I think the TDC depress is fine, once you get used to it it kind of makes sense. :-) The issue for myself and I think others is that something appears broken on the slew to the left using the Warthog Throttle sensor slew digital hat. (Front right hat) My throttle hat responds correctly to key presses in all directions in the DCS adjust controls settings throttle column in the F18 Sim controller settings. Back in the Hornet (for me) the F MAV will only respond to up, down, and right key presses. Left does nothing? This same Hat switch responds correctly to other operating modes like radar slew in the F18 and also works correctly in other aircraft modules. So I have to assume there is something in wrong in F MAV code somewhere?

+1 I had exactly the same behavior , the digital slewing throttle hat switch sensor slew will not move to the left. The analog axis “Nipple” works fine, but is too responsive for me even with large curvatures. The sensor left button press is properly recognized in the Adjust controls: Throttle menu, but not in the game. I hope they can sort this out! Cheers

Heatblur 1st:dev to introduce Jetwash in DCS?
Boomer_QLD replied to CoBlue's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I’m definitely not an expert, just curious. :-) The TF-30 engine was getting some bad press in 1984 regarding its propensity to stall. This could lead to asymmetric thrust and loss of the aircraft from unrecoverable spin ? I would normally hear of wake turbulence coming from large aircraft engines and wingtip vortices. This would cause loss of control in other aircraft following them at fairly large distances, ~up to several nautical miles separation during take off or landing. I wonder if the effect talked about here is slightly different and is more like one of the engines in the F14 ingesting disturbed air from close proximity to another jets engine exhaust? (Read dogfight) This is more of a question than an explanation but seems to ring “possible“ to me. Does anyone have more information?https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/politics/1984/07/19/terrible-f14-engine-criticized-by-lehman/1fdb76f2-fe8e-44f2-b0d0-61c250e91e64/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.859d24e9a972 -
I agree, add the airbase. I’d like to think most people can happily ignore it for historical contexts. I can’t ignore the value of creating future missions that are based on interesting hypothetical situations, that will increase the interest and replay ability of this map. I don’t really want to be limited to one era in any map theatre.

Warthog afterburner detent from Shapeways arrived
Boomer_QLD replied to sobe's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Hi, I bought mine from their online store. https://www.shapeways.com/product/3MJPNE2SV/warthog-throttle-part-afterburner-detent?optionId=63799442&li=related-items It was delivered to Australia within two weeks and works great. -
Hi Last week we did a multiplayer LAN session with the carrier group set to 56Km/Hr (30.24 Knots) Several bad things happened. F18 player aircraft could not easily turn right onto the Cat without massive power input. Aircraft were being pushed sideways down the deck. Other escort ships, tankers and cargo ships could not keep up with the carriers. Stennis could not keep up with Kuznetsov, even though set to the same speed Player in a Harrier rearming on the deck of the Tarawa unit paying attention jwas pushed Into the water by the wind over the deck. So 30Knotts may be too much? I’m not sure. I thought ED had fixed aircraft skittering on the deck when parked?

Hi Suntsag Would this work for the Viggen and Harrier? Is it available to download? Cheers Mark
-
Yes, I,think it’s something ntroduced in the last update? I have no mods, no exports. I was was on Anztac “Through the Inferno” server yesterday. I had the exact same situation as the previous video post did, when on the Tarawa. At first I thought I had put down too hard, but soon realised the aircraft was completely fine. I also witnessed this effect with helicopters landing at the next Airbase I was at. They were totally obscured by this as they touched down.

Hi I think TrackIR is what your looking for. https://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/products/

Totally agree, it’s consistency that will stop confusion. Cheers

Ok, thankyou Zarma! I will add those units and test it again :-) Cheers Boomer

+1 This is really a must have feature for mission builders on all DCS Maps Please add it as a standard feature.

Hi BIGNEWY, I set up a new mission with the latest build of 1.58 Release version. I put a FARP down and added a Harrier at a nearby Airbase. I went into the Fly mission in the ME and took off from the Airbase and then vertical landed on the actual Heli-pad of the FARP I tried to arm and refuel, (all the menu radio options were there, but I got no response from the ground crew. Is there anything else I need to do? Or does it only work in the open green area of the FARP and not the pads themselves?

