With the flat terrain shadows OFF any building, structure (bridge and such), aircraft, cast a shadow on the other objects (including the terrain). The terrain projected shadows are pre-rendered and not real-time. There are a few versions switching at specific hours of the day (unlike the sun position). You can accelerate the time during a mission to see how it changes. No idea if there will be more different shadow maps in the future. I agree the current general dynamic shadow rendering does not look that pretty. The shadows resolution depends on the distance form the camera but the transition between the different resolution levels is brutal and very noticeable. It may be because it's still alpha. On the other hand, I assume smooth shadows would be way more taxing on the performance. The flat shadows rendering looks more homogeneous.

VKB T-Rudder Pedals - Review
Bourrinopathe replied to rrohde's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I wouldn't want to be held responsible for encouraging that GAS ;) I don't have any detailed information about the T-Rudder MkIV. -
Joystick "Black Mamba" from VKB FSC Europe
Bourrinopathe replied to Flagrum's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Just an update to keep the info visible in the thread: VKB told me it's not possible to add any axis to the grip with the 5 pins connector. -
About the buildings self shading/projected shadows: it's definitely still there (mission replay): Shadows=High, Flat Shadows=OFF Maybe something has been changed in your settings, rrohde? [EDIT: and from what I tested, the aircraft lighting and the cockpit lighting are not affected by the buildings and terrain projected shadows]

VKB T-Rudder Pedals - Review
Bourrinopathe replied to rrohde's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'd like to create 3D-printed front and rear covers for the pedals (MkII)… (prevent dust + look better) In the meantime: -
VKB T-Rudder Pedals - Review
Bourrinopathe replied to rrohde's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks for sharing. It looks overly complicated though. Some decent grease on the contact points will get rid of the "kiii kiii" sound too  (at least nine months since I applied some Teflon grease and it's still silky smooth and beautifully silent) -
Great! Thanks for the confirmation!

Lucky you! I didn't find the time to test the update myself. So the terrain projected shadows are now implemented?
-
It's for the static model only. One rotor blade was missing.
-
Double-nice! That, and the fixed Ka-50 model. And the campaign. And the new fx? And… Well, thanks a lot! There are many things to test that week-end!

Fat Mamba MkIII is back!!!!
Bourrinopathe replied to RFC Rudel's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Isn't it? And I don't know why they didn't add that feature in the description… It's impossible with the current MkII design because of a pin locking the grip aligned to the front. MkIII > MkII - no doubt. -

Fat Mamba MkIII is back!!!!
Bourrinopathe replied to RFC Rudel's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
One more thing I just learnt about the BM MkIII is that you can rotate (and lock) the grip to the left. Yes, just like the one in our beloved Su-27! (and many other russian aircraft) (old picture, but the angle is clearly visible) If anyone has a link to an anatomical study or something about the center stick ergonomics, please do share! (I know there are some interesting texts about the side-stick / center stick comparisons, but that's another subject) -

Great! I'd also like to know how that gimbal feels? What about the default cams (soft/hard center)? Progressive resistance with the stick movement? (also, as there's no installation guide yet, I've provided some very basic instructions w/ pictures >>> HERE <<<) Have fun with your new surgical tools! -
Add a few airports to the NTTR map

I don't think so, but afaik ED only shares the required tools with serious third parties partners showing solid background and experience. -
DCS 2.0 Nevada - PAPI Lights 24/7
Bourrinopathe replied to JUICE-AWG's topic in DCS: Nevada Test and Training Range
Hi, The PAPI lights are most probably part of the improved ATC ongoing development. I first noticed the issue at Creech and Groom Lake. I also hope they will benefit from a decent visual improvement in the Caucasus terrain (there's a mod somewhere to reduce the flares textures mess). I doubt it's worth a bug report as it's still WIP. Have fun practicing precision landings  -

Eheh ;) I'm pretty sure a bunch of us are also eagerly waiting for an almost-but-not-so-much-«déjà vu» Su-something throttle… KG-12 + WWII throttle sounds really good for the WWII enthusiasts  And it's not like there's any similar devices around. -

Flight control stand advises

axe + dead tree + in-a-hurry + badass snake = Well ok, a few more tools were used but it was done in less than 30 mins ;) Also: super cheap and stable enough (rubber pads at the bottom for the hi-tech touch). -
UTC Mk II - professional wireless TrackClip Pro alternative
Bourrinopathe replied to HAV's topic in For Sale
It looks great and sturdy enough. Good job! My own DIY emitter and the floor are old buddies and it's 6 years old now. But I want to get rid of that cable. Bad. ^^ It's a very good thing you have several weight/battery life options. I also like the fact you didn't put any bulky "universal" fixation system. There are so many different headsets around I'd prefer modifying your emitter to my liking. I'd be interested in the lighter version (650 mAh/25 g). "You've got a mail" -
Can you see the "VKB Tiny BOX" column in the Controls tab?
