Go to Razbam simulations. There are lots of photos and a video of their South Atlantic map and assets. Looking very nice.

Should WINWING sell HOTAS seperately???
Nightstalker replied to WINWING's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well, I wish you had responded to my question about this a week ago. I wouldn't have bought the throttle I just purchased!!!! -
I own the TPR pedals. Next to my Virpil stick, the TPR pedals have so far been the best purchase I’ve ever made in regards to my flight sim hobby. I just can’t describe how buttery smooth they are. I can literally control the rudders with nothing more than the pressure of my big toe on each pedal. I love helicopters but they were very frustrating to control until I got one of these. Now helicopters are a joy to fly. The unit is very sturdy. It is also very adjustable for foot angle or tension. In 30 yrs of buying flight sim gear, this was definitely one of my smartest purchases. It just made such a difference. Last point. For such a large purchase I felt more confident that if there was a problem I could go to my local store for a return or service. I didn’t want to have to be shipping that thing across the pond.

I absolutely love my 2080ti. I agree the prices have gotten stupid but remember one thing, it affects the price of older cards as well. I sold my 980ti for almost the same price I paid for it 3 years before, due to people not wanting to pay the price of the new cards. That cut the cost of my new one almost in half. Getting into the top end market is the kick in the nuts but after that it's much easier to deal with. There's nothing like running DCS on max settings with 100 + frames per second in 2k (at least pre-2.5.6 which I hope to get sorted out). My whole reason for not stepping to VR is due to the fact I never want to go back to 40ish or less frames per second. No thanks, I want the smooth feel and all of the eye candy.

Yes, the water looks absolutely amazing!

Try "P-51 Bomber Escort to Caen". I drop right down to single digits. I removed Wake Turbulence but it made no difference for me.
-
I too can run 2.5.6 the same as 2.5.5 when it comes to normal free flight. Are you testing with AI in the area. I don't mean an AI target. I mean watching AI move about on the ground around you, taxi past you etc. Have you tested in a WWII mission involving bomber escort where there are numerous AI in the air. My frames will drop greatly just watching AI taxi by me on the runway. It will seesaw up and down 20 or more frames. In a WWII mission escorting planes my frames will drop from 100 down to below 20 or even single digits. Intel 9700k, Asus 2080ti, 32GB DDR4, SSD.

I downloaded the F-86f yesterday and grabbed a mission called "Dogfighting_with_Migs". Started the mission in the air at 110 fps and as soon as we engaged the migs the frames dropped right down to 35 and it became unflyable. This has become the common denominator with all of my observed frame rate issues. It's always the AI.

I tried mission: DCS_P51_Bomber_Support_Caen_-_Escort Mission started and I'm 20,000 or so feet up over water with many many planes around. My frame rate was 11 FPS. Using MSI afterburner: GPU was 49 Degrees , 18%, 0%, 45% MEM 9663 CPU1 30% CPU2 9% CPU3 11% CPU4 9% RAM 17360 Fly the same plane in the same area on free flight and I would be at 120 or more FPS at 2k resolution, 4xMSAA, settings all on high. I tried mission: DSC_Spitfire_Battle_of_Britain_-_Royal_Fleet Sitting on the ground cold and dark. 120 FPS. Two Spitfires start to taxi past me and my frames drop to around 50 and then slowly go back up. Definitely a link to AI problem. Intel 9700k, Asus 2080ti, 32 GB DDR4, SSD, Win 10

I have been playing around all day with different modes. I have the same fps as 2.5.5 as long as there are no AI of note. If I log into a mission such as an Escort the bombers WWII mission my frames will start off at over 100 and slowly drop and drop the closer I get to the AI. When the bombers start dropping their bombs I will drop all the way down to 18 or 19 frames. I booted up an "instant action" scenario where I was sitting in a cold start on the tarmac. My frames were at about 120. A Heli was sitting on the tarmac near me and when I was sitting there looking at it start up my frames dropped by 30-40 frames. This also happened while sitting in a cold start in the F16. I watched 2 vipers taxi past me and my frames just dropped. The problems don't seem to have anything to do with the new shaders or water. I can hop in a warbird and fly across the treetops of Caucasus at a constant 98-100 fps in 2k, high settings, 4xMSAA without a sweat. Intel 9700k, Asus 2080ti, 32 Gig DDR4, SSD. NO VR, Single player only.

