All for third party map development. Let's be real - creating aircraft is what the boys at DCS really do best. Let someone else handle a bunch of new scenery and allow DCS to put all their attention on pumping out new aircraft. In fact - I am surprised a few 3rd party companies haven't stepped up and done this.

How do you choose which plane to buy and which you don't?
Flanker52 replied to PLAAF's topic in DCS Wishlist
I buy all unless non aviation like Combined Arms... I think any aircraft done at high-fidelity is fun and challenging in their own way. -
Man...Belsimtek has been so quiet as of late. So curious what they have up their sleeves.

No brainer for me - gotta go with the F-4.

I'm a bit confused on the Uh-1 throttle. The way I am flying is I have the throttle fully maxed the whole time. Is this realistic and correct? Is the governor basically adjusting the throttle for us? I thought in real life Huey pilots needed to adjust the throttle manually depending on the power requirement. If anyone has knowledge of this - that would be great. Thanks!

Just flew it for the first time - lots of fun. Amazing job guys! Can't wait to buy your future modules.

Thanks - this helped a ton.

I'm not one to complain about updates but I can see why people are annoyed. Not one update in a year's time is just bad business.

I was under the impression that a Tail Rotor failure is not a certain crash - it can be dealt with in the same way as engine failure, through autorotation. But I think you do need a good amount of altitude. I'm certain that real helicopter pilots practice tail rotor failure pretty often. At least according to the Vietnam huey books I have read. Incidentally, I figured out how to practice this but by accident. I was practicing autorotations and a few times my flare was too high and my tail rotor smacked the ground quite hard. I tried to take off again and noticed my tail rotor was damaged as I was spinning all over the place. So I pulled max collective and managed to get back up to 1000 ft or so. Then I did I treated it like an autorotation and I actually managed to land it. So It seems it can be practiced but it's a pain.

Is there a way to simulate Tail Rotor failure?

I'm addicted to the Belsimtek Huey. It's so damn fun and challenging to fly. I think the coolest addition they could make right now would be along the lines of Medevac and troop transport. I want to see the troops running to and away from the chopper. Hanging off the edge of the helicopter Vietnam style. This would also add further challenges to flying since the added weight of the troops would greatly affect the flight model. I'd also love to see a "Mcguire Rig"type device where you can repel troops down into tight spaces. Would be pretty cool and challenging trying to hold a high hover. Also- I could be wrong but I don't think there is a Tail Rotor failure option in the game. I'd love to be able to simulate these similarly to autorotation. Lastly - an automatic grenade launcher. Was used quite often in Vietnam.

F-111 seems the most realistic option for a bomber out of this list. Or perhaps a Su-24.

Thanks - I'll check it out.

Would be pretty cool to have guys on the carrier directing traffic and takeoffs.

I was wondering if there is a good map available that can be used for visual flying rules at low level in my beloved Huey. I noticed the maps available through the kneeboard are not that great. I don't want to constantly have to hit F10 - plus it's cheating since it shows your position real-time. If anyone has a suggestion or can point me to a map that is ideal for this - that would be great! Thanks!

Next DCS (Russian) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
Flanker52 replied to Milene's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Seriously dude? That plane is experimental. How much data do you think is unclassified? Not to mention it is completely unproven in any war. Why not stick to all the other cool aircraft that have lots of available data so we can get the high-fidelity stuff we're accustomed to. -
So want this helicopter. It's agile as hell and relatively simple - especially the Vietnam versions like the OH-6. It would be a blast to fly. Especially as as spotter for Hueys and Cobra gunships.

B-52 seems kinda out of place considering the relatively small maps available. Usually these puppies take off from Guam if I'm not mistaken. I doubt they would be using B-52s to take off and land in the crimea. But it would be fun to fly - no doubt. -

Man that external F-14 model looks fantastic. -
Thanks. Bought.

Just curious - is there a benefit to pre-ordering this as opposed to waiting til the 18th?

I'd take the Hind in a heartbeat. Info isn't classified and it's a pretty damn unique helicopter. It can go full on attack or it can be used as troop transport. Plus it's fast as hell and looks like a beast. We already have a modern helicopter in the Ka-50. We don't have an older Russian attack helicopter. Havoc would be cool too but Mi-24 is a classic that needs to be created.

1. Mi-24 Hind (A Must!) 2. Oh-6/MD 500 "Little Bird" 3. Ch-47 Chinook 4. UH-60 Blackhawk

Agree completely. It's really a terrain that no companies have seemed to take advantage of making. Carrier ops would also work very well in a Vietnam Map. Granted with older aircraft like the F-4 and A-4. The challenges in a Vietnam map would be endless really.

I think the jungles of Vietnam would offer something different and very unique. We already have desert terrain with upcoming mods. Vietnam for me is the perfect choice. Especially considering mig-21 is coming along with Ah-1, A-4 and the huey we already have. I'd pay serious money for a Nam map.
