Revisited earlier work, fixed a bunch of mistakes and included omissions. Alongside several other JG 6 planes, worn-out "601090"/"601095" (Interestingly, the plane actually carries both serial numbers, -90 marked port side, -95 starboard.) was surrendered to US troops at Halle, May 8th, 1945. Includes: - Versions with and without swastika - Completely remade normal and specular maps - Completely remade weathering - Texture files are less compressed and higher quality (Minimal to no effect on performance, though larger filesize in return) Installation: #1 Unzip folder to Your DCS installation folder/Bazar/Liveries/FW-190D9 #2 In skin folder, choose .lua file from two sub-folders for swastika or clean and copy file to main folder with other files (Default .lua file is for swastika!) #3 In DCS, select "Payload" tab in Mission Planner and select the skin from the Paint Scheme dropmenu below Download: http://www.mediafire.com/download/mdlc8ta5d8iwy0e/Black3JG6.7z Screenshots in spoiler:

The template only needs to be divided into 4 pieces for the game. You can even combine the normal/spec maps to one 4096x4096 file to make working with them easier. Equal chunks of 2048x2048. Simple way to save these as a texture for the game is to use the Rectangle Select tool and set a fixed size of 2048x2048, Crop to Selection and then just save, after that Undo the crop. If you're worried about losing any work, just save the entire file as a lossless image like a .PNG, then crop and save from that into the split texture files.

Released! Of course! There will probably be more.. Thank you.

Seems that for whatever reason, all traces of the official template have been removed. Odd, since no replacement has surfaced and the original works perfectly with the ingame model. I still have the original as it was released, UV overlay and such. Uploading it as I type. Here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/wa76mpexy4kdp4p/FW_190_Template.7z

"211939" was one of the D-9's surrendered to 10th PRG at Fürth, May 8th, 1945. Run by it's new owners and shown next to "211934" (Found here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=144974 ) in the photographs below. Released! Includes: - Versions with and without swastika - Completely remade normal and specular maps - Completely remade weathering - Texture files are less compressed and higher quality (Minimal to no effect on performance, though larger filesize in return) Installation: #1 Unzip folder to Your DCS installation folder/Bazar/Liveries/FW-190D9 #2 In skin folder, choose .lua file from two sub-folders for swastika or clean and copy file to main folder with other files (Default .lua file is for swastika!) #3 In DCS, select "Payload" tab in Mission Planner and select the skin from the Paint Scheme dropmenu below Download: http://www.mediafire.com/download/p5cefa2jpq8reg5/Black4JG6.7z Screenshots in spoiler:

Because it was already in development by ED before the Kickstarter by Ilya/RRG or even WW2 concept was a thing, but still fits the theme? I feel like I have to keep mentioning this every few months. Just like the P-51 and I doubt ED will cave into severely altering these planes just because someone feels it's not competetive (Which P-51 absolutely is, atleast against the Dora), historical references aside. Of course, if you'd rather not have it... 99% of the people in this thread have not even flown the Spitfire yet, but somehow manage to badmouth it and say how much it is going to suck. And based on what, level top speed? ED has mentioned before, development is based on the information they have available to them to provide the most authentic sim experience, and not what makes the most sense for online gameplay balance. Plus, there's always Kickstarter to try and fund the development of G-14 and A-8 modules... :music_whistling:

Usually 2-3 days. Which is exactly why you shouldn't use it.

If I recall correctly, the official reason was that it was the variant with most information concerning performance available. (But more goes into the "why" DCS WW2 was born in the first place.) And I do believe that. The G -models as a whole were a series of several large and small changes spanning over 2 years that include something a little too "old" for the DCS WW2 setting and something a little too convoluted to be accurately modeled. In general, a K-4 was just like the other one next to it. Most likely because it never got to the same point with the G -models with it's different variations. Not that the things I said above necessarily has anything to do with the documents ED has available to them, but I don't have a reason to not trust them. Some people didn't like this choice, and I personally would've found a G-14 to be more fitting to the scenario, but what's done is done, and we can only hope for more in the future. You are probably referring to this thread alone? There is definitely a lack of actual K-4 paint schemes presented, probably even if the theory above was true. Still, I'm not entirely sure where this statement is coming from. The K-4 alone had 4 distinctive camo patterns, and the colours used to coat these birds go way beyond that. What is even more interesting is that close examination of late-war birds shows the gradual collapse of the RLM and Luftwaffe as a whole, through simple camouflage applied onto aircraft! Ranging from simply not painting the whole wing under surface to save materials and man-hours to the bare minimum of coverage and using "whatever's available" to coat the aircraft. Of course, they're probably not as memorable as the US planes with their flash and show-off, even if a wide range of deployed German planes had a large amount of customization go into them. Alas, the photographs available of K-4's are limited to a very low three-digit range, with even good photographs definitely being lower, in the two-digit range. This limits the scope of work available, but should definitely offer a range fit for a video game. :P Absolutely there's more to come... Personally, I can not give enough credit to Marc-André Haldimann and his Flickr account A fantastic and extensive source of 109 photographs online. But info also comes from books, websites, forum posts and personal study, curiosity driven by passion for the subject. /end hopefully not to OT rant P.S. And if you thought the skin offering for the K-4 was lacking, just wait for the Spitfire

Of course, and numerous others. But the scope is limited to spare everyone's sanity.

If only...

I take it that the reason for having to use the official template is consistency with the official textures? Anyway, sounds like the kind of carrot that would get me to work on these again.
-
I put the important parts into bold. "true" and "false" are rather irrelevant, as "empty" always means no texture is being loaded.
-
The skin you say is not working has swastika turned off? Is basically the line you should look into. Quote from my template topic below:

What is the old description?

Released - HD 109 Cockpit Mod with corrected darker RLM66 colours
JST replied to snowsniper's topic in Bf 109 K-4
Did you install the textures manually? The patch might have simply replaced the custom files (Vanilla textures had changes made, or simply as a part of some file integrity check). Try reinstalling the mod. -
They should be compatible. Atleast all of my skins work exactly as intended in 1.5.
-
First, install this: https://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-texture-tools-adobe-photoshop And below is a template by me, albeit outdated, especially in terms of weathering. You can also find the official one searching the Bf 109 K-4 skin subforum. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=135262

Released!

Finally got around to work on this... Assigned as Geschwaderkommodore of JG 6 in early 1945, Barkhorn flew the Dora on the Eastern Front until his medical leave, after which he joined JV 44 under Adolf Galland. Like with all of his planes, "Christl" is written just below the canopy. Released! Includes: - Versions with and without swastika - Completely remade normal and specular maps - Completely remade weathering - Texture files are less compressed and higher quality (Minimal to no effect on performance, though larger filesize in return) Installation: #1 Unzip folder to Your DCS installation folder/Bazar/Liveries/FW-190D9 #2 In skin folder, choose .lua file from two sub-folders for swastika or clean and copy file to main folder with other files (Default .lua file is for swastika!) #3 In DCS, select "Payload" tab in Mission Planner and select the skin from the Paint Scheme dropmenu below Download: http://www.mediafire.com/download/whsns59yc656wdr/GerhardBarkhornStabJG6.7z Screenshots in spoiler:
