  1. 1. Whats the difference in turning performance between manipulating the maneuvering flaps manually and letting the CADC do the work for you? 2. What are the speeds I should be at when I'm manually using the maneuver flaps? So far I seem to have locked up my slats after turning at higher speeds within the F-14's optimum envelope. I've always flown the F-14 and let the CADC doing its thing without me having to touch the DLC.
  2. Speaking of realistic renditions, when will you guys implement over heat and fried electronics when the ECS isn't on in the Tomcat? I know the JF-17's electronics get fried when the ECS isn't on in DCS.
  3. Firing in Pulse STT is also really fun, especially when theres an enemy player above you, they'll try and notch to no avail, its a pretty funny sight to see, and they pay the ultimate price, I did it yesterday, and I was laughing maniacally as I got those kills.
  4. Because its challenging to fly, it doesn't have fancy gadgets like JHMCS, it doesn't have Fly-By-Wire to keep you from killing yourself with the wrong stick input you need to fly good ol stick and rudder. The Tomcat has alot of character, history, and its own culture. One of the biggest reasons I stopped flying the Hornet, and chose the F-14 over the F-18, is because the F-14 gives me raw feedback into how well, or how poorly I'm flying via the airframe buffet (shaking and rattling), that alone made all the other jets sterile to fly, this plane taught me how to actually fly and made me drop alot of the bad flying habits I had developed from when I flew the Eagle, Flanker, Mirage, and Hornet.
  5. I love it, because I wanted to prove to people on PvP, that the F-14 wasn't a "sluggish fighter that can't hold its own", like so many have been lead to believe. So when the F-14 was available for pre-order it was an instant buy. After that I searched up on everything I could on how the F-14 handles, its quirks and features, and how I could potentially get the most use out of it, by doing so I fell in love with the F-14 indefinitely.
  6. Interesting, I've been able to pick up radar contacts that were pretty much in the weeds flying very close to the ground in the northern mountainous terrain on the Caucasus map, so long as I fly up high enough to where hiding in the terrain becomes less effective for them, and I point my radar downwards. By doing this I've picked up aircraft that I usually wouldn't even know were there in the first place, aircraft such as A-10's, and Harrier's, on the rare occasion I've found Huey's.
  7. A 2004 F-15C from Langely had Link-16, JHMCS, AIM-9X and the AN/APG-63 (V)1 which isn't AESA. Its the perfect F-15 replacement in DCS
  8. AIM-7's have been good to me, the only reason they've been missing has been because of the server I'm in are lagging, making my AIM-7's miss.
  9. How about a 2004 F-15C from Langley?
  10. Will using TWS Auto also adjust radar elevation as well? Or do we have to tell Jester adjust elevation in TWS Auto to get him to adjust elevation?
  11. +1 On the F-14D. Like BJM said, it would be a disservice not to do an F-14D.
  12. 1. The F-14 taught me how to fly stick and rudder, and has made flying planes like the F-15 and F-18 super, super easy. I wasn't afraid of flying analog planes I wanted the challenge even before I clicked the Pre-Purchase button ;). 2. The Feedback that the F-14 gives the pilot, something that Heatblur really nailed, honestly, the flying by the seat of your pants feeling you get in the F-14, is addicting, it makes the other modules feel very sterile and to me, undesirable to fly. 3. The HUD is something that I came to accept and felt right at home with pretty quickly plus all the essential instrument gauges are right under the HUD so it wasn't hard to transition into. Funny thing is that even though I flew the Hornet before the Tomcat, I find the Hornet's HUD to be a sensory overload especially when you display the RWR on the HUD. On a side note, I don't understand how some players have flat out shelved the Tomcat just because it doesn't have a modern HUD.
  13. For some reason, if I decide not to drop my external tanks, and come in to land, when I request a rearm and refuel, the quantity of fuel doesnt go back up to 20,100lbs instead, it stays at 16,100 as if I didn't have external tanks on.
  14. with the current implementation of the Phoenix, support the missile for a few seconds before turning cold, I'd recommend shooting closer to 25-30 miles instead if you're at medium to lower altitudes, I fire from 35 miles tops at very, very high altitudes. If the target is below you, push the nose down before you fire off your missile, that way it doesn't lose alot of energy verses just flying level and making the missile turn downwards, losing the energy required to hit the bandits.
  15. What are the parameters you're shooting at?
  16. I dont think its a bug, but by default Jester's radar mode is set to auto just like how his elevation setting is by default, set to auto, so you have to tell him to change it to RWS or TWS yourself, because I've never had this issue.
  17. Same here, I've tried to jump back into the other modules that I own, and I can't come to terms with them, so I always end up jumping back into the F-14, no matter how much I force myself to fly the other modules.
  18. Okay, phew. I thought I was the only one suffering from this problem.
