  1. Thanks! That's precisely what I was looking for. I'll have a look into this file and keep you guys updated. Sorry, in my long post I just lacked the proper vocabulary. I'll make an edit. Actually I meant that VR HMDs change your depth perception using the stereoscopic ability of your eyes (two different points of view that your brain combines into one) but without making your eyes accomodate. Because your eyes aren't used to that in real life, I guess that's what's creating eyestrain. Again I could be wrong though.
  2. I may have figured out what was happening. I think it all comes down to what VR headsets are doing to give users distance perception. Basically they have to trick the brain into thinking you're looking at a more or less distant object when in fact you aren't because the screens (one for each eye) remain at the same distance from your eyes at all times. Let me explain in more detail. VR headsets change your depth perception using the stereoscopic ability of your eyes (two different points of view that your brain combines into one). For example, when you look in the distance, the angular difference between each point of view will be negligible. Depth perception will be minimal. On the other hand, when you look at something up close it will become quite important. Problem is VR headsets do this but without making your eyes accomodate which of course confuses the brain, which isn't used to this kind of scenario. Your brain then sends signals to your eye muscles to make adjustments when in fact, there is no need for it, creating discomfort and eyestrain. I could be wrong though. Please take what I said with a grain of salt.

Ils n'ont même pas pris soin de retirer le sticker jaune... la honte !
  4. Are you sure you installed the latest update?
  5. I don't know if the issue is also present in other titles but it's very much possible. I'll try some Assetto Corsa and let you know. I'd be really glad if there's a .lua file somewhere where you can tweak the viewpoint gap manually. That would basically solve my problem.
  6. Hi there ladies and gents! I've been using the Rift for about 2-3 weeks now and although I've configured everything as best as I could, one thing still remains off: the in-game eye distance doesn't match up with real life. I know, you have to adjust your IPD using the slider on the headset... and that's what I did. (mine is 66 millimeters by the way) I have a clear picture on each eye and 66 mm is where it feels the most natural, crisp and effortless. I took some time to adjust it so I don't think my IPD adjustment is to blame. Yet in-game, my left eye and right eye images don't align properly. They seem too far apart resulting in double vision, discomfort and even eyestrain after long sessions. So my question is: can I do anything about it? Is there anyone else experiencing the same issue? I'm pretty sure it can be tuned manually in the software but I don't know how. Any thought? EDIT: It seems that in-game eye distance is perfectly fine and that the discomfort I experienced comes from the way VR headsets are designed and handle stereoscopic vision.
  7. The devs can't do much about it. It's more a matter of Oculus and HTC giving us higher res display on their VR HMDs.
  8. Well, it's a complete and thorough simulation of this gps system. So I understand why they're making us pay for it. I would have expected to see it at 10 bucks instead of 15 but hey at least it's still in the realm of reason.
  9. I would say rudder pedals are a must. You might not want to spend a leg on it though, especially if you're just starting with DCS. The T.Flight set at 100 bucks will do the job perfectly fine.
  10. I spotted a difference here that I circled in red. Also in a more subtle manner, at the tip of the tail, there are tiny horizontal fins in place of the bulge we can see on the 3D model. Maybe just due to the fact the model isn't finished and you'll want to say thanks captain obvious but I still wanted to point these out just in case.
  11. What I did was get a little thin and narrow table (kinda like a night table but a tad taller), placed it behind my desk and put my rift sensors on it. That way I have my sensors far enough while still being able to use my desk normally.
  12. A big thank you for fixing this great mod. I used to deactivate it when flying at night because of the backlighting issue but now I won't have to anymore! :D Just a little remark: the readme says you must copy the folder to users\saved games\dcs but actually the path is Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\A-10C\
  13. Does keypad 5 work in this case? I've read keypad view commands were disabled in VR... Didn't try yet.
  14. Thanks for sharing your experience. I didn't know about Pimax before and after reading your post I don't regret buying my rift despite its low res. At least they didn't ship it with dust inside :noexpression:
  15. Yes, currently the resolution is simply too low and there's basically nothing you can do except implement some kind of smart scaling ingame.
  16. Exactly. You have to enable "use mouse in VR" and "confine mouse to game window".
  17. In DCS I would go to Options --> Controls --> UI layer (in the dropdown menu under your aircraft names) --> Reset VR center position (or something like this) --> bind this command to space bar or whatever he's comfortable with. Now tell him to move his head forward and press space bar. Then he can move his head back to its normal position and voila. His view ingame will be aft of where it was before and will remain as his new default position. Hope this helps. EDIT: Basically what I said corresponds to Sec 6 from the post in the link given below
  18. I guess the virtual gloves will eventually serve when we'll be able to put on VR gloves and be able to click stuff in the cockpit with our own fingers. Probably not for tomorrow though.
  19. It doesn't surprise me. The built-in VR preset isn't the best in my opinion. You need to switch pretty much all the eye candy off (HDR, shadows, AA, etc.) and set your pixel density to 1.0. Start from there, see what fps you're getting and then add stuff very gradually. Even with everything turned off and a gtx 980 I struggle to get over 45 fps most of the time.
  20. It's the way it's pitched that makes it sound amazing. Is the difference between the two pictures really made by msgaa alone or did they turn off a few extra settings to make it look more appealing...? Probably. Nvidia are very well capable of that and I would be very cautious when it comes to their marketing.
  21. Actually the 4 ports one has more bandwith per port. So in theory you're safer with this model. Is it really needed for the rift to work flawlessly? Maybe not, I don't know. It's not mandatory that's for sure. Just a good option if you really happen to need extra usb ports. I just think at around 20 ish bucks it's far better than buying a hub.
  22. A USB hub would be a pretty bad option I guess. You should try to look into a pcie expansion card instead. Have a look at this page on the Oculus support website where they are addressing the issue. They're even telling exactly what expansion card to get. :)
  23. Thanks, I couldn't find them. Good to know they are WIP cause to me they look nearly the same as the ones we have right now. :noexpression:
