  1. Been letting George do the majority of my flying so I can learn the CP/G position - and he's very good at running us into the ground! Any time we come across a draw or drainage, he'll follow with the radar altitude but when we reach the other side, he'll plow right into the side of the drainage, like he can't compensate for the change in terrain fast enough.
  2. Yeah, it's not coming. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/268624-apkws/?do=findComment&comment=4632486 Posted April 18, 2021 we have no plans currently for APKWS on the DCS AH-64D Thanks
  3. For now, my auto-hover is switching to the CP/G and telling George a specific altitude at 0kts. lol
  4. Pretty straight-forward: why? Those Hellfires give you pretty much 16 guaranteed kills, and the chain gun can dispatch any other light-skinned targets.
  5. I have a Cougar HOTAS. I started out following Wag's control setup video and mapped the majority of items needed. For instance, as CP/G the weapon selection HAT is my TMS hat, the zoom for the TADS is the DMS hat, I switch between TADS and HDS with the CMS hat. Weapon release is the red button up top, manual slew of the TADS is the throttle radar cursor, rudder is the 4-way radio switch on the throttle, inertial stabilizer or whatever it's called is the depress on the rng/uncage rotary on the throttle, slave is the MSL button on the stick. So far, it's working for CP/G and pilot, though there isn't much that the pilot really requires. Symbology switch is the DMS, tail wheel lock/unlock is the pinky switch on the stick.
  6. I emailed them and got this reply. Sent from my SM-S908U using Tapatalk
  7. I'm working my way through Wag's control setup video but there just aren't enough buttons on this HOTAS. Needs another mini-stick and a bunch more buttons. It works for the Pilot but CP/G is just... so many buttons.
  8. Ok, so I have the Cougar HOTAS and I'm trying to mine you folks for help on how to get the most important parts for the Apache on this HOTAS. Currently, I don't have track IR or VR (will fix that early next week). What we have on the stick are 3 4-way HATs and one 8-way HAT, two-stage trigger, weapon release button, pinky switch, NWS button and MSL mode buttons. What are the four most important HAT switches that the Apache needs? Moving to the throttle, have the rdr cursor with depress, two 3-position switches, two knobs (one with depress) and the 4-way boat switch (? unsure of proper name). I'm currently thinking the rdr range knob depress would work well as a tail wheel unlock, the dogfight might work well as the symbology switch, rdr cursor and depress as the TAD slew and las/store button. I've currently got the 4-way radio switch set to wheel brake forward and left/right yaw. Really appreciate your folks input so we can get this worked out!
  9. Loving the Viper like I do, the Apache is frustratingly complicated. Like... Why can't it just be like the F-16? Slew the TADS, TMS-UP to lock on to the target, missile away. lol
  10. So the button on the left side of the console won't extinguish unless the tailwheel is straightened and you hit the lock button?
  11. I can't seem to get the tail wheel to lock after I unlock it.
  12. How are you folks handling taxiing? I'm doing training mission #2 and all I can seem to do is rotate around my axis like a merry-go-round. Very little yaw control to keep it going straight. I'm using a Cougar HOTAS - I have the radio 4-way bound to my left-right rudder control for now.
  13. No kidding - I'm still pissed at how expensive they are, but I was tired of waiting. I don't know when these things are ever coming down in price, and I wanted an upgrade. BH Photo made me an offer I decided I didn't want to refuse, so I bit. Should be here early next week.
  14. Obviously, the Quest 2 is very attractive at the price point. Is it an acceptable device? Or do we really want to use something like the Reverb or something? EDIT: Nevermind, I just decided to get the G2. lol
  15. What kind of performance numbers are you getting with it?
  16. I just got an RX 6800XT and really want to get a VR headset for DCS (one of the main reasons for upgrading my 1080). Which ones should I be looking into that my new 6800XT will be able to power sufficiently?
  17. I loaded up a new mission in the Mission Editor and went to place the AH64 so I could play around with it, but I can't find it. It's been installed and shows as such in the modules. Oh Jesus... It's in the helo stuff right below the airplane button. D'oh. Sorry guys, this is my first DCS helo. lol
  18. Now this is awesome! I may get the F16 HOTAS now. Sent from my SM-S908U using Tapatalk
  19. I'll address everyone in this post - I'm mostly looking at F10 to see which ones are no longer functioning and trying to take out as many as possible.
  20. The one weapon I wish the F16 carried IRL is the SLAM-ER from the F18. Being able to strap on 4 of them like the F18 would be amazing. It would make some of the DEAD sorties to take out EWR and other targets pretty sweet. Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk
  21. Are the JSOW any better with their submunitions?
  22. I figured a CBU-105 would be perfect. Lots of bomblets that seek out the targets and will nuke them. But I'm finding the CBU-105 isn't that good. You'll get damage, but nothing is destroyed. Just take 6 Mk82s and ripple them at 100ft intervals to get the whole row? What's your preferred method of destruction here?
  23. So, last night, I decided to try AA refueling while in a Liberation Syria mission in my F-16 for the first time. Long strike up into Turkey to take out a FARP base. Me and my wingman had 2x 2000lb JDAMs and two 370gal fuel tanks. Having gone to the same place last mission (didn't kill everything, oops), I was close to 1000lbs fuel when I got back to Ramat David. So this time, I figured I'd try AA refueling. First issue was the tanker didn't take off until almost 10min into the mission, so I had to fly a decent way away from the tanker before going to him. Second issue was... I suck at AA refueling. I've tried a practice mission before and only accomplished AA refueling once. Just so hard to make small corrections with the Cougar HOTAS. So, I started the mission with about 10klbs or so. I was so unsuccessful, the tanker had to slow down to 230kts so it could extend it's endurance from 320ish. The final embarrassment was the tanker had to fly home b/c it was low on fuel and I still hadn't successfully refueled. I think I was at around 2500lbs down from 10k. lol I also lost track of my wingman. I dunno if he RTB'd when he hit bingo fuel or what, but when I hit F2, he was goooone. So, how many wingmen have you folks killed because you couldn't manage to AA refuel? lol
  24. Are we going to have to call the local COPs when we fly near and ask for rouse and gun status? "Banshee 1-1, Gator Main. Rouse and gun status cold, over" Don't want us to catch a 105mm round or be near the impact zone. lol
  25. The mode I use the most is RUK. Allows me to just specify the steerpoint and the SAM to look for, fire it, and get on with life. Especially since HAS mode doesn't have any range information.
