Heh.. I started flight sims/games on Commodore Amiga somewhere in 80s/90s: Falcon, Their Finest Hour: Battle of Britain, Fighter Bomber, Combat Air Patrol, F/A-18 Interceptor, F-22 Retaliator, F-15 Strike Eagle, F-19, Gunship 2000, Wings... They weren't all that accurate sims, more like games often but at the time they were awesome. Now we are getting simulations for home computer that were incredibly rare before... Exciting times ahead ;)

Interesting though but if Nevada is released soon(ish) then I could hold on waiting for Normandy and getting to know the new planes thoroughly.. ;)

If comes to, I would rather see the extra cash used for module development instead of the physical stuff. I admit, having flight manuals in bookshelf could be interesting but I would rather see it spent of actual module development. At least on my part of backing you have my full permission to use it on development entirely instead of physical goodies.

 Massive respect and thank you to ED for saving this project.

This looks to be in great shape already  Also, pretty good information-list to show whenever someone asks how much work there is in a simulation module ;) Already getting excited about this :)

Welcome and best of luck with the project! Looks good already

Oh yes, question marks in title make it so easy to confuse with actual release announcement.. :music_whistling: I do hope to see release very soon anyway :D

Take a rest. No conspiracy here. I'm surprised this didn't happen sooner, reasons already found for example here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=125458 So just wait next sale on Steam. I'll stop feeding trolls now..

Well, glad to hear some news again although I'm sad about the fact that there is one studio less now.. Btw, those screenshots look amazing!

Excited about Sabre but will only buy if authentic theater is provided

True, but also look at Belsimtek: they have made Huey, Mi-8, F-15 PFM and F-86F and usually they don't talk much about release until they are ready for release..

Same here in Finland.. Especially older (retired) people just wouldn't accept something even for free even if it was vital, it would be that much shame to them.. Luckily things _have_ changed.

How much to make a module for DCS.
kazereal replied to Marko321's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
What level of detail? Something of a normal game-level or actual study-simulation level? The more historical inaccuracies there are and more details to model the more work there will be and higher the cost. -

Note that Belsimtek does not "advertise" internal work much and they do keep delivering at steady pace.. Huey, Mi-8, F-15C PFM, F-86F.. So while I like the communication, I like the products even more ;) -

Usually when people are busy or overworked even the smallest tasks seem unreasonably large.. Or maybe there's not much to "show", just work on background technical details that really can't be shown on screenshots or can't be disclosed yet.. There's tons of reasons actually. That said, summer vacations will be starting in many places soon so it would be good to hear something before then, just to know that work will resume after a holiday or something like that. -

Really???!???!? :shocking: I think that's the first I've heard of that.. Great news if true. Edit: According to original announcement they will be considering that possibility at some point but nothing further than that. So nothing definite about such map yet. -

kazereal replied to Bahger's topic in DCS: F-86F Sabre
Considering EDGE is finally being integrated to DCS and that old map engine has been a large limitation on the maps I think we are getting to good position of having more maps and theatres. So hang in there for a while still.. :) Now this I find hard to believe.. You don't find it distracting that you don't feel G-forces, smell kerosene or generally that you sit in some kind of apartment instead of an actual aircraft..? ;) -

I think you are right since RRG is using that for Normandy map I believe. -

Consider that RRG also has the whole Normandy map to deal with while VEAO does not have that in their plate.. Also if RRG is doing work on EDGE integration (alpha/beta testing etc.) then other partners/3rd parties might not have that to do either. So there's plenty of unknowns which are pretty big and time consuming tasks. Hope to hear *some* news soon though.. -
Mediterranean Theater of Operations
kazereal replied to Whiplash's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Hmm.. PTO as in Pacific? Lots and lots of water.. Meh, fine with me, bring it  (Of course the occasional island or two would be appreciated as well.. :D) -
Possibly just problem with the installation or the configuration files. Especially if configuration files are carried over from a previous installation and they were not updated during installation. I would suggest removing the configuration files and starting DCS to recreate them. Edit: it does not mean "EDGE" as the new rendering engine but a part of the process of rendering, for example GUI obviously means it's about main menu rendering which was not finished (black screen). Also, if there are mods which add custom main menu screens remove or upgrade those since they might have the problem now (not updated to 1.2.8 correctly). Edit2: Also, that's not even the source of the problem.. My log shows same even when starting properly.
