Yep, he added that AFTER release. It’s BigNewy who posted the original comment which is all we had to go on at the time. They can reinterpret all they want and so can you but “all intents and purposes, feature complete” is pretty self explanatory. No sense debating it anymore. In my opinion it was a poor and rushed release. You are free to believe differently. Hopefully it will eventually improve.

No idea where those photos are from. My point is, the photos I and others posted are not errors or glitches. The whole S/W map looks like the photos I showed. I could have taken hundreds of them. If it was just a few errors I would have just reported them in the bug section. Again “for all intents and purposes feature complete” is not the words I would use for this area of the map.

What does the environment have to do with it? Both are using satellite imagery and placing objects on top. No difference. It should be harder actually in Kola because of all the forest. The difference is one did a better job of blending the POI’s onto the imagery. Both are very early access.

I hopped in the Kiowa and started flying north from Kemi airfield along the river. I must have flown for half an hour of real time over river, forest and green grass without seeing a single town or village. It’s going to be a beautiful map but it’s pretty sparse on POI’s right now. I like it because I feel like I’m flying in Canadian cottage country. I know I’ll never have a Canadian map in DCS so….. I haven’t seen any puzzle piece textures yet though. The Russian area is really well detailed but it’s surrounded by wasteland. That’s just reality though not Orbx.

Unless someone tells me I’m wrong, it’s the same tech as the recent Kola map and I’ve been flying all over it as well in my Kiowa and I’ve seen none of these puzzle pieces on there.

I have been flying around for a week now, and being someone who likes to fly helicopters, this is what I'm seeing everywhere I fly in the S/W portion of the map. It's unfortunately a hodge podge of puzzle pieces stamped on top of satellite imagery. I own all of the DCS maps and I've never seen this before.

What I’m having trouble with is they decided to go the “halfghanistan” route and release each section separately over 3 month intervals. So you would believe, especially by what was posted in the FAQ, that the SW portion would be pretty much done. Why even release in sections if the first part isn’t even done? Not near done! I really can’t tell which part is the SW portion because some parts in the SW look good and some parts look really bad. Don’t you think they should have finished one “part” of the map so you could fly around enjoying that portion and not have you go hunting for the good ones?

I didn’t download process lasso but I did check to see if Windows11 was parking my cores on my I9 13900k and it was. I followed the great video posted elsewhere in the forum here and like magic my stutter all went away. I’ve been flying for 2 days straight on all of my maps including Afghanistan with ZERO stutter or frame drops showing on my DCS fps monitor. The only time a frame drop happens is entering in or out of the F10 map screen. I’ve slowly upped my max fps with vsync enabled from 60 fps to 90 fps to 100 fps and the 2 lines stay completely flat. Thanks.

This thread should have a big orange “OPINION” stuck next to it like the one called “not gorgeous, just more of the same!
-
Lol, what the heck is with the big orange “OPINION” stuck next to the title of this thread now? Did they stick “OPINION” next to a thread praising the map? This is downright hilarious. We keep getting “E/A comments from the same people that clearly posted “FEATURE COMPLETE”. It’s like trying to ask a question to a politician.

This is the actual thread. I read so many forum threads earlier I couldn't remember which one it was. Home English Digital Combat Simulator DCS 2.9 Bugs and Problems Installation and Operation Multi-Threading Bug Reports (Temp) Disabling Core Parking in windows fixed my stuttering in menu and game

Here's the actual video that is from the thread. Worked like a charm. I'm no tech guy.

DCS CPU Bound, what settings raise GPU usage?
Nightstalker replied to truebrit's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I figured out what the issue was for me. After 4 days of frustration I noticed in my Resource Monitor that my CPU Cores were parked. Not sure if you are aware of this issue. I can only assume a Microsoft Win11 update over the last couple of months messed with my windows settings. I looked up the Core parking thread under Bugs & Performance and followed the easy video in the forum thread. Did a computer restart and then hopped back into DCS. Like magic, my buttery smooth fps with ZERO stutters. I’ve spent all morning flying on Afghanistan, Syria, S/A and Sinai with the DCS fps monitor up and everything was stutter free for prolonged flight. I fly on a 2k 34” Ultrawide with everything maxed and sliders all to the right. I don’t like my fans going crazy so I limit fps to 60 and turn on vsync. The 2 lines in the fps monitor stay completely flatlined the whole time I fly with a locked 60 fps never bouncing. Normally I would be up between 130 - 160 on multithread startup and no DLSS. I just like to keep the fans down. I hope that may help someone else. I was overjoyed after complete frustration for weeks. -
DCS World 2.9.5.55918 Constant Frame Time Spikes
Nightstalker replied to FierceLV's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I don’t want to tell people something they may already know but I’ve spent the last 4 days frustrated over stutter, micro stutter frame drops which seem to have come out of nowhere 2 patches ago and increasing with the Afghanistan map patch. After numerous attempts to fix the problem by removing shaders, running repair, re-installs, setting adjustments etc. I was ready to park the sim until the next patch when I noticed in my Resource Manager that most of my CPU cores were parked. I know many of you know about this issue and so did I but my Cores were re-parked. I can only assume a Win11 update did this a while back which may have coincided with my sudden stutter issues. After following the very easy to do steps explained in the video of the Core Parking thread under bugs & performance, I un-parked my cores. As soon as I went back into DCS all of my stutter was gone! Viewing the DCS fps counter during numerous long flights this morning my 2 lines in the frame counter were completely flatlined for all flights. NO STUTTER. I hope I’m not jinxing myself but I’ve tested flight on almost all of my maps now including Afghanistan and everything is back to butter smooth. Maybe this will help someone as frustrated as I was. Don’t trust Microsoft to not mess with your settings. -
For anyone who has been experiencing frustrating stutter as of late, I seem to have found the culprit for me personally. This issue started after the last patch not the recent one. The recent patch caused things to get worse especially on the new Afghanistan map. After removing shaders numerously, repairs, re-installs, changing settings etc. nothing was working. Just before deciding to park DCS until the next patch, I opened my resource manager and noticed that most of my CPU cores were parked! I know that many people know about this topic but it appears that a possible Windows 11 update messed with my power settings. I followed the video in the forum thread to re-set my core parking and then went back into DCS. I hope to not jinx myself but I have now been spending the morning absolutely stutter free. When I open and run the fps monitor in DCS, my 2 lines are completely flat lined for my whole flight. Smooth as butter. I've tried this on Afghanistan, Sinai, Syria and S/A so far and I have no more stutter. Maybe this will help someone who has noticed a change in performance over the past couple of patches. I remember a Win11 update a while back and it seems to coincide with the time frame of the problems for me. Never trust Microsoft to not mess with your settings..lol.

Well, I don't know about the mouse settings but after getting thoroughly frustrated with the stutter and finally about to give up, I decided to check my Resource Monitor and noticed my processors were parking cores. I don't know if Windows 11 made some changes to my system in an update but after I re-followed the video posted in the Core parking thread, my game went back to silky smooth! I'm not going to celebrate yet, but so far even on Afghanistan which was really bad for me, the last 3 short flights have had NO stutter. Don't trust windows not to mess with your settings! I hope others might have the same issue and can fix it. RTX 4080, I9 13900k, 32g DDR5, Win11

DCS CPU Bound, what settings raise GPU usage?
Nightstalker replied to truebrit's topic in Game Performance Bugs
When mulithreading got released any hint of stutter and frame drops went away for me until the last 2 patches. This one has really ruined my experience. I thought it was the Afghanistan map, but now it’s happening everywhere. I’ve tried everything to get it to stop. Sometimes it gets so bad the whole game freezes. -
They were marketing their new technology so yes, it is definitely a feature.
-
This is why I was willing to buy this map so early as BIGNEWY clearly stated in the Afghanistan Map FAQ in this forum: "DCS: Southwest Afghanistan will receive some updates post-release but will for all intents and purposes be feature-complete."
-
That's my point. It doesn't jive with their AFGHANISTAN MAP FAQ. All ED products are incomplete with bugs. FEATURE COMPLETE means something different.
-
Why do people keep stating "early access" as an excuse. The whole map is considered early access but the S/W is not. People don't seem to know the BIGNEWY posted in the Afghanistan Map FAQ that the S/W Afghanistan portion will release with future updates but FOR ALL INTENTS AND PURPOSES BE FEATURE COMPLETE. This is the issue.
-
Sorry to hear that.
-
I would suggest some of us are upset because of what BIGNEWY posted in the forum under: Afghanistan Map FAQ. ”DCS: Southwest Afghanistan will receive some updates post release but FOR ALL INTENTS AND PURPOSES BE FEATURE COMPLETE. This is the only reason I purchased this map at this period. I feel this was not honest. The SW map needs a lot more work. If it’s for all intent and purposes feature complete I’m not impressed. Neither should you be. Touch your own grass, I’m in the pool right now!

earlyaccess Quality of ground textures, poor transitions
Nightstalker replied to YoYo's topic in Bugs and Problems
It appears the right hand and the left hand….. If you go to the Afghanistan map FAQ thread in the very first post. Go down the page to just above How much will it cost, you will see the paragraph: DCS: Southwest Afghanistan will receive some updates post release but for all intents and purposes be feature complete. I took a screen shot in case it disappears. It’s the only reason I pre-ordered.
