  1. NVM problem solved. I had a USB extension hub plugged in ad for some reason my setup doesnt like it. Unplugged it and we're golden! Thankfully my mobo has a LOT of USB ports...
  2. Ok so it was nothing to do with the primary monitor thing, turns out it was AA. I remember that from before when I set it up on my other machine, I just forgot lol. By the by my main monitor is 75Hz so I have always run with the rift secondary on my other machine. Game runs perfectly in the rift, looks and runs awesome even with everything at max. HOWEVER: When I plug in my flight stick / throttle, we are back to black screen. Literally dubble yooo tee eff. Anyone come across this?
  3. Thanks Will, looks like I will have to try the fabled Dance of the Primary Monitors and see if its helps :D
  4. Thank you good sir :) This means that my problem lies elsewhere. Hmmmmmm.
  5. I know its been asked several times and not been answered yet (well, after having Ctrl+F'd 100 pages of this thread for SLI anyway), but does DCS DK2 work with SLI? I just built a new rig. My old one was a gaming laptop which was just plug and play, but I am struggling with getting DK2 working with my rig. The game works fine in SLI on a monitor, but my two Nvidia 980 GTX's just give me the black screen treatment in the DK2. Is SLI meant to work, and I just need to fiddle about with it? I am getting really good frame rates with an OC'd 5820K and SLI cards on a monitor at all high settings so I cant wait to see what its like in the Rift, especially with DSR on. I've not tried single card yet. Specs: CPU: i7-5820K tried at various clocks GPU: DUAL SLI EVGA 980 GTX SC ACX 2.0 RAM: 16GB Corsair Dominator DDR4 2666MHz SSD: Samsung PRO 850 500 GB Cooler: Corsair H105 PSU: 1000W Superflower Leadex Platinum
  6. Excellent news. A couple of mine are borked, including my very favourite "First Try", but I think devs are going to be looking at doing a bit of firefighting every time a new SDK comes out.
  7. Thanks mate. I installed it and fired up the rift. I probably should have run it before installing as a comparison, I was too eager! I THINK its slightly more readable in the rift, certainly the power panel on the right seems easier to read. I still struggle with a lot of the low down, tiny little switches but I think its helped. I have really neglected Black Shark. Once I have my new rig built and a decent monitor, I am going to work through the tutorials and learn the chopper properly. The tutorials are just unworkable in the Oculus at the mo, but flying it with it on is just incredible.
  8. Hi there Does the HD (black) mod still work with DCS, e.g. the current version? I'd love to see if it improves anything in the oculus rift.
  9. Apparently you dont enable it, all it does is add extra resolution options in game. You select one of them and DSR basically fools the game into thinking you are using a higher res screen, and downscales it to what you are actually using.
  10. You havent found any of your existing unity based demos / games are now broken?
  11. You might want to hold off on the new SDK. It breaks a load of existing unity based demos. That means your collection of rift demos may suddenly be useless hdd space hogs.
  12. Slightly O/T but is anyone working on a "factory fresh" texture overhaul for the Mig? I know people are really fond of the weathered look, but I like the whole travelling back in time thing of sitting in a right-out-of-the-wrapper fighter :) I'm sure I found a used tissue in the Bis the other day...
  13. Thank you, what a great answer :)
  14. So hang on, was this purely an evaporative system then, as opposed to a close loop refrigeration type cycle? I guess that would make sense, otherwise there is no reason why you would run out! Was there a vent for it?
  15. May or may not be relevant to the migs, but found this article on alcohol as a refrigerant: http://www.refrigtech.com/Knowledge_Center/knowledge_kiss.html I am assuming the mig would have some kind of heat exchange loop similar to a refrigeration cycle, so perhaps the migs would have suffered from the same thing. I also read reports of engineers drinking it, for real. However its not actually "drinking" alcohol, so... death. There are better refrigerants and coolants out there now.
  16. Is it possible that something changes with the way fuel is fed to the engines after reload, like pump settings / valve configs? Maybe someone could check fuel flow whilst in the air? Other than that, the only time I have seen a performance drop off was from using the afterburner for too long or overstressing the airframe.
  17. I tried war thunder the other day, in the tutorial the 6dof cockpit seemed horribly broken and I kept getting view snapping and clipping. Is this ok now? Game itself seemed pretty shallow compared to DCS but the graphics are nice and give a good flight / presence sensation.
  18. Just wondering if anyone splashed out on a 5820K? If so have you OC'd it, and are you seeing improvements in DCS, what with it being mostly CPU bound at the moment? I saw a tread the other day with someone seeing no improvement when moving up to a GTX 970 / 980, so I am wondering what impact the new CPU's are having, if any.
  19. Are you talking about setting the Rift Display Mode to "Direct HMD Access from Apps" and then running oculus programs, or are you talking about double clicking the Direct To Rift exe of the program whilst set to "extend desktop to the HMD" in the options?
  20. Hi Derek, Wireline here from the Oculus forums :) Yes indeed there is a problem with direct mode in that very few demos or games have ever worked with it. Extended mode was always intended as a backup by Oculus, but it has ended up being the default go-to because no one seems to be able to make direct work reliably. Also true about the 60Hz / 75Hz thing. I run DCS: 1. Full screen OFF, this prevents the "can't click anything" problem, but you can only do it if your monitor is 75Hz 2. Normal monitor as primary. DCS starts up on my primary, then launches in rift when I start a mission. Performance is no better or worse than if I set rift as primary, and I don;t have to faff about with open broadcaster or do the one eyed willy dance. Oculus will hopefully bring out updates to the SDK, but if more big devs are coming out in the open and saying "direct mode is borked so we aren't bothering", this might help speed things up. Re: Performance, Its difficult to tell on my gaming laptop if its my FPS or something else causing judder. I am in the process of building a bit of a monster for all my flight sims and intend OC'ing as high as possible, so I will let you know how I get on.
  21. I am sure this will have been answered somewhere in this 79 page thread, so apologies for asking again... but I just purchased. How long should it be before the licence code turns up in my email? I will keep an eye out for it.
  22. Oh I see ... we are making yoke puns eh? Get a grip. Lol. Geddit? How about leather finish?
