within expected cep [CORRECT AS-IS] CCIP Bugged?
Joni replied to Stearmandriver's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
What are you seeing exactly? I don't have problems with carrier warm or cold as long as there is GPS available and you are using Aided INS. -
I meant you in the air. You cannot be on the ground for this tests to be applicable. Remember I see no issues apart from the E-3 being a little erratic. Thanks.
-
Hi there. I think you missunderstood the issue, or maybe Kitty did, doesn't matter. The thing here is, that moving the aircraft before even starting to align and pointing the nose to a different heading than the stored one makes absolutely no difference at all at the momento of starting to align with STD HDG boxed. IRL it will make the orientation much harder and take way more than 90 seconds because of the wrong heading the nose is actually pointing at. In fact, IRL as you would be forcing a wrong stored heading it might not ever know the new and true north in relation to the aircraft. Remember INS doesn't know where it is, it just knows how it is positioned in the earth and what the true north is.

@BIGNEWY @NineLine What should I do? Do I put this on the bug section or is it a reason to get a warning? Thanks.
-
I meant a warning for double post.
-
Yeah sorry, I'm from Argentina and my english is not the best. How can I throw this out in the bug forum? Won't that be subject to a warning from moderators? It doesn't let me attach the track too.
-
But I see different. I wonder what might be going on in order for us to see different behaviours. Is your awacs high enough? Are there mountains around? I'm going to see your track now. Oh, you are trying from the ground! Please make the tests in the air and report back your findings. Thanks.

Are you taking off from a moving carrier? Can you post a track of what you see? I also would like to understand these aspects. -
Hi, any chance someone might jump in here?
-
Thanks. On FC3 aircrafts, neutral are showing as enemies. No NCTR or awacs. Maybe it helps.

If gps is available IFA will solve the issue. If gps is not available then you will need to perform updates regularly or just change the position from INS to TCN so you have a constant source of update (each 90 seconds). -
Are you using any kind of mod? I ask this because I see you refer to two different E-3, when I only have one in DCS. I see that the E-3 is able to send data from more than 300nm away but it does it with erratic results whilst the E-2 is very consistent.

I'm ok with all of this, otherwise it would not work nicely, I think ED made the right call on that aspect. NCTR with STT shows the correct type of print picked up in SA page, with no STT it just contributes to the ROE picture but doesn't show print. This needs to be corrected. On top of these, I think the first thing to address is the fact that NCTR makes a neutral coalition hostile. Then they can work on the broken part of NCTR itself (angle, L&S thing, etc.) This is my opinion though, I just hope this thread was useful at least. Thanks for the other thread link, I didn't find it before. Thanks.
-
I don't know if it helps, but I saw that turning NCTR off solves the issue, which is strange since the tests I conducted were cold aspect (in track attached as well). What also draw my attention was the fact that the NCTR print isn't working, it does't show the type in SA page. So NCTR is actually contributing to the IFF (during cold aspects too) but it isn't showing what type of print it gets. It would also be good if NCTR didn't recognize a passenger aircraft as hostile. Thanks. neutral iff bug2 nctr.trk

Hi Kitty! Like I said above yesterday, I found out that stored heading always works no matter what you do.
-
The bug happens when the neutral contact is set as L&S. If a different one is set as L&S then it goes back to double ambiguous brackets. Track attached. neutral iff bug2.trk Please don't hate me for the spam, I just discovered that the bug exists for anything that is set as L&S and doesn't reply to mode4. No matter if is neutral or enemy, it will always show enemy red chevron HAFU if set as L&S.
-
When interrogating a neutral coalition contact with an AWACS present it shows ambiguous both in top and bottom HAFU (correct). After a while it turns into a hostile top HAFU and bottom ambiguous HAFU (incorrect) when it should remain double ambiguous. Track attached. neutral iff bug.trk

I see std hdg even after moving, and it even works which I dont think is what should happen.

Have you hear back from ED on this Harker? I played you track and I was wondering how does the IFA RDR work? I tried it with the radar turned off and it still worked so don't know if it's a bug or I just don't understand how it is. Thanks.
-
Hi guys, is this still a bug as of today after 4 months? I was going to assume that it was fixed due to how long it's been but then I started having very strange results from the hornet's INS and was looking for more info in the forums. Does this mean IFA isn't working? If so, when is it not working? Right after alignment and going into IFA? Or is it just broken when you got degraded INS during a flight and need to do an IFA? Thanks.
-
I tried to change the heading of the aircraft before starting the alignment process with stored heading boxed and immediately after seeing the incorrect heading (the one stored) it was corrected to the new and actual one. I think that if these steps were to be followed IRL then the alignment would throw an incorrect position or orientation. Track attached. I am not sure if this is a bug or not, maybe others can help me see through this. Thanks. posible bug ins std hdg.trk

Hello. What are those two methods? For carrier I don't see other positions in the INS knob but the CV one. Am I missing something here? Thanks! Hello. What are the scenarios where someone would not choose stored heading option? I'm trying to understand how it is used in DCS versus IRL. IRL it is saved before shutdown, but how is this used in DCS? I'm guessing the option is there but has no way of not working, right? It just works every time no matter what? Thanks.

reported CCIP Bomb Fall Line horizontal - after full alignment

Oh, so there is no way for us to do a normal mission if taking off from carrier in the current version? I just made a mission with a friend and after OK status the heading of the aircraft in the HSI was correct but the AC symbol pointed to the left instead of up (setting was track up). Is that normal? Thanks.
