  5. The only other thing I know to suggest is to play with each graphic setting one by one to see if anything changes. With these hot fixes I've noticed sometimes an individual setting, such as MSAA, will all of a sudden start causing problems for me. If this is the case for you, lowering it down a lot may provide you a temporary fix until the next patch. EDIT: Also check your systems performance with something like MSI Afterburner while you run DCS to see if your system is doing something strange.

  8. Your max distance sounds about right to me. If there is a second zoom, I never knew about it. The manual may be counting the initial state as a level of zoom since the camera starts out at greater than 1x magnification. I can't remember if the laser is needed for the TV guided munitions, but you should try using it when you launch from an extended distance without lock, since the laser gives range data to the airplane and possibly the TV guided munitions (I forget). So it may increase/correct the long range accuracy. If you give it a try, let me know if it works. :)
  9. Crossfire and SLI can cause this in 1.5, are you running that?
  10. Lol nice. It looks like the computer plots 'points' every X=time interval, every 0.25 sec for example, for where the bullets will go and connects them with a line to make the snake. So when the nose is moving slower, the points are closer together making a smoother curve. But when the nose is thrown around very fast, the points are plotted further away from each other letting you see the individual connecting line segments instead of a smooth curve. That's my guess at least.
  11. Did you really want to make you're first or second post a negative one? :glare: I think some people just get too fired up sometimes. It happens in every type of entertainment. But it's almost never the majority of opinions so I don't think there's much of a problem.
  12. I don't know how to edit the code, but I can give some basic tips. Did you try adjusting the target box of the Shkval? Also if that doesn't work you could just place the targeting box on the out-of-range target and override the Launch Authorization to launch without lock. I think if the weapon itself has the range capability it should still hit where you've pointed it even without actual lock (make sure you use the laser of course). EDIT: sorry, somehow I didn't see you already said you tried the launch override. :doh: Have you tried using the Low-Light Pod? The contrast may help with lock distance, and I assume you are using the zoom on the Shkval already.

(I wasn't sure where to put this, feel free to move) I tried flying the 'low flying' SU-27 mission recently in 1.5, I forget the actual name of the mission, and every time I started it I would hit the ground(it's actually a river) almost immediately. Now before you say it's user error, to me it seemed I spawned already falling down into the water at a fast speed from an altitude of only 50 meters or so. I tried a bunch of things including yanking the stick all the way back and full afterburner as fast as I could, but nothing worked. Can someone verify this behavior for me, so I know it's not just me?
  14. I think they're in the process of adding this. There is a 'Kick Player' box in the corner of the players pool in MP. Unless that's only for the server admin? But everyone can see it so I don't know, I haven't tested it yet.
  15. Yes it's very strange. Another thing, I had changed my settings to Small, but I think they hadn't taken effect and it was still set to Large. That being said I was able to see these blurry plane shapes on a MP match from about 80-100km away! Like I said, I think this was while I was still stuck on the Large setting. Obviously results like that have no place in the sim unless it somehow benefits Oculus Rift or something. It's my belief that it just needs some major tweaking. Of course I'm fine with certain settings if they serve a practical purpose to help some users.
  16. :D I also went to look for a video. Looks like they got it closer than I thought. But looks to me like it could be a little smoother to match RL, but doesn't need to be changed much.
  17. Just for more input: It sort of seems like a bug or mistake, I had my setting on 'Small' and I had restarted DCS to let it take effect. Then in MP I was seeing fighter planes as large blurry 'plane shapes' from in excess of 40km away! These shapes were about the size of a plane with old settings at maybe 5km. Hopefully this was user error on my part since it seems very strange. I'll have to check it again another time.

  19. Just looks like the refresh rate/resolution of the snake is a little low. I would guess that's not a big deal to improve.

  21. Yes it is confusing at first. :D PFM and AFM are ED specific levels essentially. SFM just means a simpler flight model with more scripted behavior. EFM means a flight model made by a 3rd party company. EFMs are made with the discretion of the 3rd party. They can be about equal to an AFM, or they can be better like a PFM, or somewhere in between. That's my understanding. EDIT: Sniped^^^

  24. I've experienced crashes sometimes when switching to the F10 map in MP. These happened when my FPS was fine, although I think both times the server was experiencing some lag. Multiplayer is kind of a mess right now. Servers seem to crash once an hour when having larger amounts of people. And if the server doesn't crash in that hour, chances are my DCS program will. I'm almost positive it's not my system, as my frames are almost always pretty good. These problems only happen in MP. Hopefully improvements are on the way.
