How to add the Navigation Lamp into the MOD?
7rooper replied to RICK's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
Cool jet over there. It looks like a Eurofighter but with one engine. -
Yeah, sure .... and it's coming along with BS..

Hawg11, you couldn't have been more right.. For real? Those are more good news

What a beautiful thing!.. not even a paid addon for FSX can keep up. I'm serious. Gentlemen, give a warm welcome to Lock On 2!
-
So what?? In order to get the most out of LO, new players must get it the legal way. My theory is that LO's increasing popularity is due to the fact the most exported planes are the sukhois and the closest experience in flying them these days is not via FSX or any other (if there is) simulation game but Lock on. Besides I've been like a good evangelist spreading the word :D

Great artworks, Yanicery. You're a very talented 3D artist. Regarding plane request, I'd very much like to see a new F-15 model. Walmis's eagle is awesome and has cool details but still way to be totally satisfying -No damage model, something weird about its nose-. The F/A-18 is also demanding an overhauling. What would be next to make LO better than any simmer out there? Full 3D cockpits! it doesnt matter wheter or not they're clickables.

Somehow they pay more attention to the topics in russian. I don't understand a single word in russian but I can see far more feedback from ED members in those forums than in these. What do they discuss? features, wishes..? I just dont know.
-
Amazing! that's LO^3! Does your current project includes all those cool models?
-
So be it. thanks for the explanation, superkung-fu.

The reason why Tetris is so popular, besides the one you menction above, is that it is so simple to play, period. I dont think main ED's goal is to produce a game to be rendered in every single PC in the whole planet. They're very aware that simulation games have a small, quite small, quantity of fans -most people think of this gender as boring- and even smaller when it comes to such a hardcore simmer as BS. If we payed attention to a common trend we'd realize that most of simulation gamers have top notch rigs because they're very aware of the hardware and pheripherals demands of these games in order to provide the most realistic experience possible. Of course ED people are professionals and it's their task to optimize the game as much as possible -if ED would've released LO the way we currently have it with mods and textures replacements it would have been 2 times more FPS friendly-. This mod, for sure, will hit FPS, even though it'll be more RAM hungry, since there's always a trade off between quality and performance.

I agree with you. About the BS multiplayer panorama ...I'm curious too. What is it gonna be like?

LO is DX 8 since it takes advantage of Pixel shaders 1.1 to show off those ripples on the sea and those scratches on the cockpit glass via bump reflections maps. You can even get get its maximun eye candy with the lowest and oldest DX8 compliant vcard (Geforce3, Radeon 8500). Nevertheless an DX 9-10 update is possible it's just that I dont think an amateur coder or programmer from this community can do that. It's true hardwork! In our hands what I see most possible to achieve would be a better skybox, textures improvementes, new sprites -smoke is cool the way it is-, more detailed static models (bridges and buildings). better lightning and environment (HDR, FOG) effects would necessarily require an DX API upgrade. Well.. I'm not sure about this..but isnt it possible to make bump mapped skins for the planes? That would add great detail to those rivets, seams and bolts typically found in a plane body.

So am I. This a slow plane ad its landing speed is quite low.

One of the dead projects that I saw almost ready to be released was the Gys' Tomcat. It looked so cool. What went wrong? That's one I'd pretty much like it to be revived.
-
So am I and the best part it's that LO is going to keep looking and feeling better everyday. btw, is it possible if somebody give LO's engine an DX10 update? ...I guess I'm asking too much...
-
There's wisdom in those words, rattler. No more agreed I can be. My expectations about BS are huge but I'm not leaving LO as as soon as it is released. And I personally don't see many LO fighter pilots jumping on a chopper and leaving behind more than 4 years of LO. LO is a masterpiece and what I like the most about it is its fans who had built a community as if it were a big squad struggling against its outdating and flaws and putting a big effort giving the game some breath day after day so it doesn't fall into forsaken. So far the game has been tremendeously enhanced and still requires some beefy raw power from our hardware trying to keep up these days demands. There's something about this game that keeps you hooked, I dont know if it's either the lack of combat flight sims or its flexibility but I just can't see any other to be its equal. Many thanks to the dedicated modders and contributors. Long life to Lock On. Cheers

I've read all these 4 pages of comments and I can say that your begs are fair enough. We do need a more realistic head/camera movement in cockpit-not a camera jittering or that useless natural head movement- but in order to be achieved a full 3d cockpit must be done first. It doesn't have why to be so detailed as the KA50 pit but at least it must have its separated panels and, this is key, a full 3D hud...well if the pilot's legs could be also 3D would be even more awesome. Having this true 3D cockpit some more realistic shading and lightning effects can be seen, it isnt even necessary to tweak anything since the default environment lighting would do the job. Just imagine what we could get to see in a moderately detailed cockpit!!. I once made, in 3DSMAX, a 3D cockpit for a MiG21, put a camera inside and rendered a cool 25 seconds dogfight video, it's a shame that I dont have the file any longer-might have been useful for starting a new project- 'cause it went away along with the thief that stole my PC :( Of course the making of the flyable planes cockpits is a huge work and we wouldnt even have the certainity if we could get to explore it from our game since the 6DFO option/compatibility is a, while not difficult, professional task which is up to ED PS. Why didnt the guy who compare the simulators use the mirrors in cockpit when flying the flaker in LO? Just to make LO look even worse.

beautiful... the new model is astonishing beautiful. I'll definitely use it!

well... what can I say? Google is your friend. Actually, if planes is what you'd like to see, there's no much to get of our Air Force. The FAC (Fuerza Aerea Colombiana) is has a short number of fighters and they're kinda obsoletes for today standarts -enhanced KFIRs-, most of the aircrafts here are merely intended for infantry and supplies transportation. Colombia is a peaceful country and we don't mess around with other nations so a stronger AF has been, so far, not necessary. btw, our infantry is one of the best ones around the globe and is a thing to be proud of. You can, however, visit the FAC website on http://www.fac.mil.co

No me di cuenta antes.... I should've read that thread that states "LF was down" before :D Pero opinen muchachos, opinen....

what spinning? the A-10 engines spinning? if so are we gonna have spinning turbines only when taxing? are they going to stop spinning as soon as the gear is up? Isn't it possible to attach the gun barrels rotation to the gun smoke sprite argument? ...just a thought ^^v

Was it down?

The only thing I got was meinit.xml :P. I know it wasn't 4 me....I know. It's just curious to me that those chars have a meaning

That's totally right. It's a remarkable achievement so far, though. Now if you start over you will get the edge.
