You completely glossed over my point. We are not discussing whether someone can have fun with a limited content E/A module. We are talking about pricing. Why should someone today, 8 months after release of an E/A module get the map cheaper than I did when I was marketed to get in early for the BEST price. This isn't even the first sale on this map. Why would I ever trust their early access pricing again?
-
The point is, the map has only been released for under a year of E/A I believe and it's already more than 50% off. The fact it's finally getting better just proves the point. Why pay early adopter price for a poor launch when you can wait a year and get a better version for 50% off? This is getting very frustrating. I expect deep discounts on older maps but not new maps that are still in E/A.

I feel the exact same thing is going to happen with my Afghanistan purchase that happened with my Kola purchase. I don't think it's even been a year and Kola (while still in E/A) has dropped over 50% That is really a slap in the face to those that get marketed that early adopters save more in E/A. It's obvious now that modules will be cheaper once it's actually better. It's becoming quite frustrating. That's why I'm not buying Iraq. I'll wait for a more fleshed out map and cheaper. No need for it now anyway.

Saying we're working on it and you will be happy with the results is not an update. The whole map was supposed to be completed by now as per their original FAQ. We are way behind schedule and we are getting next to no communication on it. Due to this, I didn't buy the Iraq map, which in all honesty I would have preferred. I'm not doing it anymore.

The two closest to the airport. They have clutter around them but I didn't see the sphinx either unless I missed it. I know it's not MSFS but if you are going to bother to say you updated the Pyramids, you would think you did all of them.
-
Why did they only update 2 of the pyramids? You would think the same skins could go on all of them wouldn't you? The others look like sand castles.
-
They claimed to have updated the Pyramids. I think they only did 2..lol. The rest still look like sand castles. Where bridges and roads meet still look funky as well. A whole year for an update?

So, after many attempts to figure this problem out, I think I have it sorted out and hope if anyone else has this issue they may have been doing the same thing. After the last time I did a repair, everything was back to normal and no graphical issues were happening for about a week. Suddenly the issue happened again and I believe I narrowed it down to what is causing the corruption of the graphic files. I realized that the issue would happen after I had been flying in MSFS 2020. It would not happen if I just directly went into MSFS but it would happen if I used a separate app called MSFS Map Enhancement. Trying to rack my brain about what had changed on my computer to keep causing this graphical corruption I realized that I downloaded this new app for MSFS roughly when my DCS issue started happening. This app allows you to load more updated Bing map data and also Google map data which makes the world much more up to date. I have no idea why this MSFS app would affect DCS but it appears to be the culprit. I tried several times loading into MSFS and then exiting and loading into DCS and there would be no problem but if I run the MSFS Map Enhancement app along with MSFS and then exit and enter DCS the graphical corruption will be back. End result, I removed the app. Unfortunate but I don't know why it's causing the conflict. It does like to play havoc with Microsoft defender. I hope this finally solves my issue and I hope if anyone else has used this app and had problems with DCS it will help them as well. Eagle Dynamics should make note of this for the future. Thanks for all the replies.

Northern Israel / Southern Lebanon detail removed
Nightstalker replied to Flying Toaster's topic in Bugs and Problems
After a YEAR with no updates to this map, they finally put one out and completely stay quiet on the fact they gave with one hand and took away the other. To be honest, I thought the northern part of the map was going to be getting MORE work as I felt it was the weakest part of the map and I enjoy flying in that area due to present conflict in the area. The Syria map already did a much better job of this area and I hoped the Sinai map would be improved here, not REMOVED. It's starting to become a real gamble investing in these maps lately. This needs to be resolved immediately or refunds need to be issued. I can't believe in all of the years I've been with DCS 2024 is the first year I actually asked for a refund and it may now be twice. Keeping this completely secret until customers "noticed" is just disgraceful.- 264 replies

That whole folder has an exception in my anitvirus. The next thing would be to do an exception for the whole saved games folder..lol Is there any chance a full uninstall and re-install of the whole sim might help? All I've done is do repairs. I just find it extremely odd that this only started happening since the Afghanistan map update. I've NEVER had this before the last few weeks. Suddenly it has happened 3 times. I do not have a VPN.

