Dynamic campaigns! Not just dynamic but with added variety and just plain more of them. There are still bugs in some of the missions included with the modules. I'd like to see in-depth and and highly polished campaigns with really high production value as flight sim'ing for me is still a single player affair. A better ATC system was a very close second. Looking forward to checking out Hollywood's VIACOM 2.0! But I'd love to see some much more sophisticated and flexible radio implementation within DCS itself. VR (both Rift and Vive) wasn't on the list but I'm assuming that's a no brainer ;-)

Wonderful!!! Cargo is a big part of what makes helicopters fun. I would love to see graphical representations of internal cargo too for both the Hip and the Huey. For example it would be great to look in the back and see how many passengers you've picked up! Thanks for giving this bird the attention it deserves. I think prolonged 'betas' are a little too prevalent in DCS and it only goes to further Belsimtek's already excellent reputation that they are taking the time to complete and polish their existing modules! Thanks for the report DE! Nice to hear a DCS-centric opinion that confirms what many others have reported around the interwebs. This reinforces my decision to definitely grab the Vive and only more optionally consider the Rift. Here's hoping DCS will have support for both ready by their respective launches. [emoji2]

Thanks to all for the info (and links to it). I guess we'll just have to be patient but I do hope we get a bit more concrete news before we early adopters need to make a decision and plunk down some cash for a HMD. I'd be surprised if they weren't able (or don't want) to support both the Vive and Rift. Likely it's more a matter of "when" than "if". Regardless, I hope that each platform will get developer attention based on their merits rather than exclusivity/favoritism tied to monetary incentives. A terrible practice which is already far to prevalent IMHO. Bring on the VR!

I hope DCS will support it! All indications I've read so far seem to suggest the Vive is a better overall experience than the Rift. I am definitely going to pick up a Vive and am only only optionally planning on the Rift. Reports of better motion tracking, reduced eye strain and negligible motion sickness are convincing! I'd really love an official word from ED about support plans. We are all going to need to make VR purchase decisions before too long and of course DCS is at the top of my most desired VR games! ED, can we please get some Vive support intentions... please? Thanks!

Me three. I'm firing it up for the first time though. Hasn't worked previously in my case.

Yeah, I just noticed the same thing. I also tried to squeak in under the deadline to get the 2 free campaigns and didn't realize the time zone difference. Ah well. 1 free is better than nothing. -
Snap Views don't seem work properly in the MiG-15. You can save them the usual way (http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/Snap_views) but they aren't persistent and don't work properly. The MiG-15 (so far) is the only module where I am having this issue - others (A-10C, Ka-50 & UH-1H) all work fine. For those of us who don't have (or plan to use) TrackIR, Snap Views are very important! I have some custom views that I set up across all aircraft that makes normal viewing much more effective but I can't get them working with the MiG-15. I know that many modules are getting a bit of spit and polish with the upcoming 1.5/2.0 release and wanted to put a reminder in about this issue in hopes that it'll bubble up in the todo list. Thanks!

Wonderful news! Tnx for the info. Hope to see this soon.

Aha! Now that's what I'm talking about. Yes, it will take a lot of mucking around but this is the kind of thing that (at this point anyway) I think will have the best shot of getting me what I'm looking for. Yes, I realize that 1.5/2.0 may improve/solve some of these UI inflexibilities. But ED are likely concentrating on frying the big fish at the moment preparing for launch. As a result, I'm guessing these little bits of polish (while very important!) will likely have to simmer on the back-burner a while longer. So, I'll start poking around and see what I can come up with. If anybody has more detailed information about this or any other LUA files that might save me some time - I'm all ears. For example which files are loaded once, which ones are per mission, specific variable functions, etc. Thanks Vicx! P.S. The Cyrillic comments are a nice touch! No point making it too easy! ;-)

I do actually. Voice Attack is fantastic and I've made some fairly involved profiles. However, I prefer the tactile nature of the HOTAS for many things. I generally use Voice Attack for comms (Wingmen/ATC/JTAC/etc.) or lengthy macros a copilot/crew members might conceivably help me with (e.g. "Go weapons hot", "Panel lights to medium") and (very) occasionally a few obscure features that don't warrant a dedicated button. But, things like "Scroll map left" or "Zoom out 5" feel slow, cumbersome and unnatural. A quick button press to glance at the map and get a grid reference to pass on over Teamspeak is what I'm hoping for. That said, I appreciate the suggestion and Voice Attack is the best alternative I'm using at the moment. Tnx.

I use custom snap views all the time (as I don't have TrackIR) and believe they are only for in-cockpit views (they are listed as such in the hotkey menu). At any rate, I was unable to get them to work for this purpose. Still open to anyone who might have a clever fix for me, thanks!

