Thanks Majesco, whatever brands are available in the US are available here. I had 4 gig of Buffalo ram but I will now check out corsair etc. I have been looking at the new AMD Phenom CPU and the 3000 series ATI Video Card, (Brother in Law is an engineer for AMD/ATI so I feel family loyalty may be neccessary :smilewink:). However it appears Lock On and IL2, (the games I play most) use open gl and they tend to play better on Invidia video cards. The search continues! If anyone has any other suggestions it would be much appreciated.

Due to a recent flood of my basement caused by 1 metre of melting snow, 3 days of 10c temp, and 3 days of rain. The good news is my insurance will cover replacment of my game machine. So my question is what do the experts think I should invest in? Video Card? Motherboard? Ram and # of gigs? CPU? Soundcard? Hard Drive? DVD R/W? Thanks for the input.

Thanks GOZR, looks like I can go shopping. My insurance is covering. I hope I can get set up sooner than later. I sure miss flying the imaginary skies and the community! My wife sees me more than she is used too. I am not sure if she thinks that a good thing or not.:music_whistling:

Thank you Gents. I would try this however following my post last night I awoke this morning to find my basement flooded, (due to 3 days of 10C weather and rain and 1 metre of melting snow. My computer rested on the floor under my desk and received water damage. The good news is my insurance may cover the cost of a new one! See you all sometime soon!

Hi all, I installed the Mig29 Fuel tank using MODMAN (by Knells & Wallmis) and I have tried all of the in game Shadow affects and still it appears black. When "all shadow" is chosen the tank disappears. Am I missing a line of code in the graphics config? Is there another Mig29 fuel tank I can use to replace the default? Thanks for the help.

Having sufferred through learning curves playing IL2 and LOMAC I would not want to fly any other way but full realism. I learned by getting on comms with experienced pilots, ask questions, (at the appropriate times), and listen carefully to what they are doing, and above all that prepare to be killed many times for about 3 months!:thumbup: After learning from others you will enjoy the full realism settings as well and wonder how you ever played with tags on etc. IL2 being a larger community has servers that offer tags etc, the size of this community lends itself to the hardcore pilots who enjoy immersion. Change your settings as suggested by Viper and get on comms. You will find most pilots helpful and speed up the learning curve. My 2 cents.

Default skins? Duh, I guess I better figure out how the skins work in game. I downloaded a skin for the F15 and that is the only skin I see in game now. Can you place skins in and out of the folder at will? Can someone tell me the steps to put new skins in what folder etc. I am sure it is not that complicated. I know how it works in IL2. Thanks for the help.

I have seen movies with the FA 18 in them using the RCAF Skin. Where can I find this skin? I have looked at all of the usual websites, Lockonfiles, Combat Ace, etc. Does anyone have this skin. The latest Redflag Movie made by Mitor showed the FA/18 with the Canadian Skin. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the update. How can I utilize this in IL2 1946? I have used this for 2 years in Lock On and love it. I would like to use it in IL2. Thanks for the help.

I had a similar problem, although I don't run Vista. Make sure your aspect number in your conf.grphs is set properly. For example if you are running a resolution of 1280x1024 your aspect is 1.25, or 1280/1024. The default is 1.333333 etc. Each time you mess with the in game grpahics menu you have to reset this ratio. I hope this helps.