Well, it was fine for one day. I shut down the computer this morning due to a storm. When I restarted the computer and went into DCS, I was met again with this. I hope we can figure it out this time. I'm getting pretty frustrated with it. This has never happened in all of the years I've owned DCS until the Afghanistan patch. dcs.log

Sorry, I don't understand. I started the game, saw that it was messed up, exited and grabbed the file. Do you want me to fly around in a messed up game and then grab the file? The game is fixed again because each time I do a repair it fixes it. I just never know how long it will last. Is this the file? dcs.log

It got to that level BECAUSE of the backlash at release. It should be noted that it’s not Razbam actually making this map, it’s the same guys who are doing the Kola for Orbx.

You see, this is the type of comment that worries me. The word "tweaking" is not what is needed here. There is a "huge" amount of work needed on this 'S/E portion" of the map that was stated to be "for all intents and purposes, feature complete". I've been switching back and forth between Afghanistan and other maps and I see none of the issues present on this map on others like Syria or even the new Kola map. It will take a huge amount of work to make Afghanistan look as good as Syria, which in my opinion is the bar that has been set for a quality map. The only other place I've seen this type of postage stamp, jigsaw puzzle piece imaging is in the upper northern part of Sinai which is the overlapping area to the Syria map. The other two sections of Afghanistan are supposed to release over the next 6 months which worries me that if those two portions have to be completed in the next 6 months how is this first unfinished portion going to get proper attention? We keep hearing that ED is in a good financial situation, so why rush products like this to market in this state. Why announce the Chinook is releasing and then yank it for weeks to further work on it instead of just waiting to announce release when it's actually ready? It didn't get held up for a "bug", it got held up for further development. This is all just very bizarre. I'm quite tired of the nauseating remarks from people that just jump onto a forum thread and start whining about the so-called whiners. We are paying customers. I've been around since before this sim was even called DCS and I've spent a ridiculous amount of dollars on it, so yes, I feel entitled to complain if a product doesn't seem up to acceptable standards. I obviously support ED or I wouldn't have been around so long and spent so much money on it. That doesn't mean I won't speak up when it's warranted. The F16 was a very bad release and I feel like we are close to that level of release again with this map and we almost had it with the Chinook. We also have an Iraq map and another plane announced to be released in 2024. I'm not sure how that is possible. Maybe they have hired a whole new team of developers?

That’s the problem. I will have to wait for the issue to happen again as I fixed it by doing a repair. It has happened twice in the past week. I will have to see if it happens again and what might trigger it. I have flown yesterday and today with no issues since the repair but this happened before where I repaired it, flew fine for a few days and then suddenly the issue happened again. Thanks for the assistance. The next time it happens I will immediately upload the file.
-
The issue is only affecting DCS. It’s not affecting anything else like MSFS or IL2 which are on the same drive. As I mentioned I’ve had everything excluded from Anti-virus. This issue only started in the past week and a half since the major update but it first happened after I purchased the Kola map a couple days after the update. Everything was fine for numerous flights and then came back to the game the next day and this happened. Did a repair and it was fixed. Fine again for numerous flights over several days and then all of a sudden it’s back again. Repair fixed it again. Not sure for how long. The only other thing that changed was un-parking my cores which I noticed had happened.

Ever since the Afghanistan update I've been having weird graphic anomalies happening when launching the game. Restarting the computer, removing shaders does not fix the problem. When I enter the game and go to the mission editor the map will go all green camo. I will get the same affect on the aircraft when in the loadout screen. If I launch the mission everything in the world will be green camo. The only thing that will fix it is a complete running of the DCS repair program. The first time it happened I upgraded to the newest Nvidia driver but the problem has occurred again. Win11, RTX 4080, I9 13900k, 32g DDR5
