We all love DCS. Even the most "negative" of the bunch. DCS is a hobby, a passion, a sim and a game. Some of the most passionate enthusiast have very high expectations, since they put so much of their own time, passion and money into the sim. They post because they care about DCS too much and challenge ED to keep up their A game. As long as constructive discussions, I rather see healthy critisicm than people not caring at all.

MiG29 pilot model might be in progress since we have it for Su-25, Su-27 and Su-33 cockpits. Just put the russian pilot model in there... More pilot details would be nice, but I rather have more animated switches in cockpit, working CM counter (really handy) and if possible, a helmet sight that has symbology like the real thing. Many wishes for this great aircraft :)

The MFD looks like MFI-55. Same avionics that Deka Ironworks is looking into for their J-11A upgrade. MiG-29S has been upgraded in different stages and variants. There is a video here on the forum on testing the MiG-29S with radar upgrade to launch the R77. That is probably closest to the variant we have in DCS. Edit. Found the thread with video. Rare stuff, enjoy! https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=220071

New MiG-29A, G and S variant diffrences ?
Schmidtfire replied to Satarosa's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
Should be quite easy to test difference of radar. MiG29 A and G should not have the TWS2 mode. That is for upgraded radar on the MiG29S, allowing it to fire two R-77 at two different targets. The MiG29S radar might also have a bit better range. The most distinct differences is more fuel and ECM on the S version, along with R77 capability. Some more options in the ground attack department aswell. -
How to change Repeater display to MAP display?
Schmidtfire replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
Correct. MiG29 only has a HUD repeater. Later and more advanced/upgraded versions has other displays with functionality like datalink etc. -
They put the wing-tanks on so that the MiG-29G could do ferry flights. It was not meant to be for a "combat" loadout. Polish Air Force still use the MiG-29G/GT for air policeing and other tasks. Usually loaded with 2-4 R60MK IR missiles. No need to haul and stress more expensive R27 or R73 missiles on those kind of missions. When the MiG29G came to be, the wall was gone. Soviet union was gone. Putting on extra tanks and make it NATO compliant made a lot of sense from a training perspective. Ofcourse MiG29G was also used in a air defence role, but that was not the reason it was modified to carry wing-tanks.

There will be no FC4. But wait for Modern Air Combat (MAC). Should be released quite soon I think. You will get a very large pack of planes (non clickable) Modern Air Combat A-10A Su-25 MiG29 (A/G/S) Su-27 Su-33 F-15C L39 F86F MiG15 F5E MiG21bis I might have missed something, but it will be a very good pack. Basicly it is current Flaming Cliffs 3 pack but with an additional set of modules. ED has converted a bunch of their high end modules to the more accessible Flaming Cliffs non-clickable standard. If you really enjoy one of those modules you can buy them later as fully clickable and high fidelity

Great work! Hope to see this integrated into core DCS
-
It would be great if the presets could be changed from the rearm menu on ground instead of mission editor. But I guess that is a DCS limitation? Anyways, looking good! :)
-
Please send this to ED, way to good to be a mod :)

Thanks! That was the info I was looking for :)

 That was not the question. How do I find the laser spot that is being designated? Can the LMAV find the laser spot on it's own, or do we need other tech like LSS on a pod to be able to properly pick up the laser signal to lock-on and use the LMAV?
-
Quick question: Since AGM-65E is close to release.... How will one go about finding lased targets without a pod to pick upp the laser spot? Will the LMAV it be shipped with some additional LSS tech (like a pod) to pick up targets, or can the LMAV be used by "itself" by pointing the nose in the general direction where the laser spot is expected to be?

Will server hosts be able to "ban" JESTER in MP?
Schmidtfire replied to QuiGon's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Or just don't host a server if a Jester AI is such an issue? Heatblurs module, Heatblurs rules... -
Will server hosts be able to "ban" JESTER in MP?
Schmidtfire replied to QuiGon's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Im sure that managing Jester properly will be a skill of it's own. People are way overobsessing about PvP and balance. -
Great status posts Zeus67! Very detailed and easy to read :)

Well... It should be prioritized. What is more important than the core product running all other products? Two other flight simulators (won't mention names) has already been ported to Vulcan. The boost in performance is fantastic. Ever since DCS 2.5 came along a lot of people are struggeling with performance, moving DCS to Vulcan is necessary to keep framerates up and players happy. Wags post about it a while back sounded very hopeful. Hope that we soon get some news on the move to Vulcan.

I don't think they will update but I'll throw in a +1. Would be awesome to have it more like the real system. Also, IR/Launch Authorized audio-tone would be nice aswell.

Female Tanker voice beta
Schmidtfire replied to BoneDust's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Can't wait to try this mod! Is it possible to upload the mod as non exe file? Not a big fan of running exe files from unknown developers :) -
+1 It's been a while since the last update. Seems like it was fairly close then and the FM was in testing then. Kindly update us a bit on the current progress =)
-
+1, I think I've already posted this request some time ago. Not just for MiG-29, but for all FC3/MAC type aircrafts. Current NAV systems are not useful unless waypoits are already saved in mission editor. With growing multiplayer, dynamic type of missions etc... being able to edit waypoints on the ground would be VERY helpful. Either through F10 or by Ground Crew menu.

Love the new PFM! Make sure that you have set curves on your joysticks. I have a Thrustmaster Warthog, 75mm extension. With that extension, curves set at 20 is really nice. You obviously need to go a lot higher without extension. So keep adding to those curvatures. Remember the throw of IRL Mig-29 stick is fairly big. The control system is not very nice, even compared to older western fighters like the Phantom. Makes for a very interesting challenge on such a high performance fighter. Will take a lot of practice and skill to use it's fully potential in a dogfight :joystick:

EKRAN is implemented... good stuff!

Mig-29 updated cockpit looks weird
Schmidtfire replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
Doing some more tests on the cockpit textures. Might be that the new textures are a bit sensitive to light and gamma? They look good flying through clouds or with instrument lighting on. But in direct sunlight they get this flat white-ish look. Also, HUD is still a bit messy. Otherwise, great update. Loving it so far :) -
Mig-29 updated cockpit looks weird
Schmidtfire replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
It is probably a bug of some sorts. NineLine's cockpit looks different. We are not looking at the same thing. NineLine, would you post a zip of your textures so we can see if it differs in game?
