  1. I had two 'bolters' with my first attempts but did it with the third! I was so happy not to crash with my first trys but managed to go around. I hit the first cable with the third touchdown and made an acceptable landing. Just Felt like a boss! But guys I was sweating... Still I can't imagine to get this done at night and in heavy weather too though!! Sorry I don't have this on tape but I just wanted to tell this someone because it felt so cool - and my girl is not too deeply impressed :-) Cheers

    Switching Maps

When you open the mission editor you have to set up a 'new mission', then the coalitions page opens up and the in the upper left corner you'll find the region selection. Caucasus, Nevada, Persian Gulf...
  3. For me SSAA at 1.5 or first stage gave me 10 - 15 fps more compared to MSAA set to 4x. For my aged R9 280X this is a plus about 50%. And it does look way better than MSAA. The MFDs are much better to read an text is crisp sharp. Quite weird the performance of SSAA is so different...
  4. Changing my settings from MSAA x4 to OFF and SSAA to 1.5 gave me a performance boost at about 10 - 15 fps. Non-VR of course.
  5. I'd highly recommend to turn off the Comm Assist and the Easy Comm options. Last time when I used the assists they were buggy. Don't know for now but it's quite a while. With the assists turned off it works fine for me. Oh, I think at the NTTR comms are still bit bugged even without assist. When you ask for take-off clearance ATC won't reply until you're on the runway spooling your engines up. Rest is good. Just learn to master the Comm Systems as like the rest of the systems. I swear you'll love it then. Comms are one of the easier topics. Just bind your keys right. I know there's so much to cover in the beginning but it's just a recommendation - learn to do and to handle things right from the scratch. If you start flying online with no radio assists you'll regret not to know your radios and continously call the JTAC for take-off clearance i.e. ...just an expierence :music_whistling:
  6. Reminds me on this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cavalese_cable_car_disaster_%281998%29 The Prowler had no serious damage.
  7. Sorry for being off topic here but couldn't help... Watch the video at about 3:01 - when he goes brrrrrrrrrrt and the compass turns into a bubblebath... looks soo funny :music_whistling:
  8. I don't think there's a way to change this except changing his loadout in the mission planer / editor. I usually don't give them CBUs anyways as the AI's effectivness with CBUs is rather poor. They always set the HOF to it's maximum and so miss their targets far off. If large patterns or colums of vehicles are expected I do the rough work and then call in the wingman in to help me mop up. With precision ammunitions the AI is pretty effective. - If you can make him rolling in hot... AI / Wingmans really need some code polishing!
  9. In 2.5 the laser beam is not visible with NVG turned on anymore. Maybe connected with the whole buggy lighting system (floodlight etc)?
  10. Just in case you're using the radio assist, if so the MIG-21 freqs are shown in the radio menu.
  11. Thanks guys, enlightend me quite a bit. I'll continue to type in the wind data into CDU though... still love to fiddle around with all those buttons and switches in my hog. :joystick:
  12. I'm wondering quite a while whats the real life procedures for the LASTE. In short, when are the wind data are punched in the CDU and from who the data comes from? What I do mostly on my sorties is to enter the data on my way to the theatre or sometimes on the ramp during preflight procedures. But that brings the big how and why! The wind given by the metreological guys is a picture how it is right now and what they expect it to be by the time flying over target area. It's not what it is when I drop my ordnance. Expecting it to be as much as precise as it gets knowing the wind right on top of the target from i.e. 30.000 ft to ground. So all this would only be a guess and makes a weapon release as precise as it would be without any wind information at all!? BTW, I always use the LASTE with the wind information from the briefing and it works quite well for me. You guys get my thought?
  13. Fred00 is right, I don't know exactly when it starded but since my last sorties I noticed that too. I mostly have the same loadout with me so I got a good feeling for the trimming work with it. I do have much more trimming work to do to stop the Hog banking now. It's not bothering me and brings it even more to real life though there is a difference to how it was before.
  14. The reason why I was asking this was in regard to the 'Wind Correction' tool. I downloaded it from the DCS 'user files section'. I use the tool for almost every sortie for the Caucasus Map. It refers magnetic north to 353° as a standard value. Works perfectly to me. So for me the question came up if I can use it as it is for the Nevada Map - which shows to work also. But for sure the magnetic north value is not the same though it won't really do a big difference for odnance delivery when being off some degrees but just to do it the right way I was wondering whats the correct numbers here. I do know the real world geographical differences between true, magnetic and geographical north but in DCS is - as close as it is - is a different story, right?
  15. Can anyone tell me the magnetic north for the nevada map? Have used the forum search with no luck.
  16. 2x AIM9 1x 151 HE 4x MAV 2X GBU-12 1x CBU97 1x CBU87 Sometimes 82-AIRs TGP + ALQ131 And Brrrrrrrt for sure
  17. I think it doesn't really responds to any impulse, it just has a certain interval showing or saying 'IFF'. I had it turned on quite sometimes but not recently so maybe something changed here. Will test soon :pilotfly:
  18. As far as I know ED intended to have a working IFF for the Warthog but it never got finished. So you can turn on and set up the system but it effects - nothing. Just a small touch of feeling more realistic...an more buttons to fiddle with Correct me if i'm mistaken here :smartass:
  19. Since last update it seems to me as well that the efficiency of the 105 and 97 dropped drasticly. I also do have some explosions around the targets but most of them far off. 6 to 8 or even more vehicles destroyed e.g. on a convoy was quite common dropping the 105 or 97 right on top of it. Now im happy getting 2 or 3, 4 in best case.
  20. Hm after testing today a second restart did the trick, she's back on board now. Weird, but she's bitching again as supposed.
  21. Guys, since last update (1.5.7.8899.335) Betty is not bitchin or even talking to me anymore. Can anyone confirm?
  22. You're right BuzzU, most of these shots are done with a GoPro. Action cams does have a very short focal lenght so things appear smaller as the angle of view is very wide. -sorry for giving the smartass :music_whistling:
  23. It's a bug and has already been reported - as far as I know. :music_whistling:
