  1. They make money either way. They've even said that a third party is free to do so.
  2. It's really going to depend where you hangar, how much work is done on it, how much work is needed, etc. Lots of variables. As for eye popping, absolutely. Yak-52s are insanely capable as an aircraft that has served as an introduction to aerobatics. And yeah, they stall around 49 knots dirty (90kmh). It gives you plenty of warning with a tail buffet and then a drop of the left wing.
  3. This different angle? Also, that TikTok was just that; a TikTok. ED's MiG-29 is on indefinite hold for the time being. At most, it might've been to hint towards third parties.
  4. I've seen prices of CJ-6s fluctuate wildly from $30k up to $400k. It all depends on the fit, finish, and modifications made to the aircraft. Its operational costs are comparable to a lot of popular GA aircraft. And, for those wondering what's the difference between the CJ-6A and the Yak-52? CJ-15 has a smaller engine derived from the same family. According to my copy of homemade flight reference card, the CJ-6A enjoys a lower fuel burn of ~12gph (45l) @ 150mph (250kmh) with the Yak-52 being a little slower and less efficient with ~150gph (60l) @ 140mph (190kmh). The CJ-6A is smoother flier than the Yak-52, but the Yak-52 can make your eyes pop out of your noggin with what it can do in terms of aerobatics. Of the other pilots I've met, the Yak-52 can be some what polarizing. A lot love it, others don't care for it. I don't think I've met someone who has flown the CJ-6 and not loved it.
  5. It's not like the LanceR would be flying against the F-16. At least, realistically. Open pub? I don't really care.
  6. Oh, I've found myself in-between both sides on the Yak-52 vs. CJ-6A argument. The clear answer? Putting the Yak-52's Vedeneyev M-14p on a CJ-6.
  7. Depends on how much of the tech in those are still in service in one way or another. There could be derivations and they want that on lock-down. That said, I'd love me a CJ-6A. I might be biased having flown one. They are lovely aircraft.
  8. Honestly, I think it's beyond just getting the docs. They understand the lingua franca and especially cultural nuances. I wouldn't want to just typecast them as the developers of Chinese aircraft, but they definitely find themselves poised much better to do so.
  9. Mostly correct, just kind of rough. The only one really off the mark is 5th gen since that also includes AESA radar use in our definition. Fighter generations are even debated in the west. There's a lot of leeway and even designations like 4.5 which would be a 4th gen with something like an AESA radar. Much like biology and evolution, the things we try to classify don't seem to care much about our definitions. 100%. I also have to agree that it would be utterly fallacious to call the J-8PP an American experience. A similar situation would be if got the MiG-21MF-75 LanceR as flown by the Romanian Air Force and others decried it as an Israeli experience because of its Elbit systems additions.
  10. Well, for the sake of argument, I'd honestly say that's not a fair comparison. Now, just to be clear, I'm stoked for the PP. It's clear as day as to why the variant was chosen and anyone who takes umbrage with it needs to understand that their toys do not come before the interests of national defenses, regardless of how one feels about it. But, sourcing an AM-38 to power an airworthy Sturmovik is a lot different to getting details on in service J-8s.
  11. As if the current one isn't already? Bring me pain.
  12. It has limitations when compared to the Viper or the Hornet. But, I'd argue those limitations make it a very interesting aircraft to fly. It fills this wonderful space between F-5E size and payload and F-16 sophistication. So, I'm a fan. Especially in the realm of ground attack/COIN, the JF shines like a diamond. Take up those guided rockets and you can really provide stupidly effective CAS. I just treat them like the VIKHRs on the Black Shark, firing in pairs.
  13. I've got a query for you @PLAAF Some of those J-8A photos looked fairly recent, judging by the quality of the images and the aircraft look maintained. When were they pulled from service or were these aircraft in reserve service or heritage flight? Stateside, the F-4 soldiered on in various auxiliary roles for quite some time, with their final military flight being in December of 2016.
  14. That's the kind of interesting What-If I'm onboard for.
  15. Hence the caution I offered about talking out my rear, good to know!
  16. Might be talking out my exhaust here, but that might be up to ED to integrate into DCS as a platform. GCI isn't at all modeled in DCS, at least in a manner that a system like Lazur would utilize.
  17. I'd imagine they would be. It's just a matter of getting the right people to play ball, which is why we're getting the Peace Pearl bird instead of one with domestic kit. We'll just have to wait.
  18. The J-8 is really growing on me. I can't wait to conduct intercepts.
  19. If the other trainers are anything to go by, we'd get both T-6 and AT-6B. Which would be pretty hot.
  20. My point is don't get excited over something that's not realistic to expect a Fulcrum from ED at this point. We all know why. Honestly, that would be my expectation. At this point, a non-Russian MiG-29 is the most likely. That would be cool to get a Luftwaffe MiG-29G. It really begs the question of "How far along was the 9.12?"
  21. Only, it represents two prototypes of the J-8II, ones where examples exist, and Deka has documentation. Much like how Black Shark II was created, it's being modeled with accuracy for that particular variant, production figures and deployments not withstanding. This is has been discussed at length. There's difference between a J-8II using an old Viper radar and this, being the presence and accessibility of documentation.
  22. And that has to do what with it? Deka has the data. Sin of the double post because I dun goofed on formatting. But, are they? I'm not familiar with the VRS Hornet, nor the MSFS scene in general. How accurate to the real deal is it? That's my question.
  23. The interest has been well established and for quite some time. It'd be a pre-order, day one, for me. But, it's not something to get too excited over until the world situation changes or until something changes at ED. EDIT: Forgot third party, third party is the better avenue here.
  24. And? Unless there's an announcement that their situation has changed, it's nothing.
  25. It's a TikTok, don't get your hopes up.