Unfortunately that didn't work Blooze but thanks for the suggestion. If you change the map position/zoom and then toggle the view with just F10 (NOT CTRL-F10 over your plane) it will go back to the last position/zoom you were viewing. However, you must still set that initial position/zoom with the mouse. While CTRL-F10 nicely centers the map over your current position (what I want) it always resets the zoom value to a very tight/small view. Anyone else have another suggestion?

Does anybody have any LUA magic that will let me change the default zoom when activating Map View (CTRL-F10) within the game? My problem is that I want to have everything mapped to my HOTAS. However, when I view the Map, it is zoomed in so close that it is effectively useless. As the zoom in/out keys don't work with the map, I have to grab my mouse and use the scroll wheel to zoom out, etc. etc. What I'd like to be able to do is set the default zoom (perhaps by changing a LUA value somewhere???) so that when I view the map, I can actually see a reasonable area around me without having to zoom. Can anyone help me with this?

Does anyone know why you cannot bind the External Cargo Indicator to a joystick button? I find this indicator far more helpful than the camera as it doesn't mess up my visual cues of the horizon while I'm trying to maintain a stable hover. Has/Can anyone from Belsimtek comment on this?

+1 Great suggestion.

I understand how to put the FM radio to HOMING mode, set the correct frequency and then use the course deviation indicator to point towards (or away from!) a FM homing signal. However, as the course deviation indicator only shows whether the signal is on the left or right side of the helicopter, it only helps get you on a line between you and the source signal. However, it doesn't indicate which direction on that line you need to fly to get there! In other words, you could be flying directly away from the source and the indicator would still be lined up in the center just as if you were flying directly towards it! In the tests I've done (fly towards the signal then do a 180 and fly away from it) the indicator readings are identical. My question is this: Is there a way differentiate whether you're flying towards or away from an FM homing signal using instrumentation? I hope I missing something really simple here because otherwise it's pretty ambiguous and could leave you flying in the wrong direction half the time. EDIT: Nevermind. I had a brain fart. Of course the needle will read the same if you're going *exactly* away from (rather than towards) the source. But, if you move off track even a bit to check, the needle will swing in the opposite direction if you're flying away from the source. Sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees...

Just wanted to add my voice to the crowd and say thanks for making (and sharing!) such a great mission. I came here because I couldn't drop my passengers off and now understand why. I hope you're able to continue updating this mission as it is loads (pun intended ;-) of fun! Cheers!

I'd like to be able to *easily* control the radio communications menu from my HOTAS. The problem right now is that to select entries, you need to press a Function (F1-F12) key which is very cumbersome and requires a total of 13 different keys (\ and F1-12) to operate the radio! If the menu were given a selection bar highlighting the currently selected item, you could get the same functionality out of only 3 keys!. The activate radio menu key (\) could also double as the "select active menu item" when the menu is active. Thus only requiring 2 additional keys for "select next menu item" and "select previous menu item". This IMHO would be FAR easier to use than hunting for Function keys (which will only get harder when the Oculus Rift comes out). In addition, another nice touch would be if the EXIT MENU item (usually mapped to F12 at the bottom of the menu) was moved so it's always at the top of the list, then accidentally pressing the radio menu button (\) twice would just show then hide the menu. You'd need to intentionally scroll up/down to find your desired response first and then the (\) key would transmit that when pressed. Please consider this addition for a future release. Thanks!

FWIW, my $0.02 is that if there is only going to be 1 Cobra, then let it be the W. If there will be more than one, then I'd say start with the S (TOW missiles differentiate it from the UH-1H) and hopefully do the Viper later on. But, as there are tons of other great helis vying for attention and with the potential classified issues of the Viper, 2 Snakes seem unlikely so stick with the Whiskey. I'm really looking forward to this one too!

I'd really like to be able to completely control the Map View (F10) using only hotkeys. At the moment, once in this view, you must use the mouse to scroll around and toggle options. I would like to be able to control this entirely through my HOTAS setup. So, this would include not only include hotkey commands to SCROLL and ZOOM the map but also to cycle between MAP/ALT/SAT views, and toggle ROUTES/TARGET/UNITS, center on CURRENT LOCATION and so on. Apart from the convenience, with VR HMDs like the Oculus Rift coming, being able to control all aspects of DCS from the HOTAS will become even more important as we will be unable to see the keyboard and left blindly groping for the mouse to use features that we can't map to our HOTAS. Thanks for the consideration. Update: For Scroll/Zoom operations, new hotkeys would not need to be added. Just have the map respond and scroll/zoom using existing suite of look (up/down/left/right) and zoom keys.

I'm just starting with DCS and the Huey and this mission sounds great. However, the download link (Dropbox) doesn't seem to work any more. Is there an alternative link where I can get it or is it possible that the author re-post it? I'd really like to give it a whirl (pun intended ;-) Thanks!
