  2. Sometime I find that after turning on turn to target, I'll need to line up and hold the target manually and then retrim. After that it works much better.
  3. You could try using the mouse with your left hand until you get your trackIR. Of course that might be easier for me to say since I'm ambidextrous.
  4. I bet there are more people flying then ever. But the percentages are lower then they used to be because so many more people are playing games now. At first there was a larger percentage of tecky type people using PC's and playing games on them. They wanted detailed sims and such. But now that so many more people are playing games, not all of them have the time or dedication towards sims and just want to be able to jump in and out of games when they have spare time. With the industry more geared towards making the quickest and biggests bucks, it caters now more towards those casual gamers and thier consoles and not the simmers on thier PC's. So that hasn't helped either.
  5. Get used to it. It felt weird for me to switch from a right side shifter on my old Triumph to the left on my newer one. But I had no choice. Now after a few shifts, I can switch from one bike to another without issues. I flew sims for years until I finally went for my licence. Developing a habit like that could have been disasterous. If you really feel you need to have your pedals inverted, maybe a tank sim is more in order? They actually do work that way in a tank. :-)
  6. You can assign a modifier to another button or key. So if you press the modifier, then the button can have another funtion. It might not make sense just to use on one button, but the same modifier can be used with just about every button or key. So it's giving everything you assign to use the modifier two funtions.
  7. I wish they wouldn't always seem to hit me right between the eyes. How about some screaming time in the pit as I fall to the ground?
  8. I thought about using a 3 yr old 50 inch plasma my brother gave me. This one has a VGA plug on it in addition to two HDMI plugs. But isn't it bad to use a plasma for a monitor because of the risk of image burn in? I still have to get this one fixed. which might cost up to $600. But for a $2500 TV, it seems worth it.
  9. Yes, I'll be getting it. I'm curious what it will include though and will it be spriral bound, paper back and will there be any goodies like charts etc.
  10. Yes you can have the Skhval ack as a gunsight in boresight mode. Go to 6:00 on this video. download Producer's Note #6 - Weapons Part 1 or
  11. At least in my case on my old rig the mission design itself can have a major impact more then anything else sometimes. For example flying the "Battle" mission vs a free flight mission with nothing but yourself in the mission.
  12. Turning effects to 2 removes the dust clouds. I haven't tried changing it to 0.
  13. Yes I've noticed this as well. Sometimes it just seems out of sync. Sometimes I see the lights blinking on the datalink before I even hear my wingman anounce them. If you hear him advise about a target, and the lights don't blink, I'm pretty sure I clicked the send/mem button and received the target.
  14. Yea this is pretty much the case with all engines. I believe there is a cool down period that you should leave the engines running at idle before you shut them down. They will still probably get warmer after shutdown, but not as much as if you shut them down right after landing.
  15. The most used funtion with the uncage/ cage Shkval button (O) is it will move your Skvhal to the position of your Helmet mounted sight. If you hold it down, it will follow your HMS. Once you have your Shkval centered over the target, you then lock it with (enter).
  16. I went to do some single player this morning and found out I have some major issues going on with my keyboard, and my key profiles in Blackshark. What I noticed first was I couldn't take screenshots anymore in the game. Specificly, I used to take a screenshot with the print screen button of the mission objective map when loading a mission in single player. Then I would paste it on a MS paint image on my second monitor so I would have some reference to the mission objectives during the game. Well I noticed this morning, when I went to paste the sceenshot, there was no option to paste. What I eventually found out is that after loading BS, my print screen, scroll lock and pause buttons not longer funtion. Even after exiting the game. I have to reboot to get them to work again. So since pause quits working, I can't even unpause the game to play at all. To make matters worse, I went into the options menu to see if those keys were recognized, and I noticed my saved profiles have changed and most of if not all of my modifications are gone. I don't even have the trackIR colum anymore. This is the case even with a backup profile I have which is screwed up as well. ---edit--- I realized this issues may have been caused by having a TrackIR profile loaded as exclusive load for ArmA. When I changed to back to blackshark, everything seems to be working normally in the game.
  17. They use a computer-brain interface? :smartass:
  18. Your hat should be set up for head movement by default. You can also use the mouse to look around. But the mouse also is used to click cockpit contols. You switch between the two methods with Left Alt + C.
  19. You can also control it's direction , - RCtrl Spot light left / - RCtrl Spot light right ; - RCtrl Spot light up . - RCtrl Spot light down
  20. Ok, I understand that now. But is there any limiter to be established that won't permit the engine's rpm's to drop too low? Or it's just that I've to be more careful with the collective when maneuvering? You have auto throttle (the center detent), but once the maximum throttle is reached, that's it.
  21. I believe what they are saying is that your overloading the engine by possibly giving too much collective. This sudden load lowers the RPM's and causes the generators to not put out enough juice for your systems to work. It also causes your inverter light to come on.
  22. The problem for me comes with lots of targets on the map at the same time and getting to close to explosions etc. Just flying around and shooting limited targets you might be ok. The biggest thing is going to be the way the mission is designed. I get around 15-25 fps most times but some really busy missions it can get down to 5-7 sometimes. That's on a P4 3.2 with 2 gigs of ram and a ATI 1650.
  23. At forward speed your not going to have much effectiveness trying to turn with just the rudder. You still want to complement the turn with it, but not rely on the rudder alone. A good bank for a turn would be dictated on how tight you want to turn.
  24. Until you study up and understand how the flight systems work and just want to get up in the air and feel you have control, set the three blue buttons on like you see in the pic below but also turn on the FD AP button on as well to the right of those. pic courtesy of USSR Rik
  25. You just have to click on refresh to populate the info. Update list only updates the list of IP's.
