against the dark backdrop of the ground. Some people must have super awesome eyesight or a massive magnifier planted in front of their monitors to dogfight against what appears on my screen as full stops. I just hope that Edge gives us a decent visual edge when it's released. :megalol::pilotfly:
  16. Haha yep, that about sums me up. Been on a couple of combat servers the past few nights and all I've found are pretty much empty skies. Plenty of pilots in the air, just can't find any of em to shhot. LOL :joystick::pilotfly::thumbup:
  17. I started out with FaceTrackNOIR which is okay for a start but not as smooth as FreeTrack which I now use. I made a simple "silly" hat (as I like to call it) out of an old fishing cap with yellow LEDS for the tracking points. One either side of the peak and one on the top of the hat on an adjustable flexible bit of cable (almost looks like an antenna on my head LOL) Admitedely the software takes a bit of tweaking and setting up but I wouldn't be without some kind of tracking now I've tried it and gotten used to it. It makes things so much easier IMO. It took me a good couple of days to tweak the settings and curves to how I liked them and even now I still have to make the odd adjustment before take off but it's usable and reliable once it's set up prior to flying. It cost me a grand total of about £1.00 to build a LED hat and about a further 2 - 5 pence for the red transparent sweety wrapper I have over my Web Cam lens which is held in place with laggy bands to act as a filter. Every homemade setup will be different so it's all about trial and error and not adjusting too many settings at once. You'll spend a good few hours alt tabbing in and out of game for a start but it's well worth the effort IMO. Edited to add:- The only downside to my setup (well, it's not a downside for me but it might be for others if they try it) is that it doesn't handle the Z or Y axis movements very well. I.e. leaning in to the cockpit or lifting yourself up to look over the cockpit but all other axis movements work just fine. I tend to just stick with looking round and up and down which does me. I guess I could modify or tweak my settings or build to work with Y and Z but it doesn't bother me not having those degrees of movement.
  18. Interesting little book..
  19. All I know is, since decreasing the fuel load in the mustang, I can actually pitch the aircraft up more than 20 degrees at over 200mph now without it shaking like mad before tipping sideways :D Even a gradual, gentle increase in pitch to do a loop for example would make the thing buck around yet the Dora seems to fly perfect even when you riddle it with rounds... erm... Probably just my perception of it as a rookie? I've even decreased the sensitivity of my pitch axis so I can't pull back too hard and cause the airframe to shake but then I found I could barely pitch up at all :/ Decreasing the fuel temporarily was the only thing that seemed to help.
  20. From another thread, some advice I read was to open the FW-190 mission in the mission editor and put some distance between you and the Dora by moving its starting position back by a couple of miles to give you chance to set up your aircraft. Next, adjust the fuel weight to around 25 - 30% so the P-51D isn't all unbalanced and tipping and bucking about like a steer with CJD. Both seemed to help me when I tried last night. That Dora just couldn't get on my tail for a change and consequently he never got to fire a single shot :)
  21. Yup, changing the fuel loadout to 25% in the FW-190 Vs mission is a MASSIVE improvement to handling. Dora never got on my tail once and consequently never got to fire a single round... The little blighter still outflew me so I couldn't get a decent solution on him though. Went through two stangs trying LOL.. On the second attempt he was practically landing so I got a few rounds into him before overshooting right into him... Bent up ma prop but destroyed him.. Still managed to fail the emergency landing and crashed but it is an improvement that he never once got behind me thanks to tipping from unbalanced fuel weight all the while. :D
  22. Thanks guys. Will swing by and take a look. At the moment, I'm what you might call an "as and when" flyer and I'd just like somewhere I can jump in for a quick hour or so where there's regular action and get a bit of practice when I can. Although I have lots of days sorta free, it can be at totally random times.
  23. AHA! That explains it then.... Why my stang bucks around like mad at the slightest pitch up when playing the P-51D vs FW-190 SP mission yet it doesn't when I play on the VA server for example despite my SIM and Game stick curves and settings all being identicle.... Do you know, I've been trying to rack my brain as to why it's more sensitive in the FW-190 scenario and I think you've just nailed it for me. Damn thing bucks around like a cow at a rodeo at the moment and tips over depsite being well beyond stall speed.... Need to open up the MIZ and take a look.
  24. I want to have a go at some dogfighting.. Either with experienced players or rookies like myself but can't seem to find a regular place or crowd to practice with. It's just not the same flying round with the AI and I can't seem to find anywhere or anyone that flys stangs in battle very often..... Any suggestions pls gang? Forgot to add, I'm in the UK btw... I am usually best free in the day time upwards until about 10pm GMT (days and times vary) and on weekends but times vary.
  25. LOL, so it is  :music_whistling:
