  1. Got some VR performance back after the last 2 updates knocked it back some. Still not quite where it was in March.
  2. Tried resetting my nvidia control panel to default today and set all dcs specific settings to default. Results were even smoother and sharper.
  3. My experience with openxr vs steamvr with a G2 after a week of fiddling: With no MR and same resolution settings, openxr seems smoother and textures are crisper. I wonder if steamvr is running multiple up sample downsample routines perhaps one too many and with each resampling textures get botched...I just don't know enough about the render pipeline for vr....does anyone? With MR and similar resolution Steamvr does a smoother clearer picture with less MR artifacts. Interestingly, you can actually see nvcp texture filertering settings make performance and quality differences when using openxr with no MR. I never tried that with steamvr since it was just not smooth enough. For now, I feel the improvement in smoothness and clarity in openxr with no mr or fsr beats better smoothness but poorer clarity in steamvr with mr and fsr.
  4. Or if you prefer use the new openxr replacement for steamvr for the G2. I get much smoother texture calls (less stuttering) and much clearer vr views using openxr vs steamvr + amd fsr. FSR is available in openxr toolkit but seems to degrade textures and alias things too much.
  5. For all the DCS World artists, programmers and admins, thank you for your most recent amazing work on the AH-64 Apache. Even in its early beta release state, it far surpasses my expectations and my DCS fun factor has been maxed back to A-10 Warthog levels not seen since Flaming Cliffs days! Bravo Zulu! Combined with the general bug squashing, polishing of the F-16 and F-18, DCS has never flown better. Keep up the outstanding work ED!
  6. C47 decals for unit number are only displayed in one eye.
  7. Can anyone explain why this works so well for my G2/Nvidia 3090/AMD 5950 based system? I get much better clarity, less anti-aliasing, less stutter. Obviously, it has to do with some pocket of processing power that DCS does not otherwise use...what ever...it works!
  8. ****update**** Download and install the modified openvr_api.dll that supports AMD FSR...really nice performance increase for VR. There is a thread on Redit. Hopefully, nvidia DLSS and DLAA are not far behind. https://github.com/fholger/openvr_fsr
  9. Was out of town for the weekend...looks like a vive console beta update came through. First look impression, motion smoothing seemed better. Also, audio seemed different like the comms voices seemed slightly lower in pitch...weird...going to fly more tonight and see what else changed. Nope no changes...
  10. HP Reverb G2, it takes a little to get the settings right, but if you like to tinker, it's the best bang for the buck at this point.
  11. My two cents after one night of installation and use of the HTC Vive Pro 2: Unboxing: packaging all slightly fancier than the G2 but not on par with the original Rift or Rift S. Installation: relatively painless, goto website download setup .exe, updates and pairing the index controllers all went smoothly. No issues with WMR settings from my G2 interfering. No issues with my x570 board recognizing the headset--a major advantage over the G2. Setup: Pairings with index controllers and light boxes went well but it sure feels like an over complex backward step to return to outside-in tracking (I'm seated for DCS). Volume and muting on ear is very nice. Headset: horrible fit and heavy compared to the G2, major issues with light leakage and eye alignment until making overly tight. The sweet spot is very difficult to fit each time you don the headset, but it does have fancy IPD adjustment knob. Also, depending on where you have the light boxes for tracking, each time you block the ir emitters on the headset you lose tracking and your screen shuts off making eye alignment overly difficult. Sound: on ear speakers are comfortable and can be pulled away from ear if desired, sound quality is noticeably better than both the original rift and G2 and way better than the rift s built-in. Lenses and Screen: much more saturated and vibrant than the G2 at my systems default "extreme" 90Hz setting, similar to the Rift S. As advertised, the Vive Pro 2 has a noticeably better field of view than G2 and rift and rift S, but has considerably poorer clarity than the G2 but slightly better than the Rift S. I would describe it as naturally softer panel compared to the G2. Individual pixels seem to bleed into each other. Perhaps the overall brightness needs to be turned down a bit but likely it's just a different pixel geometry. Performance: as noted above in many comments, HTC's motion smoothing is terrible compared to SteamVR or Oculus. With 2.7 DCS code and current hardware, I prefer motion smoothing in VR to the micro stutters although the Vive Pro 2 is much better than the G2 without motion smoothing enabled. Hopefully, HTC will rectify this deal breaking oversight or ED will make a big improvement in VR performance. Conclusion: specifically for DCS, if you have a G2 already, keep it. If you don't have a G2, buy it instead of the Vive Pro 2...at least until HTC sorts the motion smoothing.
  12. Just as a reminder. You need to reapply the changes after a driver update.
  13. rift, rift + and g2 for sale lol...
  14. Yes, true...like another $400 but we're DCS simmers...lol $$$$$$$
  15. I think so...at $799 compared to the G2's $599 it's not twice as expensive and what's a few more bucks to get another 600x300pixels and 30deg of fov and +30hz and better sound/comfort/tracking...we are flight simmers right?
  16. Pre-ordered...going to be a lot of G2's available in a couple weeks.
  17. Vive Pro 2 just previewed...on sale in 3 weeks. Pre orders start today. 5k resolution at 120hz and 120deg fov. Hmmm? G2 for sale...lol
  18. Enabled I have finally coerced my G2 into working smoothly between a combination of witch hexes, sacrifices, straight up cpu beatings. But thanks for this one.
  19. Just imagine it that you are at an arcade shooting gallery...just keep shooting the parts that you can see!
  20. With new win10 install fully up to date and nvidia drivers up to date...no crashes. Latest beta installed...now getting 2nd mission crash.
  21. Is SSAO working in VR?
  22. Fantastic step forward ED...keep up the good work! Overall impression is that lots of little fixes are making a big improvement. Things just run smoother and with less jitters or judders during flight and also in general during loading of missions. With settings jacked all the way up, she sure looks sweat! However, I am seeing a crash/freeze about every two to three missions especially when switching between maps/missions or changing settings and running a mission again. Hope you can nail that one down...sorry not able to reproduce reliably.
  23. Really ED? So disappointing that such an easy and important change has never been done. WTF??? I'd guess most buyers like me of this module gave up flying it so long ago that they've all forgotten why they stopped flying the module.