Recent MP issues / Instability Hi Sith, 1. I fly online with a small group, the 62nd Fighting Falcons in Queensland Australia, after recent 1.57 updates we are seeing some network issues and gun runs and CBU strikes causing lag in game between people in the same city with 30-40 ping between each other and the server. Secondly last night I created a simple 4 ship F5-E mission to test for a display. The mission was created with the latest 1.57 version available in the stable version. I hosted it, and as each person joined the multiplayer mission there DCS instance crashed back to desktop. We then moved it to,our online server to check if it was just me hosting, but same thing occurred. I have included the server crash log and the mission. DCS Crash Log.txt Smerch Convoy.miz

The truth is in the "Tail" ;-) I'm not sure how realistic this woud be IRL, but I just had a similar experience in DCS 2.1 flying a mission in Nevada with KA50. I took some heavy ground fire hits. Checked systems, all seemed OK although the helo was now becoming hard to keep pointed straight in my hover. I continued my attack and managed two Vickers missile kills on those BTR-80's that had hit me. I then tried to move off, but found I could only side slip the chopper and could not point the chopper or fly nose forward. I still had collective control though and got some height and decided to look at the damage from external view. To my surprise the whole tail section was missing! No wonder it had been hard to point the chopper. I still managed (with some difficulty) to fly to a nearby FARP and get down safely. The KA is an inigma, at times it can be destroyed by a single burst of fire from almost anything. This time it suffered catastrophic damage from an auto cannon and I get to fly home ;-)

GTX 1060 6GB might not handle Normandy map.
Boomer_QLD replied to SeaW0lf's topic in DCS: Normandy 1944
Hi I have the ASUS 1080Ti 11GB FE It works great on Normandy but does seem to max out the card and use all of it's 11GB Here is a video of the performance with a Hawk down low https://62ndfightingfalcons.slack.com/archives/C277L9Z19/p1496563312859423 -
Yes in my experience 700ft HOF can be quite devastating to convoys and grouped armour. This is especially true in low level attacks in steep mountainous terrain where you may deploying them from relatively low altitudes in a valley. :-)
-
No I think I'll wait until the dust settles. ;-)

3 Versions of DCS on my SSD, no thanks I'll wait until you come to a decision about which one is more important to you :-)

Hi Thanks for everyone's replies. I realize now my post should have gone into the "release version" thread. :-) I'm on Windows 10 64, im not using Oculus. I'm using the latest Nvidia drivers. I have a 1980 x 1200 16:10 monitor plus a smaller 15" monitor for exporting MFD's and kneeboard. This was working well, pre update. I was getting good playable frame rates on 1.53 as indicated in my first post, at mostly high settings. After the 1.55 update, it's dropped to under 20FPS at the airbase now in MP. This does nothing for the feeling of realism in game as aircraft jerk their way down the runway. :-) Hopefully there is a fix out there, I don't think with my current hardware configuration, I should have to upgrade my video card to a 1080 to be able to play the latest update at reasonable fidelity and frame-rate. Cheers Boomer

Hi I'm just wondering if anyone has had a large performance hit since upgrading to 1.5.5.58891 I was running on high settings with some stuff turned off to optimize. 1.53 had me running around 60FPS to 100FPS depending on location Immediately after upgrading my FPS is 18-25. With 30 possible occasionally when up high and away from the airbase. Switching to medium totally stock settings had no effect on FPS. I'm not prepared to run on low for any reason ;-) System specs ASUS Z170 Deluxe with I7 6700K @4.00Ghz 32Gb Kingston HYperX Fury 2400MHz DDR4 RAM Samsung 950 Pro 512GB M.2 NVME ASUS GTX 780 3Gb I'm still getting great frame rates 60- 130 FPS in DCS 2.0 NEVADA What has changed from V1.53-V1.55 that's killing the frames? Yes I realize the video card is older, but it was doing just fine until the last update. Cheers Boomer

Toggle switch for NWS +1 I mapped it to a toggle switch on the Warthog Throttle. It now works perfectly. I also use this for the F86 and F'Cliffs Aircraft The F-5 easily taxi's around the airbase. Once lined up, I switch off the toggle, floor the throttles and head for the other end :-) I really don't want to hold a switch the whole time or over use one by pressing it every 5 seconds while taxiing. The jet is twitchy on landing, so I wait until the chute has really slowed it down, before application of both brakes simultaneously. I have MFG Crosswind V2 and have no curve, it just needs a light touch.

If you can see the target and lock it with TGP, you then switch to mav and slave it to the TGP. You could then try "Force correlate" mode on the H Maverick to lock it on a point on the ground. This is just a guess as I don't usually take H Mavs on night missions. Cheers Boomer

The Enemy Within SP Campaign FULL for A10C
Boomer_QLD replied to baltic_dragon's topic in User Created Missions General
Hi, I fly regularly with a flight sim group, 62nd Fighting Falcons in Australia. We are always looking for good multiplayer missions, and often fly different roles/Aircraft in them. I have recently downloaded this campaign and liked it a lot. I was wondering if you have had any requests for, or have thought about doing MP versions of this or future releases? -
Hi border2 That is awesome! Because of the cockpit setup I have, and the need to power the iPads, I have the iPad I use for MFD's and radio page with Home button on the left, which is why I'm seeing the orientation changes regularly I guess.. Great that there is a fix in the works Thanks again.
