Vibora, regarding Sea Eagle. If I can see enemy ship visually, can I point missile towards ship and launch? Is it possible to launch Sea Eagle without create a waypoint/target in mission editor?
-
From a realism point. Missile is programmed on ground before takeoff since the C-101CC does not have a system interface to transfer data to the missile when flying. I like your idea.... But there are other flaws. Player can not dynamically switch between front and rear seats in multiplayer. So if player is flying C-101CC solo in multiplayer - player can not program the missile as he is in front seat only.

Looking forward to try the CC version! (and EFM ofcourse) :) Are there any training missions or quickstart guides to get familiar with the weapon systems of the C-101CC?

Desync when switching controls in MP
Schmidtfire replied to Justin Case's topic in Bugs and Problems
Desync within DCS World is an ongoing issue, not just with the L39. Other issues includes desync in external views where sometimes gear up/down is not synced between clients, invisible parts , aircraft that taxi without gear etc. Also from time to time clients become totally invisible in multiplayer! From what I heard, avoid pausing in mp sessions as it may cause desync. Let's hope that introduction of dedicated servers resolve some of the desync issues. -
L-39 can dismount sight on the C version only, not the light attack ZA. So quite similar: The C-101EB has clear front without a sight. CC "light attack" version has a mounted sight. No need for further options as you can fly C-101 with or without a sight, just like L39.

Trying to tweak out right performance out of rift
Schmidtfire replied to Jyge's topic in Virtual Reality
No. It is the 4xMSAA and High. visibility that kills his FPS. While Flat Shadows drains some FPS, it is nothing compared to the other two. 1.4 PD on The Odyssey plus and 4xMSAA and Visib. High is just asking for trouble. Anisotropic filtering you can go to at least 8x. It does not drain much FPS at all. Try go Shadows High (not terrain object shadows) as it will put more strain on your GPU. Balance CPU and GPU workload. Johnic, I think you should follow. my guide in this thread - but adjust the PD to your liking since you have the Samsung Odessey plus vr. -
Trying to tweak out right performance out of rift
Schmidtfire replied to Jyge's topic in Virtual Reality
For me it is about finding a nice balance between the CPU and GPU load while retaining a good image and high framerates. I have tried so many ways optimizing for VR and finally found a great balance! Schmidtfire's mini-guide: Select the VR preset It will be a great starting point. Then go: Textures: Medium Terrain Textures: High Civ. Traffic Low Water: High Visib. Range: Medium Heat Blur: Off Shadows: High Res. of cockpit displays: 1024 MSAA: OFF Depth of field: OFF Lens Effects: None Motion Blur: OFF SSAA: OFF Clutter/Grass: 750 Trees Visibility: 50% Preload Radius: 100000 Chimney Smoke Density: 0 Gamma: 1.6 Anisotropic Filtering: 8x Terrain Object Shadows: Off Cockpit Global Illumination: Off Rain droplets: ON Full Screen: ON VR TAB: PD: 1.6 SET IPD adjustments as desired. I have 61 or 62 (can't remember now) Do mind that this is on an older i7 @ 4Ghz and 1080TI. But should be a solid start. Rule of thumb: Keep the MSAA Off and up the PD instead. So for it has been a buttersmooth experience in multiplayer. Good luck and happy tweaking :) -
Fun speculation :) Swedish HKP-9 (also known as Bo-105) The project was picked up by a 3rd party as a joint-venture. Maybe Heatblur? 1: It is Swedish. 2: It fits great with the AJS-37 Viggen. 3: One of the SME's is Swedish with ties to the Viggen dev crowd.

Obviously, Heatblur knows if Tomcat will be released within a week from now or if they still got a month or two worth of development before hitting Early Access. This is just the usual "cloak and daggers" dev routine. Keep the hypetrain going strong and release-dates loose, if it starts to derail on the forums - throw in a screenshot or in worst case scenario - a video. And at the last minute, throw in an apology that states it will take a bit more time, but will be worth it. Pretty much the story of every module released  Totally understand that some gets frustrated by this "foggy" approach, especially during pre-sale. But I don't expect more and I don't mind waiting :)

If you only play DCS I cannot recommend getting a VR headset at the moment. ED is working on some kind of VR optimization, but so far we know nothing about this tech or how effective it will be. There are some titles that works really well in VR, but they generally don't have any "legacy" code and are made with VR in mind. I might be a bit picky, but just look at Heatblurs F-14 VR stream. Dropping way below 20-30fps during some parts of the mission. Some might look past the stutter, but flying for 1hr+ with low framerates is very distracting. Not to mention you already sacrificed a lot of visuals to even get an acceptable framerate. My recommendation is to wait and see what 2019 will bring in terms of DCS and VR.

Dear Eagle Dynamics team. It is difficult to view instruments in cockpit when wearing NVG's. In real life you can "peek" under the NVG's to read instruments, displays and gauges. Please use your new JHCMS technology (developed for F/A-18C) but for implementing auto-adjusting NVG's. Example. Player takes a look at MFD or instruments. As player View moves down (Y axis) - NVG's moves up. Giving a much clearer view and imitating a "peek" under. Simple and elegant. The adjustable movement obviously needs boundaries as you don't want to "push up" the NVG's when looking out down the sides of the cockpit. Anyways, please consider. Will make night operations a lot more enjoyable :)

+1. What is going on? It's been really quiet for a while... I still do no regret I got this module all those years ago, but regular updates on progress are expected. A few months ago there was a lot of activity and videos, but now nothing?

Dealing with the Data Cartridge over multiple strikes
Schmidtfire replied to Schmidtfire's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Thanks! Seems like I have forgotten a LOT about the Viggen systems since the F/A-18C release... so I picked up the manual again. Since the CK37 is a bit crude in it's representation, it does not hurt to study it a bit more carefully :) -
Im trying to get a grip on the Data Cartridge and waypoints on the F10 MAP. Quite easy and a great system! But I have a few questions. After my first "mission" I land at base and rearm for an attack on another target location. What is the correct procedure for inserting a new data cartridge? With engine still running, should I just pull the old one out and insert and load the new cartridge? Do I need to clear the CK37 before that? When I load the new one in, it often looks like I have 2km of drift. (REF LOLA display last digit as a 2) Pretty sure I am doing something wrong or missing a step. Hitting the reference button when Im lined up on the runway does not seem to help either... and there is no take-off symbology in the HUD.

** UPDATE: Ground Radar 2.0 & Multiplayer Flight Planning **
Schmidtfire replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Im still having a bit of trouble. I can sort of make out details like roads, but that is only when Im very close. Is there a recommended altitude/speed/gain/elevation setting for optimal radar clarity? -
** UPDATE: Ground Radar 2.0 & Multiplayer Flight Planning **
Schmidtfire replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Wow! Lets hope radar 2.0 made it into the update. Anyone that can confirm? -
You don't. Grass airfields are WIP.
-
FFS! The original question was answered on the first page of this derailed thread. It was a small team with MiG-19 and MiG-23 plans that got picked up by Razbam. Much like the Viggen-team got picked up by Heatblur. Passion for the aircraft, avalible documentation, skill and likelyhood of finishing are probably all contributing facrors to "why?". Not every module can be a broad audience "blockbuster" like the Hornet or Tomcat. DCS community have different tastes and Im sure that MiG-19 will find it's audience. More Redfor jets are more than welcome.

Stay stronk!

The weight difference is almost 200 lb between D and F model. AGM-65E would be a better comparison. AGM-65F is a D seeker combined with the E body and warhead. The AGM-65E version is around 30 lb lighter than the AGM-65F. Otherwise same body, warhead and propulsion.

Maybe not as interesting as the first video, but here is another view of the P-3C Orion AGM-65F shot. @Pikey - I counted to approx 20sec flight time from launch to impact. Launch at 0:50 and impact at 1:11.
-
Here is a video of a P-3C Orion launching the AGM-65F. At around 2:15 into the video we can see what happens to the seeker symbology as the missile uncages. Very cool :)

Will there be a hotfix on friday? Or another Open Beta release next week? Thanks

Text on that picture seems wrong. Im quite sure that Air-Air Weapon select FWD selects Sparrows and not Amraam IRL. Amraam is Air-Air Weeapon select RIGHT if I remember correctly.
