The auto updater will update all the various modules that you have purchased. Oops, you need to at v1.2.1 for the auto updater. You will need to download the entire set of 1.2.2 files.

Realistic route to target distances
Speedbrake replied to Megagoth1702's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
That really depends on how close to the FEBA your base is if you are taking off at the start of the mission. If you are in the air at the start, it is a different story. Personally I don;t see a problem with a target that is about 15-20 minutes away from a runway start. The simulation world has to be a condensed arenna. -
The F-16 works that way too...no gauge. Get a feel for it on the ground and count seconds for the approximate position you want them to be extended.
-
What HOTAS are you using? Did you check the controls page options to see if they are still set for what you want? I'm running with the A-10C HOTAS and the update did NOT affect my settings. My trim works fine.

World 1.2.2 over 1.2.0.........
Speedbrake replied to cadete2000's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
If you overinstall you are going to "screw the pooch". Do the uninstall and then install. You will need to check your options and control settings but if you took screenshots of your settings before uninstalling, it will be easy. After than, the auto updater will bring you up to date on any more addons that might happen after v1.2.2. -
Still Holding Out I'm still hoping that EDs next study aircraft is the F/A-18 as my Jane's F/A-18 simulation won't play on my current system and A-10C HOTAS. I want the carrier ops and AGM-88 Harm missile capability. Besides Wags worked on the Jane's simulation so maybe he has a sweet spot in his heart to "do it right"! LOL! :pilotfly:

I think only if you renamed the DCS saved game folder before the upgrade. I don't think it can be imported because I believe the .lua has been changed (not sure). However, if you have the old one, you can see what the various values are for flight time, kills, etc. and edit the new one in C++ editor to give your your values. Again, this is only an opinion.

Thanks c0ff for the quick reply.

Auto Updates I can't believe how fast updates are being made to the DCS World programs since the new autoupdate feature. I'm already to 1.2.1_6192. It sure beats waiting months to get some things corrected. Thanks ED. On another note, when new versions of the program came out (pre-autoupdate) I always downloaded them and burned them to a DVD(s). With autoupdate it is not possible to hardcopy the latest version. Is ED still going to update the basic "bulk" software to the latest version once things settle down?

v1.2.1 and follow-on to v1.2.1-6148 I've noticed that the radio menu appears when the minimum altitude (altitude, altitude) callout occurs. This didn't happen in v1.2.0. Is this a possible bug? I'm using easy communication. Also this is in A-10C during landing on final approach.

Auto Update??? Whenever ED updates DCS World or it's modules I burn the updates to a DVD(s) after I'm sure they installed correctly. With auto update is there a way to back up each update? I realize that this might save a great deal of time and effort. Does that mean the there will now longer be total program updates that can be backed up on one's computer, harddrive or USB drive?

Very interesting and useful....THANKS!

Logbook is not being updated.
Speedbrake replied to RazorbackNL's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
No, the logbook should be recording. However, I'm not sure it records time for the training missions. It's been too long since I've used a training mission. Try a user created mission or one you created. I'm also using DCS World v1.2.0 and it records the missions I fly. -
The hotfix was for the voice instructions. As for the spacebar, you might try waiting a few seconds after the instructions before hitting the space bar. It does work, at least for me on DCS World v1.2.0.

There is a hotfix file to solve this problem. Search the forum or go to the user created files and download. Here it is: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=91666

TrackIr not working in any DCS program
Speedbrake replied to wiiired's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
In the titles section of TrackIR it should show DCS A-10C and Black Shark. You can't run BS1 out of DCS World; you have to have Black Shark 2 and even then you have to download the v1.2.0 of it for it to function out of DCS World. However, I would expect you to be able to run TrackIR out of BS1 when BS1 is run separately. BS2 is a separete purchase but the upgrade to v1.2.0 for DCS World is free. It should also run A-10C as a separate program. I'm not assuming from your post that you do not have DCS World. -
TrackIr not working in any DCS program
Speedbrake replied to wiiired's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
With TrackIR running, under the Options/Control you should see a column for TrackIR you may have to use the bottom scroll bar to slide the screen to the right.. Are you getting any light on the unit? Green on the top and when in the simulation blue on the bottom. -
TrackIr not working in any DCS program
Speedbrake replied to wiiired's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Turn on you TrackIR and then go into DCS World under Options and look at the control section. IF the program is seeing it, there should be a column associated with it like your stick, throttle and rudder pedals (if you have all these). Also be sure you have updated your program section of TrackIR and also have the most current software for it. -
Hotfix for Ka-50 and Su-25T training missions. http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/206863/

+1 I agree the nwer DC World radio command font is not as readable as the older A-10C or BS2 font. I hope they go back to the older style.
-
Keyboard command for brakes is "W". It you quick click it it turns on the brakes which will slow the aircraft. If you hold it down the plane will stop quicker.
-
Just want to be sure. For the DC World v1.2.0 you have to download separately the training files for the Su-25T and Ka-50 from the downloads section and install them, i.e. the training for those two are not part of the module download. Also you have to apply the hotfix. Is that correct?

If I understand you correctly, you can take a screenshot of the map. Then in a graphics program or Paint, you can size the map or picture. I believe the correct size is 512 x 512. Save it as a jpg or png photo and then place it in the missions folder. At the top of the briefing insert in the mission editor you click on "+" and indicate on the follow screen where that photo is. It should show up in your briefing on the left side panel.

Here is another story. I loaded up DCS World and the P-51D about five days ago. I've pretty much got takeoff down and landings are coming along although there is still a slight tendency to catch a ground loop slowing down. Now touch and go with flaps are totally another thing...I've got a lot of work to do there. However on my first flight I went up to about 8,000 feet and put the plane into an intentional spin. It was so realistic!!! I used to spin all the time when instructing in the USAF T-37. I recovered after letting it spin several rotations but not before it entered a reverse spin. It felt great!!! The fight model in this aircraft is a thing of beauty. Thaks ED!

I assume that you can replace the P-51D, or any other wallpaper, on the DCS World screen....but what folder do you put it in? :helpsmilie:
