  1. My experience is the same. I have stable 60fps (Vsync on) 1080p with every single jet and ww2 module on every single map but when I have tried the instant action "free flight" with the Anton I have got about 40-50fps every single time at Normandy. Sometimes it drops even lower to 15-30fps. It feels the fps drops even more from specific angles looking out from the cockpit. I noticed that the Anton Free Free flight instant mission at Normandy has many effect like smoke and units flying around compared to the rest so I am am not sure if it has anything to do with the perfocmance flying this module. Tomorrow I will test it more with custom made missions or other stock one with less possible assets turned on . But for the first sight it feels like this is some kind of optimization issue .
  2. I thought it just me when my FW-190 was shot down yesterday I ejected and watched its impact from a great perspective from the top and I said "WOW" because I haven't seen this kind of impact explosion in DCS before. Maybe it was just a lucky perspective and we just imagine things ? Its hard to know since the patch notes does not cover every little bit of graphical update detail I guess but to me this explosion felt new. :D About the impact damage and DM. I am not sure because I haven't played many hour WW2 and the last time was long ago for about year but I felt I have just seen fresh new things like I lost my ailerons ang got a lot of nice bulletholes on the wings and on the windshield. Are these new? I am really looking forward to the ww2 updates and the new maps and I am pretty sure I will buy my next ww2 module real soon. Thanks to this free for all opportunity what really helps beside the love that the ww2 era will get from ED in the near future.

  4. I am not an expert of the manufacturing history of the ww2 fighters but I guess its also worth to consider that maybe not every cockpit had been the exact same I mean proportion wise with instrument placing with milimeter accuracies although they had the same model numbers. I am saying this considering that the speed of the construction time was a big factor back than obviously and most of these planes were "slapped" together during wartime probably within a couple of weeks. Beside it might be also possible that many spare parts from previous models had been reused so I guess it can be that not every Dora came out from the production line as a brand new product with milimeter accuracy standards like the cars/planes today especially the late models like the Dora because by then it was not about showing superiority but to survive I guess. So It might be that not every FW-190D9 had been the exact copies of each other with the exact same instrument placing and exact same cockpit "aesthetics". Beside who knows how many reconstruction of these historical planes exist today went through or the one ED based on their 3D model of the cockpit. With modern aircrafts I would be more critical because they have been manufactured in "peace" time with different standards with modern manufacturing technologies and timeframes but in this case I would say we have to trust ED that they are passionate enough about their product to make these models as authentical and accurate as possible and the differences probably due to that a lot of of these aircrafts had been or now are "unique". :D
  5. Sorry I called them energy fighters because as I know in comparison the german fighters with their opponents the german fighters supposed to have a measurable advantage in maximum speed and gaining energy but this make them worse in turning so thats why they have to use different tactics like boom and zoom while their opponents was known for they turnfight capabilities. Engine power and climb rate is one thing but its also important how much speed you will gain during the dive and how much of that gained energy will lost with the next climb. According to my reading about these fighters in the past In theory the Dora would bleeed more speed during turns than the spitfire or mustang thanks to its airframe design but woukd gain more speed while diving and I guess its tolerance of high speed is also higher. I am not sure how my sources was historically or technically accurate though but this is what I have gathered some time ago. I am not an expert at all but I think that if you wanna test really that the Dora is undeperforming or not compared to the real thing than you should also test how long can it retains its energy in cimbing and diving pattern without hard turns because in theory it should beat these ally fighters in this department. If someone would have a direct comparison of performance of the real things from experts who experienced them from first hand that would be really interesting. Btw yesterday I have started to fly the dora again after a huge break and I did not experience any overheating issue yet using the beta.
  6. What is the problem with the cockpit of the dora? I have the Dora for years and its my single WW2 module. I have heard some user mentioned how superior the cockpit and the model of the new A8 module compared to the Dora. So I have just tried all the WW2 module with a few minute free flight thanks of the generous opportunity of the "free for all" month from ED. Maybe I am missing something but apart from the exterior textures and model what might be a little bit less detailed for the first sight (or not less at all) I found the cockpit of the Dora pretty nice if not the best for my eyes compared to the rest. Do you have problem with the accuracy of the proportions? I can't comment on that since I haven't sit in a real one but I like the quality of the textures an the model of the cockpit the most of all the ww2 module. Back to the topic. If there would have been a WW2 Normandy DLC campaign for the Dora I am pretty sure I would have bought it already. Maybe after the updated damage model is out accompanied with the new ww2 maps that would generate a bit more love for the Dora also. :D
  7. I am not an expert but as far as I know most of the ww2 german fighter have been energy fighter so its not a surprise that they are bad at turnfights. Probably it needs lot more experience , skill and tactical maneuvering knowledge to be able to use the advantage of these german fighters sucessfully. I guess in MP you have to learn and accept that you have to boom and zoom because dogfighting will only work against "incompetent" opponents and if you do it you have to accept that you will be probably handicapped. I think there is nothing wrong with that its not balanced perfectly for the sake of MP and you are forced to use realistic tactics . Thats why we play DCS and not that other sim but even there when I have played it a lot after its release the balance and working tactic between these fighters have been almost the same . German fighers boomed and zoomed than had to ran while spifires and p51s wanted turnfights. I rather being shot down flying the dora 9 times out 10 while trying to fight in handicapped situations for this plane against similar skilled opponents instead of 5/10 and having a rather unrealistic result.