If any of you haven't seen the Grim Reapers video of a recent interview with Nick Grey from ED, I suggest you give it a view or listen to it in the background. It opened my eyes to just how much work goes into creating content for DCS and as frustrating as early access seems to us it is an absolute necessity to the company. It certainly gave me a whole new view on things.

Can we all try to help the matter? I've noticed that missions are the main culprit for me. Free flight for me is screaming along like normal in 2.5.5. If I switch to a mission I then start to see wild fluctuations of frame rate. I suspect that many of the fan created missions from the forums may no longer work properly. One of the WWII escort missions I downloaded dropped me down to 12 frames per second. I'm not using VR and only playing SP.
-
Ya, thanks. You should read through the thread.
-
Yes, this is where I'm noticing the problem. Free flight seems to scream along perfectly.
-
As another test, I flew my Spitfire over Normandy about 200 feet above the trees with only my wingman. I flew a fairly constant 92-98 fps. I'm wondering if the AI are causing problems.
-
Just to help ED understand what's going on here, I will try to explain a little more. The problem for me is not the max frame rate. I can still get frame rates up in the area of 140 fps at 2k resolution with 4xMSSA. Sounds great right? Yes, except that the frames will then slowly drop or swing dramatically for no normal reason. In the mission P-51D_Bomber_Escort, I start the mission at approx. 20,000 feet in clear sky over the water escorting some bombers. As I fly straight, over the water continuing to look in the same direction, my frames will slowly drop from 130 down all the way to the 60's. Moments later they will climb back up to 130 and so forth. This is all while flying straight with nothing changing around me over water. At one point when the bombers start to drop bombs my fps dropped to 19. I have started a mission from cold start and switched to an outside view, leaving the camera looking in one direction and watched the same thing with the frame count. It will bounce 20 -40 frames while I'm not moving, looking around etc. I'm not using the 445 Nvidia drivers that have been causing issues. I have cleared out my shaders and fxo files. This issue was not happening before 2.5.6. Intel 9700k, Asus 2080ti, 32 gig DDR4, SSD
-
Sorry, but no fps improvement here either. Not running in VR. Wild frame rates still happening. I can sit on the runway looking in one direction and watch my fps jump 30 or 40 frames up and down. Sigh :(
-
I never updated to the 445 drivers and I'm seeing those wild changes in frame rate since 2.5.6 so it's not just an Nvidia driver issue. I've notice massive drops (100 down to 18 or 19) when AI come into view. Even parked on the ground, when planes taxi by my frames will drastically drop for no reason. Kate mentioned that the new water textures are causing lower frame rates but I've seen these crazy drops when I'm 20-30,000 feet in the air. _____________________________________________________________________________ Intel 9700k, Asus 2080ti, 32 gigs DDR4, SSD.

Sorry, this is another sore point that has given me pause when it comes to EA purchases. Yes, you receive a 20% discount to purchase EA or even pre-purchase but it is really upsetting to me to see that if I had only waited 5 months after release I could have had a 50% discount (VIPER). So you help support the company with a pre-purchase, suffer through a release which was obviously too early and then when the module actually starts to flesh out you could have had a much more substantial discount. This really doesn't instill confidence in me to invest early in DCS modules. I understand modules dropping in price over the years but only months after release into early access is starting to change my thinking process. In fairness, DCS is not the only flight sim to do this. I bought two E/A modules from it's competitor with a 10 dollar discount only to watch them drop by 30 dollars almost immediately after full release. I've learned my lesson there. I love DCS and that other product as well. I don't mind supporting companies that provide me with my hobby and I can luckily afford to, but sometimes I just don't like being slapped in the face for that support. Mostly this is all just first world problems...lol. Some people don't have food.

Did I miss something? They did not say there was a host of bugs, they quite clearly stated that the problem holding up SC involves multiplayer desync errors. How is this going to cause a problem on single player?
-
It's been wild how far the fps swings since the update. I usually run close to 100 fps in 2k with high settings. I'm now swinging wildly from 100 down to as low as 19 at times. Even when 20,000 feet up the fps can just swing. I tried to run a mission with the P51, escorting bombers and it was un-playable as the frames would drop all the way down to less than 20 at times. Asus 2080ti, Intel 9700k, 32 gigs of DDR4 and an SSD. Everything used to be silky smooth.

Did Thrustmaster not announce just recently a newly designed warthog base? This could be why there is limited supply of the originals.
