hi i just thought i would drop in here to give my 2 cents on the F-35 what i'm worried about is facing another situation like vietnam, when the U.S. had just unlocked the true potential in air to air missiles, but forced it on their planes too much. take the phantom for example, it had nothing but it's missiles to rely on, no gun, and needless to say that greatly hindered it's capabilities, especially during "dogfights". now here we are with the F-35 and the F-22, and we're so hell bent on integrating stealth technology into air warfare that we are throwing billions of dollars down the drain over a fighter that MIGHT see combat. as an air to air fighter? sure i wouldn't downplay it's capabilities. as a precision bomber? yeah i don't see why not. for close air support? the very idea is laughable, and not (completely) because of the planes capabilities, but because planes like the A-10 can take a punch, many punches. the F-35 with it's fragile air frame seems pretty easy to down, and there goes aaaall 100+ million dollars right into the ground, and possibly a good pilot as well. plus what would you rather have protecting you? a hulking tank of a jet with a massive armament and 30mm canon that would make anyone dive for cover at the very sound of it, or a very high tech paper airplane? i'm personally very interested in seeing where the F-35 is going to end up in the years to come, but mostly in the air to air role [edit] feel free to contradict me on this! i would really like to hear other's opinions on the F-35 directly compared to mine

so basically just practice until i can predict him? and yeah the A-4 is a true godsend, the more i learn about it's general usage in both air-to-air and air-to-ground the more impressed i get seeing how advanced it is compared to something like the K-4, which is still pretty cool in itself considering it being in a time period of fixed gunsights

man i would KILL for a dcs corsair, hellcat, or zero! at least we're already getting a P-40 :thumbup:

hi all! i was recently messing with the ai mig-15 and quickly realized that the biggest issue i had was having not nearly enough energy to keep up with the AI in many cases. my question here is if i should instead focus on trying to lure the mig into a turn fight rather than constantly chasing it up in the vertical and stalling out. or maybe im just bad and need experience :P or is the mig AI still a little wonky?

as everyone else said the smoke is way over the top, and the dirty canopy? well let's just say that in clear skies it's tolerable at BEST, but at sunset you would think the enemy sabotaged your canopy or something cause god damn you better pray the sun doesnt shine on it or else it's all over for your SA

i think that i would be putting it lightly in saying that the mig-29 is the most neglected of the fc3 aircraft, and im not expecting or praying for anything but does anyone think there's a chance for a mig-29 afm? i don't wanna turn this into another post begging ED for another module while they're still busy working very hard with the new maps and EDGE so much as i wanna make it an insightful topic :D

well i feel a little stupid but also happy cause it worked and i even got to test out how well it handles crash landings! (aka normal dora landings for me)

hey guys has anyone else had problems with missing textures for the aft of the plane?? not just this specific livery but other ones for the dora and yes i took out either the swastika/no swastika folders and neither of them work :(

I can't say I've had enough experience with the Mig to tell if this is a bug or not, but my instruments are all frozen, altimeter, artificial horizon, ect. Restarted DCS and everything and still nothin'. (I started the missions in both ready to taxi, on the runway, and airborne and in my experience those usually have all the systems ready to go)

were sparrows even really used much after the aim-120 came out? even more modern jets like the super hornet can employ the aim-7

this is something i've wondered quiet a bit. the aim-120s just seem better in general, but i would like to know if the aim-7s have something to them that the amraams don't. does flood mode have some advantages over something like amraams with boresight mode? :huh:

hellcat was definitely a key role player in the pacific and one of the most successful allied aircraft, which kinda has me confused as to why we're getting the bearcat instead (not complaining just doesn't make a whole lot of sense)

yeah that would be cool to see, WWII carrier ops! although the corsair (from what i know) had lots of problems with landing, something to do with the gear or hook and was used mainly on land
