  1. Rule of thumb for pilots is not to reset a CB in flight as it probably popped due to a fault. You don’t want to keep resetting a CB and then have the wires catch fire. In a tactical instance where you know there wasn’t a fault… and you’re simply activating/deactivating a desired system, it’s up to the pilot’s discretion.
  2. That’s awesome! Looks like it’s all basically there… they just need to add a bit of code and make them clickable. And yes, they should be able to be pulled out and pushed in. Mechanics can make the plane “safe for maintenance” by pulling a CB and tagging it out while they work, and then reset it once they’re done and the plane is ready to fly. I had heard accounts were Pilots told their Crew Chiefs to “wire a switch” or “re-wire” their guns so they could fire inboard and outboard guns separately. IL-2 1946 even has the guns on 2 separate buttons which always annoyed me. I never thought it sounded historically accurate, and the thought of crew chiefs rewiring the guns just sounded absurd. But now that I see it was just a couple circuit breakers to manipulate, it all makes much more sense! Also… “just as easy not to hold the trigger down” does not double your ammo count like manipulating the circuit breakers.
  3. I’m interested in the “left wing inboard guns” and the “right wing inboard guns” circuit breakers, specifically. I see the mouse cursor change, but I haven’t been able to manipulate them. In a A2A engagement I’d want all 8 machine guns firing, of course…. But if I was in a low threat environment and I was strafing a convoy I’d like to pull the CB’s of half my guns to make my ammo last a little longer. It would make for an interesting experiment, anyways!
  4. I hope this gets implemented in an “official” update. I hate clicking a button for up trim… letting the nose rise… and then clicking a button to down trim and watching the nose lower…constantly….. I can never trim it nice and steady… always little micro movements… ever so slightly porpoising my way across the channel!
  5. I experienced the same twitching and wobbling. I added some curve to my joystick settings. I flew the P-47 again and it still twitched... but not as bad. I added more curve... but I was disheartened because I didn’t think I should have to add so much curve and I was afraid maybe DCS did something wrong..... until I saw this video that explains why WW2 birds feel twitchy in DCS: https://youtu.be/Gs2m-xlyK7o I added a little more curve (about as much as in the video) and it flew more solid... but still had a bit of twitch to it. looking in the external view I noticed my rudder would flop over when I was moving my ailerons. I checked my joystick settings and realized there’s a sharp spike in the rudder axis near the dead zone of my joystick. I think it’s a worn pot or maybe a dirty pot. I added (I think) 15 to the dead zone and now it flies perfectly with my old ass $20 joystick.
  6. Oh okay. I guess I am misremembering... I thought they originally had them when the D-30 was first released... and the D-40 and the “early” was released later in an add-on.
  7. Yes but the 2 D-30 models should have bazooka tube rockets.... and now they don’t.
  8. I tried making a mission after the latest update and noticed the D-30 (early) and the D-30 now only have 3 hard points and can no longer carry rockets of any type. is this what everyone else is finding or did I mess up somehow? Thanks!
  9. So glad you made this skin! This is my default skin anytime I wanna fly around and do touch-and-go’s! Was there ever a generic 397th FS skin that went with this scheme? Thanks again!
  10. I’ve seen some really great liveries lately. I’ve noticed some of these artists have made generic paint schemes that allow you to change tail numbers and even squadron code letters! Is there a way to change nose art? IL-2 1946 had a feature like that. It was a file of 20-30 nose art files that you could pick from. Is this a feature that could possibly be added into DCS?
  11. I understand the importance of “generic” skins for multiplayer use... but I’d hate for a bunch of generic skins to win out over some of these truly artistic and beautiful liveries!!! Maybe Eagle Dynamics can do “Top 3 Fictional” “Top 3 Non-Fixtional” “Top 3 Generic”. This adds up to 9. After the winners are announced they can put up a poll and we can all vote on the last winner as a “People’s choice.”
  12. The real winners are us end users getting to enjoy these skins (at our hard drives expense! )
  13. Awesome! Post it up once you make it! I really hope this thread continues even after the competition ends!
  14. I always liked the P-51 livery “Big Beautiful Doll.” Someone needs to make a P-47 version called “Bigger Beautiful Doll”! Lol! Im gonna have to start learning some Gimp tutorials on how to make skins! You guys and your talent has really inspired me!
  15. Yes! All these new liveries make the stock liveries pale in comparison!!! BTW.... how do I delete the stock liveries? Lol!
  16. YES!!! I understand it probably doesn’t make business sense to give away a free module for EVERY skin competition.... but they could give away some bonus bucks or whatever they call it (that stuff you earn when you buy a module)
  17. I didn’t know you could edit shoulder patches! I never noticed till now! That’s awesome!
  18. “Eileen” was both a Razorback and a Bubbletop... and resembles “Snafu” quite a bit! It’s not too far off to think that “Snafu” could have been carried over to the newer models as well! The skin looks very nice! If ED is listening... I’ve got my money ready for a Razorback!!! It would be worth it just for the skins some of these guys can put out!
  19. B-e-a-utiful BoNidle! I used to have a RC P-47 painted up in this scheme! It’s my favorite and now I can fly it around DCS without the anxiety of a crash costing me money! Top notch skin!!!
  20. I’m so excited! Your attention to detail is second to none!
  21. Looks like you’re right, as the Thunderbirds tour other countries, they add flags to their scheme. I’m guessing the earlier Thunderbirds would have less flags than the current Thunderbirds, as they add more countries to the ever-growing list: https://www.acc.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/200393/thunderbirds-add-finland-performance-to-storied-history/
  22. The F-84 Thunderbird scheme is gorgeous!!! I don’t mean to nitpick, as I love it as is, but I think (not 100% certain) the vertical red band just aft of the canopy is a “plane of rotation” safety marking that is specific to the F-84. In the event of a catastrophic failure of the F-84’s jet engine, that red band denotes where the turbine blades would explode out of the fuselage from. They have those same markings on C-130’s as well, called “prop arcs” letting you know that if the prop fails and you’re in that area, you’re probably gonna get hit by prop blades and debris. If you were going for a realistic “what if” scheme, the P-47 wouldn’t have that marking as it (obviously) didn’t have a jet engine..... but if you were doing a “homage to the F-84” then that marking is perfectly fine. Either way, it’s absolutely gorgeous and it makes me wish the P-47 was a real Thunderbird!!! It’s just too perfect of a fit!!!
  23. ^^^ THIS!!! Look at drag racing. At the higher end of drag racing it can take 100-150 hp just to go a tenth of a second faster!
