  1. Thanks for the hammered info! 1.5 it is. We'll buzz the strip tomorrow ;)
  2. Glad you fixed your stubborn issue! That's a weird behavior though. From what I know, not handling multiple periods in filenames properly is a bug. I'll try to rename the file and switch between my profiles. I'll report back if it fixes my nasty BSOD.
  3. Hey Devrim Thanks for bringing the beast out of the hangar! I really hope you didn't forget the cockpit-freshner or that gift will have little value ;) Good luck and merry xmas everyone! (I already own one those superb Fishbeds, so don't bother adding me to the list)
  4. I'm eagerly waiting for that too. I'm tired of that unreliable throttle. But I doubt the jet throttle will happen soon… Of course, I hope I'm wrong. About the profiler: did you try to remove your custom profiles before restarting the software? If not: back up your profile(s) and remove them from the profiles folder, then start the software with the default profile alone. If it works, at least, you know the profiler don't like what you've done ;)
  5. Great! I hope you'll let us know how you feel about the Warthog grip and Black Mamba MkIII gimbal combination.
  6. I agree with your observation. Most of the cockpits, and despite their great level of detail, lack the rendering finesse that could improve the overall realism. Part of the cockpits do not extensively use the specular and normal maps and there are very few in-cockpit dynamic lights. One example is the Su-27 cockpit: only a few textures also use the specular and normal maps. Most of the consoles only use diffuse (matte) textures. There's no local cube-mapping (fake environmental reflection) or dynamic lights for the warning lights HDD and other light emitting devices. Another example is the fake reflection used on the dials in some cockpits: they're just static textures and only rough smoke and mirrors, as the reflection can't move while your head is moving in the cockpit. It may be a technical/performance limitation of the current rendering method for the cockpits and I agree it would greatly benefit from some visual improvements. I'm not using DCSW as a screenshot machine even if I enjoy the external views a lot, but my primary interaction is with the cockpit view and environment. Some cockpits also look more realistic due to the amount of photographic source material. In my opinion, the MiG-21bis and the good old Su-25 are some of the best looking cockpits. At least, now that we can have different cockpits available from the options menu, some of them are probably going to benefit from some visual improvements. But that does not change the current rendering limitations.
  7. Hi and welcome to DCS World Karamich ;) Yes, the 2.0 open alpha is primarily used with the Nevada terrain. The Caucasus region is available for the stable 1.2 and the 1.5 open beta (new engine). Imho, if you can afford it, the Nevada terrain is totally worth it. Compared to the Caucasus terrain the level of details has been greatly increased. It's still an alpha version and there will be more content and improvements (clouds/weather, ATC, …). The Caucasus terrain will be available for DCSW 2 at a later date. >>> more details about the different versions <<<
  8. You should also set the Threshold value (slider) in the camera tab to filter your IR LEDs signal.
  9. "Всё прогрессивное человечество ждёт новую мамбу!" :megalol: Very accurate statement. Hopefully, we should have some pictures of the final products this week.
  10. I didn't know about that area but I got curious and I quickly checked GE before posting. I didn't find any elevation. The two "basins" at the top look similar to those things (Google Earth): Unless it's some kind of experimental installation. A gigantic kind ;)
  11. Unless someone paid for the view, there may be some serious graboids problem here: Abnormal terrain "bump" south of Yucca dry lake. No projected shadow. Latest Open Alpha (v2.0.0.48525). Spotted while flying the "Take off" Instant Action mission (Su-27). Every settings on high (+ flat shadows ON). coordinates: 36°53'39"N 116°02'28"W
  12. No limitations as limitation! Your Warthog kung fu will only improve ;) [source]
  13. ED probably already know this, but just in case: the rotor wash effect is not visible on the Lake Mead. It's displayed correctly above the ground. Also: can't blend the bird with the rotor. Hem. For science. And not a bug.
  14. There's a small wiki with few info. It might be useful too. Calibration and the Accela filter are quickly explained. Also, you should have three green crosses and one red cross. The green crosses are the tracked points (IR LEDs). The red cross is the reference rotation point and it should roughly be centered behind your eyes. Another important thing is to set the points extraction min/max size to avoid loosing your green dots (PointTracker Settings -> Camera tab -> Point extraction). And don't forget to carefully configure your response curves ;)
  15. I'm not sure a sneak peek would be a great idea. We'll have to drool for ages before it becomes available ^^
  16. Alternatively, the EU website seem to have the Fat King Cobra MkIV available. Basically it's an improved Cobra base (metal gimbal, additional controls, NJoy32 controller) with no twist rudder.
  17. Afaik there's no plan for a new production batch. The new Gladiator and Gunfighter series are the successors. I know some owners use the Mamba base with the Warthog grip and perhaps some of them would be willing to sell their spare Cobra grip but that's a long stretch. And you'll have to buy a Vintage Edition. I'm sorry you missed the last units sale. Perhaps you could ask VKB if they have a used/demonstration Cobra grip for sale?
  18. Unfortunately, the Fat Black Mamba Mk III with the Cobra grip is sold out everywhere (even on the russian market). The only one you could pre-order is the Vintage Fat Black Mamba Limited Edition (ouch that's a long name ;) ), with the KG-12 style grip from the Gladiator series. If you're a US citizen you should pre-order from Stratojet. Where did you see there are no taxes? From the EU website:
  19. That's not a gif, that's a documentary! ^^
  20. I tried with Flat Shadows ON and OFF and the shadows projection is faulty with both settings.
  21. Already reported >>> here <<<. Don't forget to use the search tool first ;) Also (sticky): >>> How to report a bug <<<
  22. It's on the left when the message is heard. But it may be an oversight.
  23. Imho, the timing of the message is a bit uncomfortable but the solar plant is there: I was rather focusing on my turn and trajectory. :smilewink: The main view and detail are from one second after the audio message. The closer view has been captured a few seconds later. My visibility range is set to "high". Another view:
  24. Hello Could you be more specific about the issues? I'm also using OT and a 3 point emitter with DCSW 2.0 and I'm happy with the result. Did you tweak the Accela filter settings? (it can improve your experience) The settings really depend on the user installation but here's what I have : Smoothing: 5ms Rotation sensitivity: 1.24° Rotation deadzone: 0.5° Translation sensitivity: 1mm Translation deadzone: 0.2mm The tiny deadzones combined with the sensitivity improves the view steadiness in my case. The smoothness is kept low to avoid a laggy response. I use this settings for the fighters (dynamic, but smooth and stable to take a peek at the instruments or static targets).
  25. VKB is still selling that joystick but they're apparently out of stock. They designed it a while ago. The current version is not as good as the first version (designed by VKB). Defender changed the controller and the magnetic sensors (M-force™ vs DMaRS) to reduce the production cost. Based on the comments and the success on the russian and asian market, it's still a very good joystick for the money. The grip is inspired from the Su-34 and it has two triggers. The same design equips the Fat Black Mambas and Black Mambas from VKB. Price: about $50
