Yeah I’d totally love the latest version of the Razorback! The model right before they went to the bubbletop.
-
Just in case Eagle Dynamics is listening... once this P-47 is released... I will still buy a Razorback, a P-47M, and a P-47N!!! Keep them coming!
-
Anyone else hoping the P-47 will be available as soon as the “free for all” sale ends?
-
I’ll just be glad to have the P-47 in my possession... to be able to look it over, flip all the switches, and get it started..... which is what you could do in Microsoft Flight Simulator.... but now I have live ammunition! I’m sure I’ll suck at it for quite some time... but I’ve always loved the jug so I’ll keep at it. I can always strafe trains or bomb panzers! We can’t all be aces!!!
-
Maybe if you can get 4 or 5 P-47’s together, load up 3 500lb bombs each, climb to 30k and head towards their runway. Either they stay low and get bombed, or climb to fight!
-
The P-47 should be the best high altitude performer. Climb to altitude and wait for them to come to you, or circle above, pick your target, and pounce. It all depends on the pilot and how he utilizes the plane’s strengths.

Lol! I’d just be happy with panels that open! It would also be useful as part of the damage modeling. If your ammo panel gets shot open you may lose all the ammo belts out of that wing!
-
Here’s another feature I’d like to see someday for the warbirds: When I returned to base for some repairs in my A-10 I was pleasantly surprised to see several panels open and close as the A-10 was lowered back to the tarmac. It would be neat to see the P-47’s ammo panels open when requesting refuel/rearm. Bonus points if you can see the 50cal ammo belts replenished!!!

Nick Grey said “May” in the Grim Reaper interview.

Some damn good shots of the P-47 in this latest video to whet your jug appetite!!!

P47D-30 Senta A Púa! - Brazilian Air Force Skin?
Barrett_g replied to ThorBrasil's topic in DCS: P-47 Thunderbolt
This update from quite awhile back has some paint schemes shown. Ones foreign... but I think it’s Mexican? Not sure. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3605822&postcount=156 If it doesn’t ship with a Brazilian paint scheme I’m sure it won’t be long until someone makes one! -
Would love to see the GBU-39 for the F-16 and hopefully for the future F-15E module!
-
Apologies for the bump, as this thread’s a couple months old.... but I REALLY want a Bagram/Kandahar/surrounding area map!
-
Which aircraft are you most interested in?
Barrett_g replied to Griffin's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
I want a PBY Catalina... the black cat version with machine guns in the nose, so I can dive on Japanese transport ships at night in the Marianas! -
What’s everyone going to use for throttle control? I believe the P-47 has 4 levers. Throttle, prop, mixture..... and turbocharger?? Not sure on the last one... and also not sure if it’s full sweep or has several notches for the stages?
-
I just wish they’d hype it up more... especially during this quarantine, it would be neat to get weekly developers note’s or videos showing some of the things they’re working on. Didn’t they have a series of F-16 videos before that module was release for early access?
-
Can’t wait to do this, except in DCS!
-
I want to at least have the CBU’s.... maybe they can figure napalm out later... they’re gonna need it for Korea and Vietnam scenarios eventually anyways.

Short video clip of P-47’s dropping napalm: https://www.criticalpast.com/video/65675059363_German-pillbox_bombing-a-village_P-47-aircraft_dropping-bombs

Don’t forget the cluster bombs: https://www.worldwarphotos.info/gallery/usa/aircrafts-2-3/p47/bomb-cluster-fitted-to-the-wing-of-a-p-47-thunderbolt-of-the-78th-fg-12-july-1944/ And napalm! Napalm was mixed and then poured into external gas tanks. They used a special gas cap that was fitted with a fuze that, when dropped, would spark upon impact and ignite the napalm.

Here’s a good video with what you’re asking for. The author plots the known airfields and overlays it with other known information and plots out a rough square of what he thinks the area of the map will cover. Should be fairly close to what we see when released.

Here’s some of the only info I could find: http://home.earthlink.net/%7Eatdouble/%7E318thFighterGroup.Saipan.html

I hope they do a 1940’s version of the Mariana Islands. In the theater P-47 were loaded onto carriers by crane and shipped out to the islands. They were launched from the carriers and landed under gunfire on the newly rebuilt runway there. They performed almost none stop CAS for the Marines while they overtook the rest of the island. From there they bombed Tinian and helped the Marines push through that island as well. Unfortunately it’s hard to find much info on the P-47’s role in all this because this part of history is over shadowed by the Hellcats and their “Marianas Turkeyshoot,” which was happening north of the island while the P-47’s were dropping napalm on the enemy.

I found some info on the dive flaps, but not speed limits. I honestly don’t think there’s a maximum speed limit as they were used in emergencies to pull out of dives when speed were reaching the sound barrier. You wouldn’t retract them because you were going too fast... you’d just keep pulling that flight stick back while hoping the plane would pull out!
