Bucic, yes, this. I think it's easy for someone like me who plays this as a hobby but whose career has nothing to do with computers, except typing on them for reports , to forget just how small these gaming / simulator companies are. I only peripherally paid attention to the World War II Kickstarter drama. But with that part added in and all of these other things going on I do have to wonder, as an outsider looking in, if ED spread themselves a little thin. I think that is the direction change I personally am hoping to see from ED. After 2.5 and the World War 2 stuff and the 18 c finally do make it to the market. I really hope they can then Focus their efforts on the core gameplay / Mission editor / future Maps / AI Improvement / always-popular on these forums Dynamic campaign, etc. There are so many really great third-party companies now to make the planes. I'm definitely on the side of those who talked about Ed getting out of the plane business and focusing on all the stuff above. With the funky business model of DCS World being free I can see why they needed to do this other stuff to keep money coming in. However, now we have almost moved beyond DCS World being free. Each map is now a revenue source so maybe in the future they can go smaller with their efforts and still make direct money versus percentage of the third party planes.

Yeah, I saw a post from Zeus mentioning they needed to get around to updating it. That's why I decided to ask on here. Even Chucks guide and most YouTube tutorials are out of date at this point since Razbam has been so busy/quick on the updates.

Awesome stuff. Thanks much. Ideas I have aplenty, making them look cool is the tough part for me. ;) I don't think I have seen an infinite ammo option for ground units, but that would help now that I think about it.... hmmm have to check the scripts wiki....

Thanks for the quick answers Azrayen!

Quick couple of questions. I was looking in the manual but did not see this maybe I missed it. The two numbers with a backslash between them in the lower left of the display is that the bullseye location of the TDC? It seems like it should be but the numbers did not appear to match where I thought I was in relation to the bullseye. Second question I see the asmuth bar move up and down when I use my slider. Is there somewhere on the screen that tells me the altitudes that the radar is now scanning similar to the F-15 or do I just have to guesstimate with rough math based on the size of the cone and current altitude? Last thing, the four momentary toggles on each side of the display are they all functional now? Thanks for any responses guys sorry if this is something else a lot I was just thinking about it and I'm driving on a road trip so can't really search right now. Razbam, I was a pre purchaser and one of the haters oh my God this thing sucks nothing works blah blah blah. Wow you guys have come a long way I'm having a lot of fun in the plane great work. Thanks again, Sage

Yeah, it's broke in 1.5. Best guess is whatever they're doing to it for the merge has it broke now, so why fix until 2.5 when it will fix itself.
-
So Matador's new project is pretty cool. No one else have any methods they use that they're proud of and I can steal? :)
-
Yep, F10 still broke. Even if it wasn't it pulls you back into the hanger. When the fix finally comes it would be sweet if the F10 map could somehow be displayed like the briefing screen is, just off the nose of the plane. Best bet is to make PDF's of the areas you need very zoomed in then drop them in kneeboard builder as individual pages. Have to flip the pages a lot but you'd at least be able to read them. Heck, real world you fold the map to just the part you need so not much different. :)

Okay I was using someone else's Mission maybe they had to tips on when they created it I'll double-check thanks. PD was set at 2.0 the same as I have it in 1.5. It's very possible it was just in our head about the outside stuff and maybe the English cockpit mod textures don't like 2.0 as much as they do 1.5 I don't know
-
My Oculus... Every time Oculus home starts I get a message that it can't find my sensor, but it does find my sensor and everything works... funky. So I flew 2.0 last night for the first time in forever.... Does anyone else think it looks "worse" than 1.5 currently? All my settings appeared to be the same as 1.5 but everything just seemed to be at a lower resolution than 1.5. Cockpit markings in the Mirage (English cockpit mod) I can read on 1.5 were not legible in 2.0, and the outside world seemed just less clear too... I would say it's just in my head but my virtual squadron mate who uses the Rift felt the same way.... Lastly, does anyone know how the hell to turn off the tooltips in the Mirage on 2.0? We both had the box unchecked but both had the stinking tooltips. Known bug I've missed? Sage

