  1. I'm a bit disappointed too and think ED should concentrate their manpower on finishing their products quicker. But hey, at least they are transparent and honest about what they're doing.
  2. You're right. My response was poorly worded. I meant ED are not only content creators, with DCS they are the platform. Kinda like if YouTube themselves went to get a Patreon page... that would make no sense. They don't need the services Patreon provides. They already have a way to interact with their community in a direct manner through this very forum and they already have a store for getting payments on a regular basis.
  3. If the Patreon is getting you a discount, then how will they be making any significant profit? :music_whistling: Patreon is for content creators, not for video game companies...
  4. To me, the subscription model would clearly not be the best option. Why? Because you will be paying ED money in the hope that you'll find significant improvements in return but actually, nothing will garanty that! What guaranties your money will be spent improving the core sim and won't be invested to make another early access module? I think, and as already stated by someone else here, making the core game payware and making us pay for newer versions would make a ton more sense. We would be paying for known improvements and for something tangible
  5. I think the biggest concern here is not so much adding new features to the sim, it's mostly doing a better job regarding bugs. Right now there are too many major bugs and unfinished work that impact the quality of the experience. For example, the home fuel deedle with the Hornet. It's been there for a few months now and it's extremely annoying, especially when doing carrier landings. There is also the example of the TACAN being buggy in all modules. Sometimes it works fine and sometimes the range indication freezes on its own and you have to turn the thing on/off to get it to work again. This bug has been there for years... I guess the point the OP wants to make is that ED should focus on providing a good experience with their sim instead of trying to push out more and more early access modules constantly.
  6. There's high chances it's not going to happen any time soon. Rewriting everything for Vulkan would be extremely time consuming and the return on investment would not be great for ED...
  7. This thread is kinda ridiculous :D
  8. Very nice.
  9. Hornet max trap weight is 34,000 lbs so I'm not sure it's necessary to test with such heavy loadouts...
  10. I've heard it happen a couple of times although I've also heard the opposite. :D
  11. I agree.
  12. That's a beauty. Nice job!

Yes but white balance affects the whole image right?

That's an interesting point although I can't still quite grasp what could make a contrail look black.

Now where are the "I've seen it all" folks at? If it's so obvious stuff then those questions should be answered pretty easily. I'd be happy to know...

Ok, that could be possibie. A few things are still bugging me though. Why is the contrail black and why does it have that odd shape to it? It looks like it's flattened at the tip and has the other end separated in two distant trails groing thinner and further away from each other. Also when you see a contrail, you also see an aircraft making it. Here you can't, even though the image is zoomed in on most of the video.

How come the contrail pivots on itself in a very odd way in the first seconds of the video? I've never seen a contrail do that. Not wanting to prove or disprove anything here, just trying to understand...
  18. So have I. NAS Oceana 2010, saw plenty of Hornets there. As I said, I can only talk about daytime. Maybe it's not accurate at night time in DCS right now. Please just keep in mind that videos you see online constitute a questionable proof on that matter.
  19. Do you understand the difference between a camera sensor and the human eye? :megalol:
  20. It's a camera. Not your eye.
  21. From what I saw it's pretty close to the real aircraft. In the day at least, at night I don't know. The way it's implemented in the A-10C right now is unrealistic. It's way too bright, especially in the day. The Hornet has a much more realistic strobe light.
  22. I edited my post. Sorry for having kept the spoiler train alive.
  23. Please do not take videos like this as reference. Most of the time they do not reflect how the airplane would actually sound like in real life if your were hearing them in person. Regarding your first post in this thread, I agree with you. The F-14 does not sound very convincing, especially inside the cockpit with the afterburner on. It's the same deal with the Viggen, which has also audio looping issues. Definitely looks like sound design is not Heatblur's strength... On Razbam's side, Mirage in-cockpit sound is bad too but for different reasons. Now other devs do a great job. ED, Belsimtek, Polychop have made some great quality stuff that are difficult to criticize.
