50 cal Ballistics/Aircraft Damage Model Questions/Concerns
Random replied to USARStarkey's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
I can confirm aerodynamic effects from damage. Few hits taken in the sabre led to it dropping the left wing during turns that wouldnt normally cause a problem Also it took out the hydraulic lines to the landing gear (flying controls were still powered, wheels wouldnt come down and gauge reading zero) -
50 cal Ballistics/Aircraft Damage Model Questions/Concerns

Nothing wrong with .50 power vs players. All the issues I hear about relate to the AI taking damage (or not). If it IS hitpoint based it all makes sense. Especially how half a second bang on convergence will flame AI! Whereas player controlled often ends up with systems damaged to the point the plane becomes ineffective just from peppering. -
Id rather see it flying than not... By non original engines you mean packard not RR right? Not like someone shoved a pair of oversized vw beetle engines!

Well next payday should coincide roughly with arrival of my rift. But annoying all the same.

Does this imply we have a convert? :D A mate of mine uses a warthog, i'll pount him at this thread next time hes online.

Hope ATI cards work! Otherwise its upgrade time :(
-
1: yes 2: purpose is its fun! Not everyone flys modern jets on all servers because they arent available in all servers. Also up to date? All aircraft in DCS currently are at least a couple of decades old ;)

Had a few friendly fire incidents due to only one skin. But hey its a beta amd it WILL get a template and more skins

Have you tried just tapping the nosewheel steer instead of holding it? I'll set up a crosswind on a nap and see how i get on using that method with 10-15m/s

[REPORTED] Fw 190 Cockpit Bar! (answer Post #173)
Random replied to Krupi's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
Said as much to the VEAO guys when I met them at duxford. Thing is no matter what people will complain about SOMETHING. I'd love to see refraction though. On all modules thst could be effected! -
Will give it another try !
-
Just tapping nosewheel steer with full opposite rudder should work. It does for me in mild crosswinds! 10m/s is pretty high really Over 35kph!

Thanks! Flags make more sense now! I'll just go without the retreat for now and pretend the arty is crewed with fearless russian super-soldiers....

Been looking into making some missions and I'm a bit daunted by the level of depth you can get into. Is there a PDF manual anywhere? I haven't seen one in the MissionEditor folder within DCS world. I'm not trying to make the worlds most complex mission but as a total noob I'm struggling with even the basics. Placing units and waypoints is easy. I think I understand the trigger basics. But have ZERO clue about "flags" and scripting so anywhere with a morons guide to these would be good. I've seen one post on flags, but I don't even understand their use let alone the intricacies in the thread I was looking at. Currently I'm building a basic MP coop mission. One task will be to attack an artillery battery moving into position to fire on the player airbase. What I want to do is have the artillery retreat to a waypoint when it takes 75% losses. I can find trigger conditions for the losses part but can't find an action that will switch to the final retreat waypoint.

Same problem here. Auto release worked once. Manual a few more times but cage uncage seems to be bugged

How using the "Red warning light on the gunsight"...
Random replied to Skulleader's topic in DCS: F-86F Sabre
TAB is the key above capslock on the left on a UK/USA keyboard :) Used for "alt tabbing" to get back to desktop from the game without closing it among other things It isnt the correct binding though! need to bind a key to electrically cage sight yourself. Although im not sure it's working correctly at the moment as in my air to ground thread -
More findings.... Although the sight doesn't cage as expected. In manual mode the pipper dissapears as expected and bombs hit the predicted point. Now to figure out rockets and auto bomb release!
-
Have read the quickstart manual sections related to rockets and bombs but some of the behaviour of the sight is confusing me In rocket or bomb mode my electrical caging button appears to do nothing. Pipper still moves left and right as you maneuver the aircraft. In guns mode the electrical caging works as expected. Manual says to hold electrical cage, dive and line up on target release cage and the pipper will "float" to predict impact point. This simply isn't happening at acceptable altitudes. The bomb mode WILL eventualy predict impact point but only very low and right at the release point for the bombs. So what am I doing wrong? or is it a bug?

jb1974: any updates? Meteor is on my list of dream Aircraft for DCS :)

Sabre is so good I overheated my FFB stick motors yesturday! 1st time its ever happened and it happened 3 times in about 5 hours of flying. Great job Belsimtek, never thought I'd enjoy a jet this much!
-
roughly 3/4 of the mig15's I hit with a missile carry on with ZERO damage. pretty sure its a bug! Guns work pretty much as expected though, a good burst into the top of the fuselage where the engine sits and its flaming torch time.
-
Don't quote me... But I believe its deliberate as some aircraft with powered flying controls didn't increase control loading with speed
-
System specs? Don't forget you are having to produce an image for each eye in 3d, doubling the load! 30fps in 3d is pretty impressive, at least to me as i'm an ATI user and can see fps in the high teens with the mi8 and no 3d! Also avoid using fraps, right ctrl pause will bring up the framerate in DCS without relying on external software that eats performance

1st day for me too!

I like the mission. Personally my favourite on DoW was the one where you chose the mission through the radio menu but the current one is still fun. I tend to take bombs and go bridge busting (easy to spot, and some flak around them to kill and boost the team score further) but am always ready to jettison them to defend myself. Although the lack of map icons makes it much easier to be sneaky!
