Hi, I've got a really irritating issue with my X52 pro in that when I'm flying my F-15C I move the throttle forwards just over the idle notch and it zooms my view in. I've been through all the axis commands for the F-15 and yet nothing seems to be bound to zoom. I've had this issue for a while but to initially get round this, I've set up a completely empty profile in the Saitek software to unbind everything including the really stupidily irritating mini mouse however the profile NEVER loads on default / windows startup meaning I'll load up a game and forget that the profile isn't loaded. Then when I alt+tab out the game to enable the saitek profile and the game crashes. Talk about really annoying!!! I don't use the saitek software for any bindings or anything other than to kill that utterly useless mini mouse so I can free up the buttons for other things. Anyone had this happen before and if so, how to cure it???

I had my dad's old 60s Action Men handed down to me when I was a kid. I had absolutely hours of fun in my Grandma's back yard playing soldiers with all the accessories and the tank. Between that, computers and Lego, being a kid in the 80s was BRILL!

I must have been too busy living on Chukkie Egg and Boxer back then to play flight sims... Man, talk about memory lane - the hours I killed as a youth on an Acorn Electron. Hours of joy!

Just thought I'd bring some attention to a composer on YouTube called Thunderstep Music. I really like his compositions a lot - I think they stir lots of emotions. Today, I've been going through a few more of his tracks while I recover from a nasty viral infection to help boost my spirits Couple of sample compositions:- Indigo Prophecy: One of my faves (I used this in a DCS vid I made I liked it so much) p1T6jExSdJ0 Fight Back: 43fCKgcUvcI Stop the Invasion: BroMyYJJjmY He's done loads more... NOTE: I'm not promoting because I benefit or anything like that.. I just really like his music and also think some of them would make epic soundtracks :D Definitely worth a share.

Edge should hopefully bring about some changes to the Multiplayer. What or how, I can't say because only ED know for sure. We'll just have to wait and see.

Dummies Guide for the “MonitorSetup.lua“
Tumbleweed replied to PeterP's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
Just wanted to say thanks for the for dummies PDF. Found it very useful and easy to follow. Got the ABRIS and Shkval showing nice on my 15" second monitor in no time. -
From what I've learned playing around in the old backtrack Linux.. If you come across a hashed password that has 12 or more characters, especially a mix of numbers, letters, lower, upper and symbols then it'll take people an awful long time to break it... As for rainbow / lookup tables - in my limited experience, the public ones available aren't very good. I've had a heap of passwords before now and they couldn't match one. If they really want in then they're gonna needa few of these and they don't come cheap.. http://arstechnica.com/security/2012/12/25-gpu-cluster-cracks-every-standard-windows-password-in-6-hours/ DISCLAIMER: I am not a hacker, I just got curious about Backtrack and the tools so I gave it a go. It seems anyone can do it with some help from youtube but the problem is once you start getting passwords that are over 8 - 10 chars long. Then it takes mega time to try and guess or brute it. Edited to add: This is what lets most people down... Weak passwords or passwords people can figure out easily. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/the-25-most-common-passwords-of-2013/ Hackers prey on people using dumb passwords or passwords they can guess from the info they gather about you such as DOB or other memorable info that might be public knowledge. When using backtrack you would be surprised at how many people I discovered use stupid passwords like those in the links above.. Anyhoo, I don;t want to get too deep into discussions of hacking because that's just getting us off topic. Needless to say, make your passwords long and complicated and chances are they'll never be cracked or guessed. Oh and one final thing which I just have to mention... If you run websites, don't be a fool like one guy I discovered when experimenting around with backtrack tools... This guy had spent ages setting up a dating site and had gathered thousands of members only to leave a PDF on his web server which the web developer provided with EVERY master account user and password. His FTP, web admin, Cpanel.. the whole lot was there for all to find.... Be smart and be safe!

Been eyeing THIS up for a few days... What are people's opinions? Worth the money or not? My current PC (which the new one will replace) is an i5 with 8GB RAM and a GTX560. I'm well out of touch with the latest and greatest PC tech. I'm just wanting something a bit more up to date and more powerful than my now 4 year old PC. I was going to wait until Edge came out but it's looking like I may have the cash to do it earlier than expected :D Obviously I want the best I can get for my money.... I mainly use my PC for DCS, some other FPS games, video and photo editing (not massive ammounts), music and general tinkering with programming. I will add an SSD, probably upgrade the RAM to 16GB and also add a second GFX card at a later date. Cheers,

