  1. Crossfire is still causing bad stutters for me in hotfix 1.5.1. :( I've tried different profiles and rendering modes.
  2. Well, the full screen mode worked but it was for nought. Putting it in full screen kicked in my crossfire, but no matter what settings I changed it wouldn't stop stuttering and flickering. I tried setting profiles for DCS with alternate Crossfire rendering modes, but none of them worked. Turning model visibility off didn't change anything either. I guess I'll just run one card on lower settings until this is fixed. Thanks for the help everyone. Even though I couldn't get it working correctly, I did learn a thing or two along the way.
  3. Very nice! I'm going to try to hold out for a while before I upgrade, to save money, but I don't know how long I'll make it. :D Yes, that's what I was planning on trying today. Hopefully it's the magic bullet.
  4. Ok, thanks for the input, hansangb. When I referenced that thread above I only read the first page or so, but upon further reading the solution to my problems might actually be in there. I'll try it tomorrow, hopefully that's it.
  5. So I disabled Crossfire and tried it again. FPS performance was neither better nor worse than with Crossfire. Obviously there are some problems on that front illustrated here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=149180&highlight=SLI GPU usage at 99%. VRAM and Temp were fine. The Pagefile usage went down ever so slightly without Crossfire, but is still hovering constantly around 8G's which seems really high to me. My RAM had only 5-6G's being used. Another weird thing is that Afterburner is only recognizing my system as having RAM=8G's I think. Also Pagefile didn't change at all when I tried manual editing it before, Afterburner was reading its max available space as 8G's as well. Lots of strange-ness.
  6. I'm going to have to play around with it tomorrow. There is definitely something not working correctly, some of my performance numbers don't make any sense. :( Thanks for all the help so far.
  7. Ok, both my BIOS and Windows recognize my 16G's. I'll mess around with it and see if there's a difference. Just another question, there is Initial Pagefile Size and Max Pagefile size. I don't really understand what I should set to what. EDIT: Yes it seems strange my second GPU is reading so low...
  8. It looks like my PC has set my pagefile allowance very low, like 5gigs, I don't know why. I'm going to manually increase it and see if that helps but I just have a couple of questions. Should I put my Pagefile usage on my SSD, HDD, or split it? and What should I set for the minimum? It looks like the max should be 1.5 times my RAM amount from the tech forums.
  9. MSI Afterburner displays it.
  10. I'll check it out now. What does it mean that my Pagefile usage is really maxed out? EDIT: Yeah 16G of RAM
  11. Ok a couple of things. I ran the same scenario checking MSI Afterburner. My Pagefile was maxed out the whole time! Memory usage was high, but not so much to be problematic. Also in MSI Afterburner you select the GPU you want to monitor in settings right? But then it also shows you the GPU2 usage at the same time? Cause I was seeing my GPU1 readings at 99, but my GPU2 readings stay between 0 and 30%. So what's going on here?
  12. Could be that. I haven't monitored it, I'll check it out. I forgot to put in my the specs that I'm running one 1920x1080 res screen. Also, I never had problems with AA pre-1.5 and I could run AA at the highest setting fine, if that makes a difference.
  13. I started on '16x'. Right now I have it set on '4x'. The lower I set it the better it gets. I can live with 4x for now. Hopefully it is something that improves as the beta is worked on. An interesting note, my frames didn't really get much worse when I bumped it up to 16xQ.
  14. Ok, so I did a bit of testing and came to some conclusion. I took a graphics heavy scene that was dropping my FPS and went through changing each setting to see the FPS difference during that scene. The scene was pretty much just me flying at and above some forest covered mountains, not much else. Conclusion: the only two settings that had any significant impact when changed were: the MSAA and the Tree Rendering Distance. Now most of the FPS drop happened when I was flying at a close forest-y mountain, so I don't think the Tree Rendering Distance is the main culprit but it has something to do with the trees themselves. In my scene, there were hardly any other objects besides my cockpit that would be using the anti-aliasing, so I think the trees are using the MSAA and hogging a lot of my resources. What do others think?
  15. Sabre-TLA, that's why I pointed up. He posted while I was still typing, and typing about him no less! He's made not just missions, but training campaigns for many of the modules. You can find them in DCS's User Files section on the main website.
  16. Kind of a weird thing to say even back then.
  17. Yeah I heard that a lot "I'll start playing again when EDGE is here". So that's good that they're back. Good to hear! Yeah I'm very excited about some of the modules that are pretty near release, mainly the Mirage and Gazelle.
  18. I'll try it out today. I already have depth of field off, that's a big FPS killer for my system.
  19. That's interesting about the Facebook group Darkwolf. I'm of the mind that the bump is from the 1.5 release, but there is always a steady stream in general. I didn't notice anything to this level with some of the last releases like the Mig-15 or Bf 109, but maybe I'm just being more observant now. I agree StandingCow, carrier ops should lead to another large bump in players. al531246, yeah I think the dialogue with the devs is really great with our community. It's a lot more personal here.
  20. Is it just me or does it seem like recently there are a lot of new faces/profiles on the forum and DCS as a whole? It's actually sort of exciting. I'm hoping the game keeps expanding like this and I think it will. The future is looking bright for DCS in more ways than one.
  21. Also after a quick look in the DCS User Files section, I found about 4 or 5 SU-27 single player campaigns. One of them being a training campaign. I'd suggest you give it a try. I know that the maker of them (he's made a training campaign for most modules) is very good at making missions. Edit: lol and there he is^^^ :D
  22. Don't get discouraged! It often seems like I do better in Multiplayer than I do in single player missions. A lot of times the AI is no joke. And for the record I'd put my skill level as: Very Average. :) Edit: (forgot to answer the actual question) I feel if you know the basics, then Multiplayer can be very very helpful. As long as you find some nice people to help you, which aren't hard to find if you look. I personally can't think of anything exactly linear, but wait for other people to answer since I'm sure there is some stuff out there.
  23. I think we need a fast, dedicated precision strike bomber since right now we have only CAS attack planes. I would take one from any faction, but it might as well be the SU-24 (with Multicrew of course!).
  24. Hmm, now I'm wondering if it's maybe caused by a lot of tree shadows being rendered in the distance. I'll have to mess around with my settings and see if it changes. Hopefully the problem just disappears with a hotfix for me :D. Thanks for your input Ranbi2Delta.
  25. This is still happening. I'm thinking it's either just that mission causing it or maybe that section of mountain range is being rendered strangely by the 1.5 Beta engine. I've had FPS drops of 60s to 10s just from looking toward those mountains during the mission. The current netcode may also be responsible or contributing, I'm not sure. Is anyone else experiencing this?
