  1. Thanks for the suggestion. I will edit the Mission this week and see if I can get it to work. It’s a long flight in from the carrier group and the Helos need a radio beacon to follow in the low visibility.
  2. Hi BIGNEWEY, Is this fixed yet? I did a mission last week and the radio beacons worked in the mission editor. Once running in MP in our Squadron Only one Huey could hear the beacon and get steering cues? Cheers Boomer
  3. No news that I’ve seen. I am sure it will be welcome. The hornet has such short legs I would rather have one less slammer and have a centreline tank. I have tried asymmetric load outs with one fuel tank on a wing station when flying in bomb truck mode :-)
  4. Thanks for the reply, I’m sure the select pylons will get the job done. I was more wondering why you can say “Select MK-82” or ‘Select Rockeyes” or “Select Zunis” etc but can’t say “Select TALDs”. Every other legit AG ordinance for the Tomcat is available by specific voice command, but not the TALD? I’m not exactly complaining more just curious about why that is the case. It just seems like an unexplained omission? Cheers
  5. Ok thanks good to know. There are specific select AIRIO commands for all the other AG ordinance, I would like the TALD’s to be included if possible. Cheers
  6. Selecting ADM-141 TALD’S in AIRIO Hi I was flying the F-14 in a sandbox mission with an F18 player last night. We wanted to see if we could decoy a ships air defence missiles with the ADM141, so that he could hit it with multiple HARMS and possibly destroy the ships radar. I loaded up with ADM-141 TALD’S and flew out towards the ship. I called up my AIRIO KneeBoard and looked for the select TALD phrase. .... There was no entry? Is there a command in AIRIO for selecting TALD’s? Any ideas appreciated. Cheers Boomer
  7. Well it seems this bug is back again with a vengence. Last night flying (Latest Open Beta) as a group in the excellent DCS Mission: Band of Buds https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3305871 We took off from the carrier, but after dropping our ordinance, we were low on fuel and landed at Bandar Abbas. All aircraft immediately were bouncing 200 feet in the air and similar distance underground. Not a good look. This bug is worse now as before you could ‘try’ to ignore it and launch back into the mission. Now I’m finding that taxiing can lead to the bouncing aircraft exploding on the taxiway. This is a frustrating showstopper bug that should not be happening after all this time.
  8. Yes we notice the Tomcat moves quite a bit on the carrier in MP, enough to make it dangerous to park up close to it. one of our missions even has a stationary carrier with 20 knots of wind down the center line. Even here the Tomcats move back and forward on the deck.
  9. Jester, Targets of opportunity and LANTIRN I’ll be thrilled if it works. I do wonder how you will be able to pass (Pilot)visual ground targets of opportunity to Jester to lock up with the LANTIRN, without going through some long list of AI generated possible targets or using some kind of Vulcan mind meld :-) I’m thinking of stuff like I see a missile launch site, or an artillery battery firing, or column of tanks on a road. I am looking at its ground location and I say what? Jester .....er could you read my mind and lock up the Shilka I’m looking at, it’s the third last vehicle in the column on the road to our east? I am amazed how good Jester is in Air To Air and I’m not being critical. I just can’t imagine how it will work in reality and will it be fast enough to set the correct target to make it useful.
  10. Cobra, I just have to say flying the Heatblur F-14 module is a viscerally exciting experience and puts a smile on my face every time I take the controls. Thank you for your teams hard work and incredible attention to detail. :-)
  11. I’ve been starting VA/Viacom in Admin mode since I bought it, it’s been working fine until this last update
  12. Hi I’m getting the same situation after latest Open beta update. Flying F-14 in multiplayer in the Persian Gulf. My request is recognised by Voice attack/Viacom (Including recognition beep), but DCS does nothing and Jester does not respond to the request. Also the AIRIO ‘Open Mic’ feature no longer works. Something in the latest OB has broken Viacom for me? I have disabled AIRIO and been using ‘Manual” Jester. This is not my preferred option
  13. Hi, I’m not sure this is a bug or just not done yet. After landing on the carrier in the F14, I taxi and park up. The ship is moving and rolling and I generally like to set the chocks to stop the aircraft moving back and forward while it refuels and rearms in close proximity to other parked aircraft in a multiplayer server. 1. If the engines are running as I’m re-fueling and re-arming the ground crew will not place the chocks. (Although they will for my squad buddies F18 parked next to me.) 2. With the engines turned off, the Chief acquiesces and says chocks are in place. The aircraft stops its deck shimmies and I go into external view and no chocks are visible. My multiplayer squad buddies chocks on the F18 are visible, but he cannot see mine either. It’s not a biggie, I’m just wondering if it’s not implemented yet or is an actual bug with the F14? Cheers Boomer
  14. Easy communications issue? Hi Hollywood, I just started using Viacom Pro after a brief 2 week break going back to doing it all myself. :-) I have just noticed that on the F14 Module Viacom is on Easy comm's. I have Easy Comm's turned off for all modules in DCS, but Viacom is seeming to default to Easy for the F14? With it stuck on easy when I use Jester wheel (Not AIRIO) to select the Stennis it switches to 127.5, then when I press TX2 and call "Inbound" the radio re-tunes to the nearest land base airfield and they reply? With AIRIO turned on it seems to work as I would want it. I still don't know why easy comm's is on though? Is there any way to force Viacom not to use easy comm's? (I do have it switched off for all modules in the DCS configuration.) Cheers Boomer
  15. Hi, I am part of a long running Virtual squadron in Australia we are not hard core and certainly know little of actual real world tactics, but we do try to take the sim seriously. My comments were aimed at wondering how you take on an integrated system that would comprise of long and short range systems and EW that are sharing target information and tactics. Currently taking on an SA-10 with Harms and using 4 of our squadron popping up and firing from different points on the compass means we have probably a low to medium chance of getting a hit, as the big SA10 missile is (in the Sim at least) incredibly good at shooting down HARMs that would have the radar cross section of a seagull. :-) (Yes I’m sure there are many anecdotes of how I’m doing it wrong and SA-10”s are so easy to kill, but in northern Iran when the terrain is flat it can be tricky) But, I now imagine this combined with a 100 -200 kilometre SA-5 umbrella protecting the SA-10 and sharing target information. And yes that seems scary and daunting, kind of like when we were attacking them SA-10 with the Harriers Sidearm because that was the only western anti-radiation missile. You felt like you brought a knife to a gunfight. :-) I’m happy to get some constructive ideas around this and hopefully we will get some longer range weapons and functional jamming platforms from ED to balance the fight a bit? I don’t have an answer which was why I asked the question.