So I got to thinking, as you do... I wonder if it's possible to create a war games type mod for those servers that don't allow actual combat? I'm thinking for not necessarily VA but places like VA where the flying is good but no weapons are allowed. The mod would allow the simulation of air to air dogfights available to any aircraft without having to fire an actual projectile or worry about having to spawn a new aircraft to start over when you're hit or having to watch hitting innocent flyers. So if you're flying with someone you're getting on with and you suddenly decide I know, I want to practice some fighting, you can just go ahead and do it without affecting other people's flights. A sim within a sim I guess. Would others find something like that useful? Is it even possible to fool DCS into firing non-existent missiles and registering hypothetical hits? For me THE single most annoying thing about learning combat is the having to go through the whole process of starting up a new aircraft, taking off, getting to the fight everytime you get killed.. When you suck like I do, you tend to spend more time doing that than anything else and it sorta gets a bit boring LOL Personally I can't stand labels - I can't stand any un-natural aid. It's a big immersion killer for me but I do feel something is needed to help us rookies that suck at combat. War games are realistic and fighters do train with simulated missiles and hits so it's close to real... Good idea or am I just plain crazy???

Thanks for the replys. I understand if it's just one of those things. Just annoying when it happens - always seems to be at the most awkward times imaginable lol.

Ok so this seemed the most logical place to post about an issue that happened in MP.... Had a spare hour to myself so I thought I'd jump on the VA server and have a blast round in the F-15... Started following some chap around for quite a while, nailed myself to his six and then he crashed. This left me wandering around in the valleys and then, just out of nowehere I found myself "in the zone" like never before.. It was like I had put on the F-15 like a trusty pair of jeans... I eventually found myself flying close to the ground between a bunch of power lines which run parallel to each other about two F-15 widths apart. These stretched out for miles over hills, bumps ridges and I was nailing it.. Never felt so intune with the F-15 before and then FREEEEZE... It's like DCS couldn't handle my sudden new found skills and it broke the game LOL :megalol: The entire game locked up at that point without warning or seemingly without reason - at least none was given. It always seems to happen right as I'm getting into it... Is there anyway I can find out why this happened or even if this was a DCS related issue or some quirk of the server or my hardware / software even? After I forced the DCS process to end due to it being stuck in freeze mode with sound, I checked and VA server was still up and running.... It's not the first time I've had this and I've let it go without too much worry before but now it's cheesed me off so I wanna cure it if possible but I don't know what steps to take to start looking into debugging the issue. I was really really enjoying that flight too :( :joystick::pilotfly:

Wow, thank you all for the kind offers. I'll be checking out each and every squad later tonight when I have a bit more peace and quiet in the house and can hear myself think lol. Bit hectic here on Sunday - with getting the kids ready for school tomorrow. I don't want to come across as being picky - I just want to make sure the place I call home is the right place both for me and for the squad I join and that I can deliver what is expected. Thank you all again!!! :pilotfly:

Voice Control - Evasive Maneuvers
Tumbleweed replied to Tumbleweed's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hi guys, Sorry I completely forgot about this thread LOL. I've attached my KA-50 Voice attack profile. All people should need to do is import it to their Voice Attack software. I've not set up everything to voice control, just the essentials I couldn't map directly to my Saitek X-52. I don't use the Saitek software so I bind what I want to my X-52 through DCS and assign the rest to voice. I've found it works best if you do the voice training stuff with the mic where it gets you to read paragraphs to learn your voice - it really does help. Also, don't set the mic too high and don't have background noise else it occasionally interprets it as a command. I made the mistake of binding Eject to a voice command (eject is still mapped in the voice profile if people want to remove it they can) and was half way through a mission when the Mrs walked in, started talking and suddenly I was unexpectedly forcefully ejected from my KA-50 LMFAO :megalol: All in all though, it's the best $8 I've ever spent. In fact, I updated my KA-50 profile the other day to include zoom in and zoom out commands for better viewing range in combat. There's no way I can remember all the keyboard shortcuts and joystick commands to fully operate models such as the KA-50 or the A-10 so it had to be voice commands and a cheat sheet at the side of me LOL Glad it's helping some of you guys. To be honest, when I found out about Voice commanding and how long it had been around, I felt pretty much like a neanderthal hehehehe KA50-Blackshark-Profile.zip -
Hi, I'm looking for a relaxed squad or group of regular people to fly DCS with preferably in Europe or UK (for ping reasons only). I've been in the air now for about 6 - 8 months on and off and I now feel I'm ready enough to group up with people to fly missions and train with etc. Due to my erratic life I'm not looking for any serious squadrons because I'd be lying if I said I had the time to commit to the requirements I've seen some squads demand. The problem is, one week I could be available on a set day, then the next week something springs up and I can't make it. For that reason I wouldn't want to commit to anything serious so I'd just like to meet a group of people that enjoy a mix of flying missions and training or sometimes just screwing about on a reasonably frequent but relaxed basis. The modules I currently own for DCS are displayed in my Sig but the 3 aircraft I have the most flight experience with are the F-15C, the KA-50 and the P-51D - although as I discovered last night, too much F-15 flying has made me rusty on the 'stang lol. With regards to training, I am committed and I'd like to get the most out of the aircraft I fly but as I said, my free time is erratic so I get on as and when I can. Sometimes that can be frequently and other times I maybe get a couple of hours in the evenings here and there. If there's a relaxed friendly squad or group out there that can offer me and my warbirds a friendly hanger I'd love to hear from ya! A little info about me and my experience:- Name: Mike Age: 34 Location: Midlands, UK Total Hours Flown: around 50 - 100 hours (exact number unknown) Skill Level inc Combat: beginner - pointy end forward? Favoured Aircraft: 1. F-15C 2. KA-50 3. P-51D Teamspeak: Yes, although a little mic shy Rig and Sim Equipment: Win7, i5, 8GB Ram, GTX560-OC, Saitek X52 Pro (no pedals), 22inch HD Samsung Monitor, Freetrack - Planning massive upgrade next year after edge is released and stable. Other Skills, Info etc. In any other spare time I get I enjoy building missions for DCS, web design, a little programming in C, C++, PHP and MySQL (not an expert), Electronics (micro-computers - Arduino etc), FPS Games, Documentaries, Films, Music - the usual. I am naturally a quiet person but once I get to know people and feel comfortable with them I come out of my shell but be warned, I have a quirky sense of humor. Some people get me at first, some people don't. Some would even call me eccentric at time LOL Oh and my memory.... it's terrible LOL :megalol:

Thanks guys. I got AutoMan working and also figured out why the F10 options weren't showing earlier... Had radio assists disabled in the ME. 3 groups of 2 aircraft each now spawning on request :D Many many thanks to all

Hi, This isn't working for me, I think I'm doing something wrong. So far I've got two F-15Cs on the map, both set to client (one for me, one for my friend). I've got MIST and the AIregeneration script to load and I've got my trigger zone set up as per the instructions and called it AAtrainingarea. What I don't understand is where it says insert a plane and name the unit AND the group as per the tables in the AIregeneration script (test1, test2 etc.). I think I get what it's asking but naming the unit and the group? I don't understand how to name the Unit??? I've tried adding enemy aircraft and naming their group names as test1, test2 etc respectively but all I end up with is a bunch of enemy aircraft flying round the trigger zone as soon as I get into the mission and no F10 option... :pilotfly:

Thank you very much SNAFU. I'll give this a try later and see how I get on.

Had a look though the forums but couldn't find specifically what I was after so apologies if this has been asked before. In one of the standalone F15 missions, you can use the radio commands to spawn pairs of enemy fighters using the option labelled other. I've since installed FC3 and can't find that mission via the mission editor to look and see how it's done. Any ideas? What I'm trying to do is create a 2 player (client) MP map for me and a friend just for some private one to one training. I want to be able to fly with him to instruct him and then call up enemy fighters as and when required. Also, a second question... Is it possible to respawn the group of enemy fighters once they're dead? Many thanks!

Happy birthday. Many happy returns

AFAIK one skin fits all. The way I understand it is you create your skin, then you add it to the relevant aircraft folder in DCS World and then you can apply the skin to the aircraft belonging to any nation. E.g. if it's an A-10 skin, add the new skin to the A-10 folder in DCS then you can apply it to any nation's A-10 aircraft by selecting it in the mission editor. I'm sure if I'm wrong someone with more knowledge will correct me.

WOW... I'd totally forgotten about this.. What can I say other than thank you very very much!

Is there a WW2 dogfighting server with labels on?
Tumbleweed replied to Jamesp1's topic in Multiplayer
I'd love to play more combat missions / dogfights online but I don't simply because I can't see anyone at range which puts me at a massive disadvantage. I've tried all this zooming in and out business but it doesn't feel natural and it gets hella confusing quick. At least for me it does. Between working all the controls, working the keyboard and using freetrack I feel like I need to be an octopus. It doesn't help when your memory is terrible either lol. I've thought about this for a while now myself and what we need is a noob friendly combat server. A place just for those finding their feet that can fly amongst their own skill levels without worrying about spending 20 minutes getting in the air only to become pro fodder 2 minutes later. I'd love to set up and host something but it's so difficult with how DCS is at the minute. I wouldn't know how or where to start. Plus I don't have the hardware or the bandwidth. Hopefully when and if we get a dedicated server solution in Edge, it will be easy to rent out some rack space somewhere and set something up (though I imagine there are plenty enough people waiting for the same thing with the same idea). The only other option then really is to ask one of the WWII server owners if they would consider running a Rookie night once a month or something. A simple MP mission for noobs to get in the air and dogfight with minimal labels - something like a dot. I know I'd DEFINITELY get in on that if they did. -
Public inquiry. What is your PC video card?
Tumbleweed replied to Chizh's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
GTX560 though it was that long ago when I got it, I can't remember if it was the OC or TI version lol. I'm massively due an upgrade but am waiting til Edge!
