  1. Do you have admin rights on the computer? (Or power user at least..) Also, are you installing under "program files" or somewhere else? I recommend using something else since that place has more restrictions in installation.
  2. That is true. It's hard to fix AI or other things when there's not enough CPU resources to run them correctly.. And in the meanwhile GPU is under utilized..
  3. Nice job there Krupi!
  4. As someone in the software industry, trust me when I'm saying that fixing bugs will become easier once the engine overhaul is complete: DCS 2.0.0 seems to have many more changes as well and not just improved graphics engine. There are huge amounts of functionality in a simulation engine as complex as DCS and considering how long it has been used and how much functionality has been added since beginning I would be surprised if the amount of bugs wasn't reduced by that overhaul alone. In the meantime it may seem long wait and disheartening to see bugs accumulate, but instead of "putting out fires" constantly it's sometimes worth it to just use new method when possible instead of constantly repairing old one.
  5. Thanks a whole lot for all contributors in making these! I finally decided to give it a try and what a difference.. :shocking: The "strecthed" look of textures is gone and visual estimatation of altitude is much improved. Now low-level flying is actually possible without crashing instantly, there is so much more visual "depth" on the ground. Also my loading times seem to be hugely improved since repacking those zips with reduced level of compression in them. It might be worth to implement in DCS installer to repackage all textures after installing DCS..? Or leave them completely uncompressed if the engine supports it? (That is, if there is enough space in the harddrive to leave them uncompressed..) Anyway, thanks a bunch, eager to see how it will look like in EDGE..
  6. Given what we know so far it could be P-39L or P-40L but most likely P-38.. Now, what did I win? :P
  7. I was wondering why nobody mentioned this earlier :) There are decent 720p and 1080p projectors for 500-800€ already and you really get huge screen which would cost obscene amounts of money to have in LCD or plasma display. Downsides to projectors are changing lightbulb at around 1000 hours of use and you do need enough room to have both the projection area and projector far enough to work properly. I have been looking at these lately, a few friends who are die-hard movie fans have these and have made interested in them as well. Practical reasons have held me back so far..
  8. Parking brake is on?
  9. Great work! Thanks for this
  10. Well, there's this subforum with separate threads for each official update: http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=105 I think this has been discussed before a couple of times already.. :music_whistling:
  11. Possibly one of the missing keybindings. There are a number of them still that are hopefully fixed in the next patch. It is a great module otherwise but still in beta..
  12. There is "thumb up" :)
  13. By default, LAlt+C can be used to switch between mouse look and mouse click mode if that was what you meant.. As mentioned already, some aircraft are not "full fidelity" and have only SSM (Standard System Modeling) level in cockpit. Full DCS titles have what is called ASM (Advanced System Modeling) and are fully clickable.
  14. Symptom of crash is often the same (access violation) but cause may vary. Usually (in case of DCS) happens when correct VC++ runtime is missing or wrong version, DirectX is not updated properly or drivers are not updated properly. Also check updates for Windows and so on.
  15. Do you have 64-bit Windows? Support for 32-bit Windows has been discontinued. Check in Control panel -> System, if it says "64-bit operating system" you should be fine.
  16. Uhm.. Usual pattern: Forum: "Would you like to see --" Me: Yes! Forum: "You didn't even let me finish" Me: I already told you! :P
  17. Wasn't it said they would release Mig on 1.2.x after all? So that would mean 2.0 and edge is some time after that?
  18. No mapping for "Band switch" (4 positions) in right-side console, or did not find the mapping for it?
  19. Also Rocket release switch (directly above this in cockpit) is missing mapping or I don't find it?
  20. What about: "Gun/Missile selector switch" or is it by some other name perhaps?
  21. I *may* be wrong here so correct me if I'm not :). According to Wikipedia human FOV (horizontal) in real world is nearly 180 degrees. (Vertical is around 135 degrees.) What is the FOV in your screenshots? To me it seems that the image from DCS is "compressed" to render wider area to narrower screen to fit what you would see actually there. This would mean that the angle in point C is actually different from point A (not a linear projection), right? So we need to change FOV in DCS to wider angle to fix length of P-51 in your example case, right? Edit: actually that would worsen it since more area would be "squashed" into narrow screen..
  22. You mean moving cockpit "camera" forward/backward? (Not zooming in that case, FOV should stay same)
  23. I'm not sure where you were aiming at but desktop resolution is not same thing as the resolution used within games or simulations since they are independently configured.. Edit: Steam hw-survey includes only Windows "desktop" screen resolution and most people (I think) run games in higher than that. Some (few people I've met) keep Windows desktop resolution lower to keep fonts readable in programs such as browser. My sample size is too small to determine anything from it actually.. Edit2: Some of those run games in second "screen" with video projector and only Windows desktop on "main" screen but that's not too common perhaps..
  24. Remember that flight sims are not web pages.. Same minimum level should not be expected for both. Also simulators have always been very resource hungry and pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved on any given hardware. Designing for minimum level does not advance simulations at same pace that hardware keeps improving. Also current plans are focused more on efficiency of rendering (plus more control in the application side) so even if hardware does not take leaps the next generation of 3D API are much more advanced in this regard (meaning DirectX 12 and OpenGL-NG are taking note of AMD Mantle). If it takes 4-5 years for new version of graphics engine emerge the minimum of rendering power also has time to increase by huge amounts. It makes more sense to design simulation for current high-level which is soon mid-level performance and poor performance by the time next engine iteration is complete..