  16. Scared yes :-) Also wondering about how you take on the proposed integrated air defence system when one of the components is a Mach 4 300 kilometre range missile. It seems a bit daunting with the range and hit probability of the current AGM-88?
  17. Hi, Did you try waiting a breath between the ‘Select’ command and the target word? From the manual: THE MICROPAUSE Note: This is important especially for beginning users: apart from speaking slowly and well- articulated to improve your recognition rates, carefully observe the following. When issuing your voice commands, leave small (0,5 sec) pauses between the recipient and the command phrase. This takes some getting used to but becomes second nature in no time. Especially in the beginning leave a short silence in between like for example in ‘Darkstar, ...Request Picture.” This will help the recognition engine to better catch on to what you’re saying. Once you get this rhythm it’s easy. Your recognition rates will increase rapidly. After a while (when the engine is better trained) you can speed this up a bit. Note: As a timing aid: if in Preferences you have enabled the option ‘use audio hints’, you will hear a short soft blip when the recipient was recognized after which you can continue with completing the voice command. This is how I got it to work. Also I just remembered there is a checkbox in the Viacom preferences you need to check “Select Tunes Radio” for the command to work. Hope this helps PS: I too have noticed some problems after last update. My problem was: when I said ‘Track single bogey ahead, the text reply was “unable radar is in locked mode” I disabled AIRIO via the Viacom preferences and restarted voice attack and DCS. The jester wheel was restored and I flew without AIRIO. I will re enable for next flight and see how it goes.
  18. I initially found this confusing as well. I found if you say “Select” first then wait for the recognition beep, then say “Stennis’ or “ Texaco” or “ Overlord” etc, Jester will tune the radio to the respective stations. I also think you can probably say the full sentence i.e. “Select Stennis”.
  19. Hi, I would say learn both, both are amazing modules. Both aircraft co-habit our lan groups missions and bring a wide variety of mission types into the mix. As for the F14 needing two players, I agree that if you can find someone who is good enough yet to know how to get the most out of the back seat when you are flying together it would be an amazing experience. I have been using the (paid $10) AIRIO plugin for Viacom Pro which gives you voice control of Jester and removes the need to navigate the menu system. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3330611&postcount=2 I have found this increases the speed of getting Jester to do stuff and keeps the immersive experience intact, by having a conversational interface to our trusty RIO :-)
  20. Hi we had this happen yesterday in a multiplayer LAN meetup (PG map). F18’s and F14’s took off from carriers. We landed at Bandar Abbas after the mission and the F18 exhibited the bouncing that we thought had been previously fixed.
  21. Same here. This has been happening for a while but we put it down to network glitches during online play in our group. Last weekend we had a multiplayer 6 person session, Persian Gulf mission on a LAN (physically in the same venue with gigabit switch). The SU-33 and F-18C flights took off from carriers and at the end of the mission landed at Qeshm Island. Once on the ground all the carrier based aircraft were bouncing hundreds of feet into the air and then going down below ground level. Land based Mirage, and A10 were fine. Other aircraft were even damaged by inadvertently taxiing through the area where the bouncing aircraft were happening. This needs to be acknowledged and fixed please.
  22. On the contrary I have found Viacom Pro to be extremely useful and easy to set up. You do need to install voice attack and spend the time to train the windows voice recognition to your voice to minimise accent and individual differences in hw you say words. In particular I find the radio calls to AWACS and Tankers really are useful and add immersion. If you are like me and frequently have to hook up to the basket a couple of times during refueling because you lost concentration :-) ....then just being able to push the correct radio button on the HOTAS and say “Ready pre-contact” without taking your eyes out of the sim to hunt for a menu is a real pleasure, And means you can stay close to the basket for the hookup. Simlilarly flying near an air base with frequency set on your radio and just saying “Inbound” and having the tower respond really adds to the immersion.
  23. Vietnam is certainly a map that would involve lots of carrier ops for that era’s jets. I would also like a Pacific WW2 map ...Midway or even better the Coral Sea. Lots of little islands, carrier ops and rough landing fields :-) https://www.sutori.com/item/battle-of-coral-sea-this-was-a-major-naval-battle-between-the-imperial-japanese
  24. Hi, thanks for your reply. No I don’t think this is the issue as the two button combo works seamlessly for the up down and right hat switch slew directions. It’s just the left hat direction that does not slew the F Maverick. The left button is recognised in the DCS controller settings just like all the other directions, it just does not do anything in the game for F maverick left slew
