I fully understand only 1/3 of the map is completed. I'm only flying in the S/W portion of the map, but even this area seems to be dotted with full detail and non full detail. I have no idea which series of mountains are supposed to be detailed and which are not because lots of mountains in the S/W look like they have no detail and very angular edges. The hand crafted area looks fantastic. I've flown this same area of the map in MSFS2020 which is the present benchmark in "flight sim graphics" and I can tell you that the DCS map looks WAY better. The only thing that looks better in MSFS is the mountains.

I get it too on my RTX 4080, I9 13900k, 32g DDR5. I don't get it on any of the other maps I've tested. I've pretty much ran out of options to try. I've removed shaders numerous times, performed a repair and even removed and re-installed the map. Some areas like Kandahar city or some of the mountains around the "high res" area cause more of it. I've noticed if I start from the mission editor it happens more especially if I start changing aircraft for some reason.

Maybe you need to go to the first page and first post of the Afghanistan map announcement and actually read what this map was going to release like including extensive performance testing. You sound like someone who just had his favourite sports team insulted. These modules are not cheap and customers have every right to complain if they’re not happy. If you’re happy go fly a plane instead of white knighting on the forums.

That is the problem with taking pre-orders. Once you have people's money you are under the gun to deliver in the stated or at least near to stated time. I wish they would just stick to early access discounts and stop the pre-orders. It takes the pressure off giving out dates.

I had the choice to download both but chose Afghanistan. Inside the module manager at the actual game screen, not the startup screen my manager says Southwest Afghanistan.
-
Dude, do you even read what you buy? It's the S/W map that is the high rez area. It's literally called, Southwestern Afghanistan if you bought the partial map. ED has also stated that this is feature complete so....?

You've never run a company if you think you can call your paying customers spoiled rotten whingers as you say.

I have been flying on it off and on spending more time trying to fix the performance. If I log onto any other map such as the Sinai or even S/A I get a nice smooth as silk flight at up to 160 fps with my settings maxed out in 2k. If I hop onto the Afghanistan map and fly out of Kandahar flying N/B I will go smooth as silk until I start hitting different areas along the highway dropping from 30 - 60 fps causing major stutter. I have tried all of the usual methods to fix this by cleaning out the shader files etc. Now I'm actually running a repair to see if the map was borked during install. As I said, I can go to another map and fly smooth but when I return to the Afghan map the stutter starts and I mean stutter! I find the towns and the airports look nicely detailed but when you move out of them into the other areas, still within the "high detail" area the ground textures are underwhelming and the mountains are really disappointing. Some areas you will see vehicles parked on slopes half floating in the air. Lots of work needed on this map even on the high detail area from my testing so far. Update: A full re-install of the Afghanistan map seems to have slowed down the stutter but I'm still finding the city of Kandahar itself to have some performance problems. It's been 5 tries now flying north up the highway from Kandahar airport to the city of Kandahar and when you get part way through the stutter fest starts. Windows 11, RTX 480, I9 13900k, 32g DDR5, 2T SSD

RAZBAM Situation Post Archive (will be deleted)

I have to tell you, I'm more annoyed to see the South Atlantic map now on sale for 50% off in the summer sale. What is the sense of purchasing these modules with the "supposed" early adopter discount only to see them come on sale for 50% off while they are STILL in E/A. I'm really getting weary of this now. Especially since the S/A map is the most disappointing map I've purchased in DCS and why this is why I won't purchase Kola at 59,99 right now. -
Afghanistan launches on June 26 so I doubt you will hear anything about Iraq yet. That’s not how ED markets.

What is difficult to understand? Honestly, I'm not being argumentative here. If you are uncomfortable with the situation of the F15 not being finished or not becoming finished you can receive a full credit to your account. You are not getting a refund because the plane still works and NOBODY has announced it's dead. You are not getting a refund for the other modules because they all still work and most are considered finished except for the S/A map which is actually not being made by RAZBAM just under it. If the whole agreement goes south and ED has no ability to continue updating the modules they will have to look at refunds. They have already made a comment about this earlier in this very thread that you are protected if you wait until the end of the contractual dispute. I think it was very fair of ED to offer full credits for another module at this time seeing as the F15 is still working. I asked for a credit and received it. I felt there were lots of modules/maps coming out this year and I could better use the credits elsewhere until this gets resolved. If it's resolved, I will happily re-purchase the F15. It seems win/win to me at this point and I really don't understand the confusion. The F4, Kiowa, Kola map, Afghanistan map, Chinook etc. are all either out or coming soon and maybe even more. I'm sure if an actual DCS fan and you are that concerned about your investment you could find another ONE or more of those modules to spend it on. They have made a fair offer (for the current situation) and you can accept it or wait. It really isn't that difficult to understand. -

No, it’s a store credit. But at least it’s separate from your ED miles. On your account you will see your miles you have banked and below that your cash credit in US dollars 59.99. This at least allows you to credit it to a purchase that is not part of the miles program like the Kiowa or Kola map. Pretty fair if you ask me. You can even just let it sit there and if the matter resolves itself you use it to re-buy the F15. -

Well, I’m happy ED was reasonable and credited my F15 purchase back to me so I can purchase something else I will enjoy. Whoever is at fault is not my concern but I’d rather not have my purchases caught in the middle. I will happily re-purchase the F15 in the future if things are properly settled. I have the F4 and Kiowa to keep me busy for a while. -
Can't figure out cause of random stutters while flying
Nightstalker replied to maverick90's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I get these same stutters since the last patch. I have an I9 13900k but I've never had to mess with my Ecores. Everything has always been butter smooth since multi-threading. -
Latest update multiple cores at 100% 3 second stutters
Nightstalker replied to 104th_Money's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I have mentioned in another thread that I'm having this exact same issue since the latest patch. Consistent micro-stutter every few seconds especially noticeable when looking left or right out of the canopy. I've never had micro-stutter since multi-threading was brough on board. This is new. -
I don't play in VR but it seems from the last or maybe last two patches my buttery smooth gameplay has gone to constant micro-stutters. I had a hamstring injury and didn't sit at the computer for the last few months but now that I've returned and purchased the F4e, I'm now noticing this weird stutter when I look to the left or right out of the canopy. It doesn't just happen in the F4 and it happens on other maps like the Sinai. It's very subtle but you see it happen every 3-5 seconds. I have very good frame rate but the spikes keep happening which causes the stutter. As I said, I was offline for a while but it happened over the last couple of updates. I've tried everything to get rid of it. I've never had micro stutter at all since multi-thread was implemented. I've already excluded DCS from my antivirus along with my TrackIR. I've tried DLSS, MSAA, TAA, TLAA. I've cleaned out all of the shaders numerous times and even did a DCS repair. Nothing is changing the stutter. I9 13900k, 32g DDR5, RTX 4080.

Have we received an answer on this? I would like a credit towards my next DCS module purchase. I don't care who's fault it is, it is certainly not the customer's. This has now been going on for months and I would like either a refund on the F15e or a credit. There is zero communication as both sides hide behind 'legal" reasons for not responding. Personally I don't care, I'm not getting what I purchased and you are not guaranteeing me that I will. Please respond on how to arrange the refund or credit.

It's been delayed since November. I think we've been more then patient. Every 6 weeks we get another DCS update and every 6 weeks we get another let down for Sinai. This makes me not want to invest in maps.

No Sinai updates in February 2024 patch?
Nightstalker replied to VFA41_Lion's topic in DCS: Sinai Map
It was supposed to be out before Christmas, now 2 months later still nothing. -
I thought we were promised a large update in the December beta patch for Sinai???? Just read the patch notes and NOTHING for the Sinai map. How can we have no patches after all this time?

Why do oceans and beaches have no transitional terrain?
Nightstalker replied to liugl's topic in DCS: Sinai Map
This is very noticeable on the Suez Canal as well which I mentioned in another thread. Glad to hear they will look to improve it. -
Just to be clear, I'm only complaining about the Canal area of the map. Most of the rest of the map I've explored looks drop dead gorgeous! Thanks for the reply.

So, I would like to say great job to the devs on their first map. I've enjoyed flying around exploring things these last couple of days. The pros of this map: Very nice job on the cities, buildings, ports etc. The performance is fantastic! In 2k with all of the graphic options maxed out I'm sitting around 180 fps over much of the map unless over a dense city where I still stay above 130. Great job! The negatives so far: Not impressed with the Suez Canal. I hope this is just an early access issue. The canal has literally no water masking or elevation changes. It looks very cookie cutter. I love flying around this area of the world in other flight sims as the color changes in this area are immense. I'm noticing only a few color variations when I fly along the canal which is not realistic at all. I took a flight down the canal this morning in DCS and then took the exact same flight down the canal in MSFS. It was staggering how much more detailed MSFS looked in the same area. So much more color variation, elevations along the canal and beautiful colors of water masking all along the canal. Of course the had crafted buildings and ports are much better in DCS but the ground texturing is very generic right now. Again, I hope to see this all improved in the future. Again, my congrats to the devs on their launch and I look forward to exploring this map for some time to come.

To be honest, I don't blame Razbam, I blame ED. They are the only ones to blame for this and it's actually quite easy to rectify. First off, I don't care about launch dates. I'd rather the module be in good state before release more than just getting it as soon as possible. This month, next month, next year, whatever. What I don't like is the process for pre-purchase. I'm not against pre-purchase as a whole, I'm just against the way ED does it. I basically never purchase modules until the release date is pretty much assured. The pre-order price is the same the day before launch as 4 months before launch. What I noticed with this module is that there has been a lot more "soon", imminent etc. passed about not to mention tweets alluding to impending release. I broke my own rule and pre-purchased last month because I THOUGHT by the tweets that the launch was actually IMMINENT. Silly me. Here's an idea for Eagle Dynamics. How about you don't launch pre-orders until the module is ACTUALLY ready for launch, meaning beta tested and given the green light to release. A Friday news letter would come out saying: "We are pleased to announce that the much anticipated (insert module} has been in the beta testing phase with us for the last 10 weeks and we are pleased to announce that (insert 3rd party) has been given the permission to launch. As of today we will be offering a pre-purchase discount which will last until (insert date) at which time it will change to an E/A discount. We hope you enjoy the YouTube videos about to be coming your way as we await launch day (insert official date). End of problems. The only thing that should cause a minor delay of a couple of days would be on ED's side if there was a beta patch issue not a module issue. It ends all complaints about changing dates/ no dates/ taking money months in advance etc. Just a thought. I think it's more fair for the customers and especially the ones who are willing to slap down their credit card early.
