  1. Dusty, Taking a whack at this. Your Blufor plan... around the mountains from Vegas and pushing up Sandy Valley or over the pass through Mountain View? Cool idea by the way. Sage
  2. Nice haul!
  3. Nice. That's a cheap printer! Lucky man. :) I'm going to attempt to back light since I'll soon have access to a laser cutter/engraver. I just converted the NATOPS layout into a CAD file and dropped it into SketchUP for clean up. Going to 3d it all then drop it down on a level plane for cutting. I have a 3d printed DDI bezel that is accurate to the real 18C so using the measurements on it to scale my SketchUP drawing. Sage
  4. True dat. I was however thinking about putting an LED inside to light up the word hook, because I -think- that is how it is on the actual plane, figured work on it would be easier if it was in half. If I find out it's not backlit or I give up on the idea :) I think I'll shoot for your way.
  5. Thanks LynxDK. Yeah, I was going to split it down the middle.
  6. Figured I might as well start a thread. Just made my first 3D part ever. We'll see how it turns out. Tail Hook Handle. images upload
  7. Thanks Deadman. JAR, looks great! I love that you put the step... Got me thinking... I had been debating how to go about getting into/out of my build when done. All the different setups... I'm guessing ED is modeling 163985-ish based on the old style center MFD bezel and the gun cam panel.
  8. So I 3d printed my first thing ever today. A little Dzus replica. Came out fairly decent. I'm about to go knob crazy. Only thing I'm having trouble finding online is a .stl file for the below.. The rest of the knobs in the pit are either already out there from Boeing simmers or are similar enough. I just haven't seen this type... Anybody seen one on thingi or somewhere else? Thanks, image hosting over 5mb
  9. So as far as I have been able to tell... Yes, a sh*t ton of work. :) I'm in the same boat as you Hollywood. Learning as I go. I have not been able to find any decent PCB's pre-built, due to the size. You can go custom, but it will be huge. Best advice I have got so far is to wire up the matrix's as you need them near each panel, vs one big one. Not pretty but it works. Sage
  10. Thanks Ian, That's exactly what I was talking about. Sage
  11. Hey guys. Still just putzing around slowly trying to learn all this stuff before I delve into my F/A-18C pit build full tilt. On the 18C UFC there are 6 separate LCD readouts. Can a single Arduino "talk" to five separate screens or do I need to plan on trying to wedge in a single large screen and make 6 different cut-outs? Thanks, Sage On a different note: The makerspace I am now part of is getting a new laser cuter with a 50-60" bed with infinite pass through so in theory I can cut all my cockpit parts out of it from 4x8' MDF and all my panels from large acrylic sheets. What's the recommendation from you all for the -cheapest- design software? I have an amazing sketchup file provided free by Klu on hornetpits.org to begin to work from but I hear Sketchup may not be the best for this stuff. I'm re-starting my masters so I will be a "student" for the stuff that has educational prices. :)
  12. 4 9654K331 Extension Spring http://www.industrial-springs.com/ Sorry, Flim, that's what I was going on from the instructions. The industrial springs site listed on page 2. Did not realize mcmaster was it's own site. Thanks
  13. Anybody have a place to buy the springs? The site listed in the instructions can't find the part number in their search bar... Thanks.
  14. Very cool. How did you make the framework you have so far? Looks metal or plastic...?
  15. Anybody have one already built in preparation or currently working on one? I'm still in the planning stages but only about a month or two out from cutting (large format CNC at the maker space should be done by then). And for those not aware, http://hornetpits.org/ exists. Lots of good stuff there, 99% geared towards the VRS Superbug, but a friendly community and a place to start. I ask because if anyone has already started I will happily steal the heck out of any ideas you have. :) Sage
  16. So... Finally gave it a go... All I get is the spinning "Waiting for DCS". Running 1.5.2, both programs as admin, Ultra started first... No mods... I searched back through here and saw one other guy with the problem but didn't notice an answer...? Thanks, keep up the good work, Sage
  17. My first build was with Roger Dodger. Very well put together plans for the small price. I modified a couple of things... I did the center stick but put the throttle holder on both sides, so I could use the mouse on it too. I also took out the angle they have the joystick mounted on and just did it straight up and down. Only other advice I would offer is just screw together the parts, don't glue. Even when you think you're happy with it you'll eventually want to make small changes.
  18. Hey all. Sorry to necro here but I just got into the mission building side of things... Does this dug in position work for 1.5/2.0? If not is there a different one out there? Thanks, Sage
  19. virtualarmedforces.com We joined a couple of "squadrons" together. Haven't posted the announcement yet. New webpages are still under construction. We fly on Wed. and Sat. at 7pmMST.
  20. I just found these, so apologies if it's been posted before. It's pretty amazing. :) http://www.shipbucket.com/images.php?dir=Misc%20Drawings/FD%20Scale%20Vehicles/Land%20Vehicles%20-%20Real-life/Organizational%20Charts Sage

  21. I've seen many of your other posts Sokol. I'll take your word on Xpadder. Purchased. Time to start trying to figure it out. :) Thanks much for the advice! Sage
  22. Hey Sokol, thanks for the response... I found another payware, Pinnacle Game Profiler, do you know anything about it vs Xpadder? I downloaded a trial and it seemed to work well....
  23. Update... SVMapper will recognize the Bodnar card when my Thrustmaster Warthog throttle is not plugged in. Plug in the throttle no matter what port refresh SVMapper and the Leo card goes away... Does SVMapper have a device limit? --EDIT-- Jesus, that took a lot of googeling. Appears there is a limit to SVMapper and all the other things beat out the Bodnar. Pain in the butt.
  24. Hey all, I have a Leo Bodnar board. I hooked a SPST gear toggle up to it (not my first choice of switch type but it's what was on there when I bought it). Anyway I ran SVMapper to have it send the G command for on and off. Worked great.... for a day. Suddenly SVMapper won't see the Bodnar board... Windows sees it as a joystic just fine. I swear I made no changes to the computer from working to not working... Windows 7. Any thoughts, to include a different program (that is just as easy) as SVMapper? Thanks, and Happy New Year. Sage
