  1. "soon" there are more than a few features that were showed off years ago that we have yet to see.
  2. hmm if it can still see your burner plume there is a chance that it could track that. In fact that's a big problem a lot of early IR missiles had is they couldn't see the jet and didn't have a "lead program" built in to compensate so they would sometimes pass through the burner plume just out of proxy fuze range. Don't know for certain if the older uncooled R60 could even track you from the inital launch angle but I wouldn't say its impossible just highly highly highly unlikely, the drawings from above show quite well how limited the seeker is. However the second you broke into it I highly doubt it would have been able to keep track of you, especially if you pulled out of burner.
  3. Well in my own CFD work I was rather impressed. Lets not forget... the SD10 is a much bigger missile than the 120. Its basically a more aerodynamic sparrow with modern propellants.
  4. From my own testing based off the A1-F18AC-NFM-200 manual for a landing at 32klbs, no wind, 15°C, 8.1α, 135kt approach speed, at a 4.0° glide slope, with no flare and full flaps should be in the range of 3000-3720ft for full anti-skid braking. The variation is due to an approximation for additional range for a no flare landing. Unkown if this additional factor adds in a safety margin as well. Current in game stopping distance is ~4000ft
  5. ? Ok for this test I just used my HARM program, the constant CD value is 0.0615 the average value across the range of M0.57 (rough min speed of a lot of missiles) to M4.0. Pretty much, DCS is really behind on a lot of stuff related to EW. Not much if at all, the second the chaff drops below the filter speed it will be filtered out, the only thing I could possible see it doing is increasing the base background noise. But I don't think this would actually do much, besides the time the chaff would stay in the tracking cone is so small especially in the beam. Additionally one has to wonder about what kind of radar filtering techniques one could do with the modern electronics on the amraam as well.
  6. I think ED should focus on the mid 2000's as that seems to be the era they have the most assets in. They could focus on a Ukraine/NATO/Russia war and a mid 2000's PG war as well / the equipment used in iraq at the time. I'd love to see S300's with the 48N6, SA12, SA14/16, Sa17, Patriat Pac2-gem, pac3, etc. A more fleshed out Russian/UK/NATO navies with units such as the early Type 45's. Also desrt camo's for all the ground units would be a welcome addition as well.
  7. I was wondering is it possible to add additional functionality to the DTC? It'd be nice to have the ability, like in BMS, to be able to customize the default setup of the NAV,A/G,A/A modes so I can have my radar on the left page (for example) and SMS/CBMT page on the bottom. I don't know if this is possible but it wouldn't suprise me if it is.
  8. Yeah that would help as well (and should be added ontop of what I recommended imo), it doesn't seem like it would be hard to do, maybe tedious at most. For ARM's you'd just need to add an "offset" value to each unit with a radar, which is added to the arm's targeting logic so it tracks this offset point instead of the CM. For ships it'd be more difficult as they have more radars but i'm sure if you can have one offset point, you can make it so it'll target different ones dependent on aspect.
  9. I've definitely noticed that i've been getting booted out of servers a lot more the past few patches. Not to mention the various other long standing MP bugs such as missiles not despawning.
  10. Yeah I think this may be related to the fact the AI can't see/engage anything below 45(50?)ft. Doesn't help the dispersion of the CIWS guns is hilariously high as well.
  11. Hmm any chance as an interim solution (I know ED has a very very very long history of being all or nothing but maybe just this once) of making it so if a harm hits a ship its radars get destroyed/disabled?
  12. I was wondering if ED had considered given us more AI aircraft that could fit into the more modern mid 2000's environment of the game right now. Such as a AI only growler, rhino, eurofighter, Grippen, F2, F15K etc etc etc? I wouldn't even really demand a great FM, for the F2 you could just copy paste the F16 FM and call it good.
  13. Yes please!!! this would be such a nice addition and I have serious doubts it would be hard to do.
  14. There have been some recent threads of people questioning the performance of the AGM-88 HARM. I had posted this on hoggit but I guess I should also post it here for those who never visit hoggit.
  15. Open beta without a doubt. - it’s where all the servers are - can’t join open beta servers with stable build - gets updates far quicker - is where all the cool new toys get added sooner - yes your mods if they work on stable should work on the open beta.. Ultimately the stable branch is really a delayed open beta. It has all the issues that dcs has but gets updates far less frequently. Yes there may be fewer bugs but the ones that are introduced won’t get fixed anywhere near as soon as the open beta.
  16. Yeah if the host goes down the whole network goes down. But I was the host and was observing all of this. Same observations even with other people hosting.
  17. Me and a friend have been flying the jeff for a couple of dozen hours in MP and have noticed some weirdness with the datalink: - Some targets never show up. It is not uncommon for some targets just to never how up on someone's datalink. You can see them, have them STT'd yet the other person doesn't see them on their HSD. - Sometimes a target you have either in TWS, SAM, or even STT won't show up on your own HSD. - In addition to this when it does show up there are times when the position of the target and heading is not what it really is. It differs from the radar, often quite drastically. - Some targets just stop updating. Even though their being seen by someone in the network such as an AWACS their position will just stop updating for quite some time. Usually ending with it fading off of the datalink. -Something else we've noticed is that occasionally a target would be getting regular updates but then just disappear off the data even though they are being targeted by someone else. - We've also noticed some targets just take forever to get their position updated, far longer than it should. Other times they just disappear as noted above this more concerns that someone has a bandit in TWS or STT yet on my HSD it may be 5-10 seconds between updates.
  18. I do have to wonder though how feasible would a full fidelity Japanese aircraft even be? From my understanding the overwhelming majority of the documents related to anything military in Japan was burned right before/after their surrender. So is there even enough info left/SME's left to be able to make a high fidelity aircraft?
  19. The seekers on said missiles are monopulse seekers and not the Cassegrain antenna on the slotback radar so they don't have this limitation. Also from my understanding the sidelobe radiation that blinds the antenna at extreme angles does so by increasing the base noise level to a point it can't see anything because the horn that blocks this radiation isn't on the antenna gimbals.
  20. Imo, its because chaff acts like flares in game not like chaff. Probs a leftover from LOMAC if not the Flanker 2.0 days. - This is accurate behavior for the slotback radars. Their cones can't rotate fully due to the design of the radar cone. And as far as i'm aware this blinds the radar largely due to sidelobe radiation, i'll need to read up on it again to be sure. Ehh from my own CFD the performance gain for the ER/ET (R/T are quite bad) isn't as much as I think you think it is. Besides the ER will always be fundamentally limited by the fact its a SARH missile compared to the amraam.
  21. Question I have is if the art on the radar is showing what is happening accurately, because if so, then that 13 bar scan would explain a lot.
  22. I agree with that since the last update the radar is not detecting targets as well as it did in the first few patches after launch.
  23. CFD is a powerful tool: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mnCsA6-d5ZzV1uL7UeaNgyg_E66vGt6A/view?usp=sharing
