LUA script for controlling AI external lights
Jeepyb replied to Avalanche110's topic in Mission Editor
+1 Id like to know too... -
Both VHF and UHF radios. Happening to everyone using the new (latest) version of SRS on our server. The few guys that havent done the update have no issues and hear everyone 100% of the time.
-
Our group is having issues with SRS since last update: Players intermittently lose radio contact with each other. Player A can hear player B and C. Player C can only hear B intermittently but hears A all the time. etc Any idea ?

Makes sense thanks !

I am unsure of the difference between these two brevity words. I have heard them used by GCIs pretty interchangeably. Since TARGET or COMMIT doesn't tell me what to do with the group I am beeing paired with (there is usually a mission beeing issued after such as KILL, INSPECT, ID etc), I really don't understand what they mean other than a directive call from GCI to ''go after that group''. TARGET Assignment of targeting responsibilities. Coordination of forces, and commander’s guidance requirements on the referenced target or track have been satisfied. Target or track correlation, collateral damage estimate (CDE), and clear field of fire must be accomplished prior to employing ordnance or fires. COMMIT Intercept the GROUP(S) of interest. Set briefed intercept geometry.

5 Virtual Wing Canada // 5e Escadre virtuelle du Canada (5EVC) https://www.5vwing.com Discord 5 vWing Canada is an organisation that puts the pursuit of realism at the forefront of its activities since 2010. This doesn't mean that we require our members to know everything about real life procedures, nor do we claim knowing everything. We simply find pleasure in learning as much as we can about the real deal and using it to improve immersion. 5 vWing is a bilingual (English/French) organisation: Members are free to use the language of their choice to communicate with others and for inner flight radio communication. However, since realism is at the core of what we try to accomplish, English is used for radio communications between flights and with ATC and tactical controllers (JTAC, GCI). We fly on the following modules: F/A-18C (mostly land based to simulate CF-18 Ops) A-10C UH-1 DCS Open Beta, SRS for Comms Ground School Online learning plateform based on teachable. More than 40 different lessons divided in 3 courses will teach everything from the basics of aerodrome operations to Air Policing procedures, BVR tactics, DCA Cruise Missile Defense and more ! We even have a complete course on military tactical helicopter flying! Flight School Complete, objective oriented, well laided out flight training program. Training is normally held on Monday and Wednesday at 1930hrs Eastern Time Zone (ET). We use the free Black Sea Map for most of our operations. [MISSING TRACK FILE] JDAM "IN RNG'' falling short.
Jeepyb replied to Jeepyb's topic in Bugs and Problems
Tried with both, same result Yes. Also used pre planned mode (JDAM display MSN) Same result. Target was a building. I wouldnt be hitting at all if any of these points were the issue... Again I hit dead on if I release closer to the target. In his youtube tutorial, Redkite mentions that ''The JDAM max range is a theoretical maximum range so depending on atmospheric conditions (ie wind) you might still miss''. A couple other youtubers also seem to mention that you need to release closer to the target than the HSI max range bubble suggest. I am just trying to figure out if this is true to real life or a bug. Seems like setting terminal parameters (speed, angle, heading) is not implemented yet. The bomb seem to try to hit at a 90deg angle no matter what you input. Could it be messing up max range calculations ? -
My GBU38s fall short if I dont wait at least a couple of miles after entereing the ''IN RNG'' bubble (20 000, M 0.75). Is something wrong with the range calculation ? Is it me not taking other factors in consideration (wind?).

had same issue in release. deleting \Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config did it for me. Also took care of this issue I had where the chose slot menu didnt pop up automatically upon entering a server or starting a mission (had to press escape)

Why does Jester give bad info and then correct himself?
Jeepyb replied to key_stroked's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I suggest you join a group that does realistic comms and procedures. Add to that a mission that will give you some degree of task saturation; You will make lots of mistakes like this. Everybody does. The pros IRL do too. People make mistakes when they speak on the radio and as long as they are able to catch them, it is just an accepted fact of life. I find this feature very realistic. I don't fly jets but I work in a GCI unit and I hear mistakes like this all the time from both pilots in the middle of complex engagements and my crew members sitting comfortably at their workstation with AC. I'm sure even the most experienced RIO still would have had to say "correction" on the intercom a couple of times per flight. -
Focus in new future projects or finishing the ones already started?
Jeepyb replied to Kongamato's topic in DCS Core Wish List
The other problem is that products that are technically released are still not finished. Products are still full of bugs and missing advertised features (F5 RWR, Huey multicrew) years and years after they are considered released. Finishing and polishing current open beta and so called released products should def be prioritized over new stuff. The worst example of this is Combined Arms. They are still selling this thing for 40USD when it is in a very poor state, full of bugs, outdated UI, no VR support. -

i recommand LotATC for this, but I agree that it should be part of the core game. The F10 map needs alot of work, especially with the way units are displayed and how we interract with AI air units. We should also be able to enter heading altitude speed directly to move AI air units rather than having to do this waypoint and speed slider thing that the AI barely obey.

I am looking for a better way to manage the way my squadron schedules training flights and missions. Right now we have a forum where we make a post for every event (we usually fly twice a week). The post is a plain language ATO with callsigns, inner flight freq, area closures etc. Players respond to each post, indicating what aircraft type they want to fly (we fly F18, A10 and Huey) and, for training nights, what they want to practice. e.g. Players X is available, Id like to fly the Hornet and do my IQT Eval. Admins have to constantly edit the initial posts adding players names in the ATO, try to pair people with instructors, deconflict airspaces/ranges etc. It works, but it is very much a manual process and it takes alot of effort to stay on top of it. I was wondering what other squadrons are using to build their weekly flying schedules ? Any programs/apps that could help ?

was this ever fixed ? -
you can also crack open an old floppy disk and use part of the disk inside.

i would like to know as well

+1. I think the huey used to be a big selling point for DCS. IMO the absolute best helicopter flight model on PC in any sim. But it has been neglected sooo much in the past few years and I think it is a real shame.

[NO BUG] Far too easy to over G the plane with no feedback.
Jeepyb replied to Tomsk's topic in Bugs and Problems
+1 Your problem is right there xD Fighters only go super as a last ditch effort to catch up on an intercept they would otherwise miss or to get out of a bad situation ( BUG and leave the fight asap). Both of these things are accomplished in a straight line. If you are going to turn at supersonic speeds, use pressure on the stick, not deflection. Otherwise you should stay at mach .75 ish to marshal around and .95 if you want to go fast. In a turning fight bring it down to 350kts. -

+ 1 for jetseat. It is a great piece of kit. +1 on sandman’s comment on real life vs sim I also have to add that, even before the simshaker update that made it work with the tomcat, I always felt like the F14 is in fact one of the modules that give you the most feedback under load in DCS. I find all that buffet and shaking noise to make this thing far easier to deal with than the mig21 or F5 modules. Just be aware of your speed and adjust your inputs accordingly and you shouldnt be anywhere near the point of snapping the wings off. With a 350 kts cornering speed you have pretty much the whole stick deflection available to you in bfm and i find that bleeding off energy is more of a risk than overstressing the airframe. -

I can't see track history anymore (what you call ghosts in the program). What could it be ?
