  1. I have not heard anything of this. From what I know, they hope to make the Lantirn pod, but no rework of the current Litening (not enough data).
  2. Keep in mind that the Germany map has a highly detailed and varied terrain mesh, with small slopes and inclines everywhere. Have you tested George over flat water in the north part of the Germany map? Obviously George should function properly over land, but it might get us a clue if it's a reaction to an object or something in the terrain mesh.
  3. It's not only about AI flying the tables perfectly. The AI SFM is simplified compared to a PFM. Perfect AI table flying + SFM = UFO result. It all adds up, making the end result unrealistic. And this not only goes for the AI MiG-15bis, it's a global shortcoming within limitations of the AI in DCS World. The many players that has complained about this issue for over 10 years are not wrong. Hopefully ED will resolve a lot of these shortcomings with the upcoming GFM model. And while I admire the investigative enthusiasm, I can't help but think this might be the Dunning-Kruger effect at work.
  4. I have a track but it's about 92mb, so a bit on the larger side If it happened at a lower altitude I could understand why this happened... but Co-Alt in the high 20's, head-on, is not a valid position? Sounds strange. But as I stated it might also be a Server (4YA) or a Jester+Server issue. I did notice some rubber-banding going on. Coming to think of it, I have also flown with all the WIP Special Options for performance. If that can introduce some issues? Interesting question. I'd expect Jester to perform better than 99% of DCS players. He's supposed to be a trained WSO. But yes, under those conditions I would expect better performance from a human player. Anyways, thanks for the tips and answer. If it continue to happen I will try to post a shorter track (unless you want to go through the 92mb behemoth of a track that also includes some nice Mirage F1 engagements).
  5. You can show numbers and charts all day long, but the outcome within DCS World is all that matters. AI SFM numbers needs to be offset from reality in order to create something that is closer to "real" performance. DCS developers (in my opinion) sometimes has a tendency to put the diagrams above everything else... ...and everything is good if the math is correct - even if the final result is far from reality.
  6. I have at least two sorties where Jester didn't spot the incoming AI contacts at all (Germany map, co-alt about 28000 feet). But it was multiplayer and there might have been something funky going on with the server. I will try not be co-alt and see if it helps. Perhaps I should position myself significantly lower and ask Jester to elevate the radar? The most frustrating part for me is seeing the incoming contrails, hearing the AWACS call, seeing the RWR indications and Jester pretty much stays quiet into the merge I might also have overestimated the radar performance a bit. Seems like it sits between the Cyrano IV on the Mirage F1 and the AN/APQ-159 on the F-5E Tiger II. Boresight is probably a better way to go under many day conditions.
  7. Jester seems to have a LOT of issues with finding contacts on radar. But IF he's very lucky, it's still very difficult for him to lock up and keep bandits locked. This is at high altitudes (25000 feet, hot) and in clear sky. Perfect conditions. Several times, I could see how Jester fiddled around with the radar but he still couldn't get a lock, even though I could visibly see their contrails and clearly see the contacts on the display in the front seat. Is it possible to perform reliable BVR when flying Solo with Jester? Like asking Jester to operate radar differently etc.
  8. It seems that Aerges completely changed the file structure for the cockpit and indication textures. I tried to install the English cockpit mod (to get optimized 4K textures) and it was also a no-go.
  9. Caucasus just has a very good layout for a multiplayer map. With that perfect coastline running from north to south and high mountains in the middle. Airfields are well placed and within practical distances too. That's why players are still on the map (in multiplayer).
  10. At the end of the day, it's about offering a MiG-29 experience. Options to use the ER, ET and even R-77(!) would be good things. With only 1 variant and full asking price of $79.99 USD, it's important to be somewhat flexible to the audience needs. Everyone benefits from DCS: MiG-29 Fulcrum module being a successful module. I'm not advocating going full fantasy or anything, but adding a few more "plausible" loadout options to appeal to a broader audience will sell more modules. It also give more options to create more modern "what if" scenarios. As long as there is transparency what weapons has been added as "ED version", I can't see any downsides to it...
  11. It's your money. But there might be other things that could offer a better allround flying experience than a dedicated F/A-18 grip. The Thrustmaster Warthog product is about 15 years old now and there are some tricks to have a better time with it. Thrustmaster Warthog improvement list: *Stick Extension - for higher precision *Nyogel 767a - lubricant *Delta Sim Electronics - Analog slew button replacement (unless your Warthog throttle has a late serial) Other hardware: *Headtracker *Rudder pedals
  12. Use the Layers Filter to declutter the map and select what symbols to display:
  13. Twelve years of development and it reads like it might still be a year or two left on the journey to release... Hats off for the persistence and not giving up. Very impressed by the level of simulation of the Bo-105 you are trying to achieve
  14. If this former MiG-29 pilot is to believed, the weapons computer on the Luftwaffe MiG-29 (9.12) would accept the ER and display the expanded WEZ. They put different simulator-plugs/data cards on the inboard missile rails to simulate both the 27R and 27ER.
  15. Poor performance compared to what? I'm sure it will hold it's own against most Cold War aircraft currently in DCS.
  16. Looks great, but no rush when there is no release date
  17. S-21 was very much a real thing. In the video below you can see it briefly when a MiG-17 taxi past camera at the 0:25 seconds mark. Again in the air at 0:40. Launches of the S-21 are also shown.
  18. Polish Lim-5/6 could be armed with 57mm S-5 rocket pods or bombs, so that would be nice as options now that we have a new map for the MiG-17F. Never heard about any S-24 capability. Sounds cool, but needs to be verified.
  19. sdef_and_wave_list.txt can be found in the following directory: DCS World OpenBeta\Doc\Sounds\ It's a complete list of all necessary sounds + examples and a readme for "how to mod". But since the sounds of AV8BNA is unencrypted you can find all necessary sound and sdef files in DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\AV8BNA\Sounds
  20. Early F-16A would be awesome. But unlikely coming from ED as they usually have little interest to model older stuff.
  21. There are currently issues with the RSBN on the Germany map: This is most likely not an ED/core issue an should probably be highlighted in the Magnitude 3 and Ugra Media sections.
  22. A bit of a stretch but I think the following should also be added: F7 Såtenäs, ESIB Hasslösa flygbas, ESFH Råda flygbas, ESFR
  23. To be fair, Heatblur is doing worse. The AJS-37 Viggen was released January 2017 and is still in Early Access
  24. I found this very interesting study. Maps complete with SAM placement and coverage rings. DDR Strategic Air Defense: A Cold War Case Study https://geimint.blogspot.com/2008/08/ddr-air-defense-cold-war-case-study.html
