Was just coming to post this. lol Hmmmm.... I'm leaning towards the Bigscreen personally, due to the form factor and the Micro OLED display... Both need base stations, but the eye tracking in the Varjo is extremely enticing.

Was playing Liberation yesterday in the Caucuses map, it generated a mission to go take out an SA-10 site. I know these are super-tough nuts to crack, but figured I'd play SEAD in my two-ship F-16 element. I modified the package to use 2 F-15Es on DEAD w/CBU-97s and 4 F-15Cs for Escort. On the way to Steerpoint 2, which is over the Black Sea before we make an eastward turn to Steerpoint 3, we picked up a couple MiG-31s on RWR. Figured I'd ignore them as they were turning cold. About 5 minutes later, the hornets nest erupted. I did not survive this encounter, nor did any of our package. After I died, and killed 2 MiG-31s, I counted 13 Su-30s and 8 MiG-31s on the F-10 view. They utterly wiped us out - I've never seen so many enemy aircraft scrambled before in Liberation. I didn't feel quite so bad about dying once I saw how many enemy aircraft there were and how few we were. lol

If the big screen had eye tracking, I'd get it immediately. If it had eye tracking and better FOV, I'd throw myself at them. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk

Windows Key + Y. That switches between the desktop and the G2. What I do is alt+tab, Win Y to the desktop and the click the dcs icon on the windows bar. That should make the cursor usable in the game. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk

Really looking forward to your experiences with it. If you like it, I might end up getting one too. No pressure.

Looks like they've increased the FOV to G2 specs for the version that will be shipping soon. I'm really considering this. I have the G2, but also an OLED monitor. Switching to the G2 is such a massive hit in the visual quality with color/contrast that it's almost hard to keep using it. The G2 also gets really warm. Couple that with the G2 has great sweet-spot clarity but terrible off-center clarity... I just wish it didn't need base stations. I also only use VR for flight sims (DCS and MSFS 2020). Grrr...

I asked a friend of mine to take a look into this since he has an Ender 3 printer (I believe). He said it's going to take two weeks to print the main housing, let alone the grips and button tops. So, be prepared, this is not a couple hour print! Sent from my SM-S908U using Tapatalk

What are you using for AH-64 controllers?
CybrSlydr replied to CybrSlydr's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Holy Jeebus. Saw someone built a TEDAC for the AH-64 with a 3D printer and everything @Assamita(https://srsosio.wixsite.com/ah-64d-tedac). So I googled TEDAC and apparently folks have been using an XBox 360 controller for the TEDAC? This is awesome! I haven't set it up or tried it yet, but wow! I'm posting this in case someone views this thread and was as unaware as I was. A lot better than waiting to buy a $1200 TEDAC from Komodo! lol I think I'll give it a go and see how it works for me. Be nice to actually be able to play the AH-64. -
I bought the F-16EX stick and base. I also pre-ordered the F15E and see it shares the throttle handle with the F18 essentially, and the A10. So, I want to buy the handle to use with my throttle. What all do I need to make this work? The handle and some sort of connector? EDIT: I meant to say I bought the stick and throttle with the F16 handle Sent from my SM-S908U using Tapatalk

Quest Pro vs G2 Impressions - 4090/7950x3D
CybrSlydr replied to DirtyMike0330's topic in Virtual Reality
Color me surprised. I have a G2 and was pondering what my next upgrade was going to be for a wider FOV and better edge to edge clarity. Might have to "rent" one from BestBuy and see what you're talking about - though I do not like the idea of giving Facebook even more of my data. EDIT: The biggest hit on the G2 for me is that I have an OLED monitor and switching between the two, the difference is quite stark. I wish I could get OLED quality picture in VR. -
I attempted to get back into the AH-64 and... I'm frankly overwhelmed by the number and complexity of controls to get the damn thing to work. I have the WinWing F-16EX and F-16 throttle, but I'm sitting here absolutely bamboozled as to how in the world I'm supposed to get a helpful number of controls assigned to this controller. Let alone the AI pilot interface is nigh-unreadable in VR. What are you folks using for controls for this? I saw the Komodo controllers, but they're $600 GBP for the collective stick, and $500 GBP for the cyclic and base. That's clearly out of the question for me.

I placed my pre-order - can't wait!

Yeah, but how many of those buying the 4080 are scalpers trying to take advantage of the 7900XTX whimper? -

If this is true, this is one of the biggest OOFs I've seen in a long time. https://wccftech.com/rumors-allege-amd-shipped-unfinished-rdna-3-navi-31-a0-gpu-silicon-in-radeon-rx-7900-series/ Rumors Allege AMD Shipped Unfinished RDNA 3 Navi 31 A0 GPU Silicon In Radeon RX 7900 Series As discovered by Kepler_L2, it looks like early RDNA 3 silicon had a non-working shader prefetch HW. This was featured in three chips, the GFX1100 (Navi 31), GFX1102 (Navi 33), & GFX1103 (the APU lineup consisting of Phoenix chips). Now based on the latest GitHub submission. Kepler is also suggesting that Navi 32 GPUs are actually based on the 'GFX1103' IP whereas Navi 33 chips feature the 'GFX1102' IP. The same issues are found on every other chip besides Navi 32 which is going to be featured in several mainstream discrete GPUs on desktop and mobility platforms by early 2023. ... But that's not all, other major features such as the VOPD instructions featured on the RDNA 3 GPUs claimed to offer a big improvement in performance but in reality, they only managed to deliver a 4 percent improvement over RDNA 2 in ray tracing titles. The RDNA 3 silicon was designed to handle dual Wave32 instructions for twice the floating point performance by utilizing 64 multi-precision & multi-purpose ALUs implemented across 2 SIMD32 units. Talking to an AMD representative, folks over at HardwareTimes were able to confirm that AMD is currently in the process of fine-tuning the performance here and expects optimizations along the way: -

Here's a screenshot from a Liberation campaign in Syria. CPU frame time is in the high 40ms-low50ms most of the time. Reprojection ratio is in the mid 50%. It's also chewing up and using all 32GB of my system RAM and 15.6 of the 16GB of my VRAM. EDIT: Sorry, wrong screenshot. null -

Do you folks think my 8700k is hampering my 6800XT in VR? Would getting something like a 13700k, 32GB DDR5 help out rather than getting a new gen GPU? -

I'd watch Tom's vid I posted before you do that - I'm now reconsidering. It sounds like there could be a hardware flaw - and you can't fix hardware flaws with drivers. -

7900XTX and XTs are up on BB's website. I'll be at the store at 10am when it opens to see if they actually have any in stock on day one. I'm guessing no, but I'm hoping to be surprised.