Thanks for that acknowledgement. Sith, the other post of yours mentions the "hype." That's kind of what I was talking about in my earlier ramblings. I personally don't feel ED purposefully generates this evil "hype" we all talk about. Hell, 90% of the time I don't think it comes from the company at all. But, the hype monster is real. I think the community mob tends to blame ED for generating it when it's actually just the mob feeding on itself. That's where the community goes wrong and needs to chill the eff out. On the other side, I think the more information ED can release through yourself and the others in your position actually can decrease this dreaded hype. Look at the 18C chit chat thread. It's really taken a turn for the better since you were allowed to "leak" all those little tidbits. Gives all us fans of the sim/plane something concrete to chat about instead of inventing our own hype based on stuff in the background of a live stream, or a dev's avatar, etc. Very small bits of information, but -real- information, and all the sudden a majority of the "but when's it coming out" posts on that thread are gone and all you see on there is fun discussion and speculation about those little official tidbits. So like I said. Personal opinion from watching the forums (of course not as much as the mods) seems to be that more information, (information not necessarily dates) leads to -less- "hype." Lastly, awesome work community and ED volunteers keeping this thread civil. I've been enjoying the reading. Don't let it turn to the Dark Side, keep it up. (No pun intended Sith :smartass:)

Oh yeah. I remember seeing your post about that. LOL over a hundred pages in this thread now... forgot about it. Darn, thought I was being all smart and original. :) :) It is a cool idea though, the live ATIS. We run pretty small missions, but for the large stuff like the 132nd does, that would be pretty neat. I just can't say enough how amazed I am at this program. Ciribob, you should sign a whole bunch of weird Russian paperwork and sell this thing to ED for official integration into DCSW. :greedy:  Never mind, what am I thinking, then it would go away and not be implemented until 2019 (:music_whistling::D:D:D -Text only medium Disclaimer-The previous comments were 100% a joke) Only two hold outs to go then our entire Squadron will be up and running on SRS. Good times.

Missing the point of what I was saying. It's the internet and again, only game in town. There was a metric ton of chatter all over the place leading up to that press event. Thrustmaster made a stick for the A-10C, only natural to think/hope/dream/ whatever you want to call it, that when they have a major product release event for flight sim sticks, on a carrier, that... oh boy here comes the 18C stick... and if they're announcing that, that must mean ED is about to release the 18C. Couple that with ED finally mentioning some things about the 18C right around then, and just a few months back the Cortex thing. And, I'm sorry, but the mob got it's hopes up. Heck, Mudspike, or 476th, were live tweeting during it. Then, boom, crash bang. Turns out it was all hype (mob generated, feeding on itself). So what happens then...? Complaining, griping, looking for reasons why the fan made hype ended up not being real hype... And so, it continues, never seemed to lose momentum after that. I -know- ED's official position on the Cortex thing. Like I said earlier, it didn't matter. I was referencing that as something else that folks excited about the 18C were using to build hope that it was coming soon. I'm not arguing any points by the way. Just giving my opinion on why -I- -think- this little online community appears to have gotten a little rowdier than "the norm"

I had not seen that one. Bookmarking that bad boy. Thanks.

Sorry, skimming this on my phone... but I've been wondering how to make ai aircraft "dumber". What I mean is for a mission where players are tasked with taking out an enemy awacs... always wanted the enemy ai planes to go from excellent to poor if the players are successful. Never thought about changing the engage conditions. Seems like that might do it. Glad I stumbled across this.

I have a very simple one. I will upload it when I get home. Edit: just noticed how old this post was... still need one?

So with GCI/CAP and various other triggers I can make the air part of my missions feel pretty fluid. What I suck at is setting up decent ground battles. I have plenty of knowledge on unit sizes/composition and RW tactics, but getting it to look/feel cool in game is just not happening the way I would like. Looking for what works for others. What mission editor cheats (setting groups invulnerable that kind of thing ) or other things you all do to get a decent realistic battle going on and not just striking convoys or static units? If you use scripts awesome, can you link and say what they do? I couldn't script my way out of a wet paper bag, but I can sure as heck make a do script file trigger. ; ) Thanks for any ideas you are willing to give.

Hmm.. I wonder.. Could you do this with virtual audio cable? Have a client with the mic input being VAC which is playing an ATIS .wav or something on a loop... Can you have multiple SRS client programs open on the same computer? If not, on a separate computer still seems like it could work with VAC... No sure about the PTT part how to get round that... Just spitballing....

Ciribob, I have been following simple radio since you first announced it but have not been able to use it until last night. Holy crap man amazing work. And a great name choice for the program. It literally took three minutes to set each guy in my group up to use it. Just wanted to give you a big thanks for taking the time to make this. It's a game changer.

Carrier/Navy version of any helo and I'm on board. With all the new Naval planes and carriers seems like a natural follow on....

Has the size/location of the Europe map been hinted at?