  8. Thank you ED! I wish you and your families good luck and good health in the upcomming months! ps. The title of the sale is great.
  9. I would rather see the WWII content expand and get fleshed out for the best WW2 combat experience with hisorically accurate campaigns more assets aircrafts and such. If Its finished I don't mind if they do the same for WW1. :D
  10. Thanks for the reply , than it might be it that their trajectory make it harder to track them it sounds perfectly logical but It makes the situations a bit harder than it seems jester did not try to change radar settings based on the situation after these lost lock like a real Rio would do(I guess) . Yes he is just an AI maybe I expecting too much. I love the F-14 much more than the F/A-18 (not to mention I really hate the feel of FBW) but my first impression about its radar using Jester is a bit of a letdown that in my first ten or so hour of practicing A2A combat I mostly had to rely on visual target finding even though I have an AI rio who handles a good radar (and supposed to be a pro :D). I hope its just my level of skills and I need a lot more practice and tips about how to use Jester more efficently. I am still very unexperienced in using radar systems in DCS thats why I liked the idea that If I fly the F-14 I wouldn't have to do it but it seems that with my low skill of using radar systems I have had easier time in BVR handling radar systems myself with the F15 or with the F/A-18. Especially with the F/A-18 BVR felt like cheating compared to this but maybe Its radar is better? Btw I know its meaning is beyond visual range I have no idea why I used "w" but thanks for the corrections. :D
  11. Thanks for the reply! I am trying to practice how to find targets alone using jester and only the radar of the aircraft. I have found a tutorial at youtube about using jester in bwr. For example I am doing a simple practice mission where there are at least 6 enemy arcraft circling around the area at caucasus within 70nm at about 15000feet. I can see them on the f10 map flying exactly towards them and jester sometimes does not find them even when they are within 20nm . I set my display to TID to see the radar picture and sometimes I see enemy aircrafts on it and jester also shout that he found them than I set him to STT lock on to the closest enemy and he does it but the lock is lost most of the time even though they are still in front of me far away so its not like they should disappear if jester would do his work right. What am I missing here? It feels like jester always use some very narrow radar setting where small changes in the heading result a lost lock. I am not familiar with the radar of the F14 yet since I did not learn it due it should be handled by jester so maybe I am talking crap here but on other planes where I had to switch radar modes myself in the past I lost lock flying towards enemy only when I used a wrong radar setting or I was either too high or too low. Sometimes I see enemy targets on the radar from about 40nm jester reports them . I did not change the heading I fly towards them and they disappear than yester don't do any action to find them again but stay in the same radar setting/modes while it should be obvious that they are still there in front. It seems the F-14 have a very good radar in theory so I don't get it what I do wrongly. I am trying to play with labels off and it feels like I am blind. :D
  12. Since 2.5.6 update the training missions starting in the air (gun and missile training) with the active pause turned off while it is expected to be on so it has to be activated manually else the training targets are not there by the time the instructor say "press space to continue".
  13. I like to do missions from cold start and I wondered also what light should I set on/off in different situatuations. So I am also curious if someone have the answer. :D
  14. Hello! I am learning the F-14 doing simple missions in SP and I am not sure what should I expect from jester and from the radar of the tomcat. I have been using WW2 and older planes mostly in the last year so my basic knowlege about BWR went even worse. But I remember with the F-15 and F/A-18 in the past doing simple things like circling in a spot and switching radar modes could do the trick and I could spot and lock enemy targets if there was any with its radar in BWR while I can't do this with the F-14 from the front seat. So my question is do I have to learn being a RIO and find targets myself with the radar or which settings or maneuvers I should do with jester when doing CAP to search for possible threats consistently because it seems I am doing it wrong because jester almost never find anything until its already too late. Thanks for the help in advance!
  15. Hello DCS community! Sorry for the title its a bit exaggerated because it works but... :) Two years ago I have dedicated a bit more time to dcs and started to learn a couple of aircraft properly and back then I asked the same question. But it seem there have been no progress in this department since than (maybe it got worse?). About two years ago I have played the Viggen and the Dora "a lot" and managed to use the track replay feature with 70/30 luck. I mean for example in a 30 minute mission from take off to landing everything played almost perfectly accurately 7 times out of 10 if I did tricks like I did not touch any control in the first few minutes and did not use fast forward. But now I am learning the F-14 and I can't even use this feature any more because after a few seconds everything is off. :( Maybe I am in the minority but I love wathing replays in sim racing and flight sims enjoy the scenery from different perspective while analyzing what has happened. But here in DCS I always have had bad luck with making this feaure working. I love DCS but if this feature would work that would make the experience 100% better for me and I guess for all of those who love watching replays and creating videos. Is there any new trick to make this feature work accurately beside not touching anything in the first few minutes and no time scale change? Is there any plan to improve this replay track feature? Are these issues with the track replays addressed and cared at all? Thanks
  16. It seems you might miss an important factor here why there might be very different opinions about this. When people are judging lighting/colors or black levels in a computer game should consider that these factors are also hugely affected by the technology they use . LCD,LED,OLED,Plasma,CRT? TV or Monitor? What brand? What quality range? Not to mention what custom user settings are set sharpness/brightness/contrast/gamma/black levels/auto color or motion correcting features/dynamic contrast/etc. These all can be a huge factor how a lighting and colors can look. I am not saying those who have problems have cheap or bad quality screens I just wanna say that it can be a factor also worth to consider before judging . (I am pretty sure that even a simple screenshots you post looks very different on different screens . Different color tone contranst brightness sharpness so on.)
  17. Is it just me that the ground crew refuse to disconnect ground power and air since 2.5.6 update? They say "no can do - can't walk up to you. idle your engines!". But my engines are idle. I haven't seen this message before the update. Anyone else have this?
  18. I won't get my hopes up about Vulkan and the possible performance gain. Whatever games I have tried with vulkan support previously it had only about 5-10% performance gain or none at all on my PC while it was running with Vulkan compared to running it with DirectX. Its seems its a good API on paper but I have not seen anything where it was utilized to make a difference.
  19. I wonder if the "frame" developed for the deckcrew of the Supercarrier like the animation and interaction AI codes will be a DCS:World feature available for 3rd party like Heatblur to make their deck crew working on the Forestal Carrier or its an exlusive thing what they have to develop themself?
  20. I like the Viggen but I like realism so I aggree about that it feels out of place on every map . The least on caucasus but still it does not feel real. Flying the Viggen is like flying a WW2 plane at anywhere else but Normandy. Its hard to feel I am in a realisic war theatre and It feels I am just cruising in peace witha historical plane. It would be great if there would be a theatre to create realistic scenarios for the Viggen. If I remember correctly there had been plans about a proper theatre for the Viggen but I did not follow if there has been any progress made or not since than. Edit: But the campaing comming with this module does a very good job at making me forget that the caucasus probalby isn't a "natural" wartheatre of the Viggen though .
  21. If you have its software installed than I guess you just have to go to the control settings in DCS and search the line rudder under the axis commands than click on it on the collumn specified to your rudder than press the rudder left/right fully a few times so the game recognize it.
  22. I have also bonus points left. The bonus points can be used only on full price modules what are not part of any sale and It can't be used on new products. This infortmation has been in the bonus program FAQ for years so I am not surprised. Beside the value($) of the bonus points have been 20% of our purchase while miles are only 10%. So if there would be any chance to convert bonus points to miles it would be like 2 to 1. Just buy the F16/F14/Mig21bis and use your bonus points if you don't have them already. I think these are the things you can't get on discount for a while. You will get miles from the purchase (10% value) what you can use on the supercarrier. This is the only option .
  23. Thanks!
  24. But it could be used only on products what was not part of any sale already and I had bad luck with that because by the time I wanted to buy anything new not on discount it was always expired. :D Does anyone know is it still like that? I have a few bonus$ left and I am not sure if I could use it now on older product on discount like miles can be. My other question . Could anyone please tell me how long this preorder discount will last . Will it last until the early access module is released?
  25. I have bought many modues but only used a few of them long enough to justify my purchase but I have seen it not as a waste but a "fee" to support ED and the developement of this platform. I am pretty sure I will keep buying new modules until I have enough time and money to support this hobby even though the ones I already have provide me enough content to learn and master for years to come . But I think I will still keep buying new models even though I would probably never learn them all properly exactly because of how ED have handled this product in the past. No monthly fee. Constant developement a lot of imrpvement and new modules to buy and get excited about each year/month etc. Personally I am thankful to ED to creating a product like this what is rolling forward like it will never stop and like it will never become obsolete meanwhile manage to offer fresh new content to buy each year. This is exactly why I feel all my pruchase has value. I am pretty sure I would spend less or even skip DCS if it would be a payed service unless I would be 100% dedicated to play it regulary. But even than I would not be happy with that model because that usually makes most of the developer lazy and I think that would hurt more than it would help . Not to mention I doubt it will generate more income to them exactly because I think there are a lot of DCS user like me who can't dedicate enough time to play so regulary to justify a montly subscription. When I first discovered DCS at steam there have been only the A-10 and it was like DCS was only an "overpriced" single plane stand alone product with promises that they wanted to build on this platform and more would come. I was very sceptical by than but it seems ED manage to keep their bussiness rolling since than and look at what we have here by now . I think their effort to manage to get from there to here is a clear proof that they don't need an "unconvenient" montly subscription model to make their bussiness rolling and as a customer I am very happy about this. edit: But on a second thought ...there is one thing. The pool of the possible future modules getting smaller and smaller eventually that can be a thing what will make things harder like choosing what to create next but I think we are not there yet . Maybe the modern aviation lovers will ran out of wishes faster and have to accept compromises by accepting less realistically simulated moduels due to classification or wait they become declassified. :D
