I was thinking about making a Nam campaign, but as the embarkation function works again I had to try it out on the Mi-8. And I couldn't just make a collect-them-drop-them mission, I had to put in some bells and whistles as well. Ahem, one thing led to the other...now I'm thinking about making a russian campaign for the Mi-8 instead of a Nam campaign. The Mi-8 is the only aircraft I have that I have NOT made anything for :joystick: Well well...

Alright! :thumbup: And don't hesitate to call out if there's anything you can't get your head around. It's one thing to make missions for yourself and a totally different thing to get other people to understand your logic...or lack thereof ;)

Yeah it's based on my previous Mig-15 campaign. I was initially hesitant about releasing this but having tinkered with all the missions and tested them to the best of my abilities, I can say this campaign is quite fun in the Mig-21. Well, I had fun at least :joystick: You'll find it in the user files section.

Right on! And from a real pilot!

First time I took off with the Sabre I felt like a kid again. Having only flown the Huey and the Mustang before in DCS, this "modern" Sabre was just plain awesome! What power, what a cool cockpit, what a great feel to fly! And guess what? I still feel that way, every damn time I "strap in". But of course I'm not a real pilot, so who am I to give testimony or credible feedback on the characteristics or realism? All I can say I feel happier than when I was flying the F/A-18 Interceptor on my Amiga back in 80s. And that means a lot. It's like "hey I'm really flying this thing...let's do something stupid :)". I flew the IL-2 series for a short while when it came out but I never got that feel from any of the airplanes. DCS on the other hand has awoken the slumbering "kid" again and the Sabre has it's fair share of that "reboot" or "wakeup". Looking back at what I just wrote I see no facts or figures, no convincing technical theories or whatever. All I have is passion for flying and if you've got that - you sure as hell are gonna enjoy the Sabre.

WHAT WHAT WHAT?! Seriously?! OK, gotta try later on :) Oh, and the Sea Fury is pretty. But I'm really in it for the old jets like the Panther, Vampire and of course the FURY :)

+10 on that, just chuck it out the window. It's really a mess-starter :)

@zaelu: No worries, I get your point. No realism at all though, no funny excitement, no naval operations to be made that way (like a campaign run from a carrier) :( It could be made though if you could spawn on a carrier deck. Just starting a mission in mid air in front of the carrier is too cheesy. See I wanna feel that rubberband effect when I hook up. And have "Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins playing ;) @Darkwolf: Damn straight, there's a bunch of dreamers like us out there who would all love to fly the Fury:joystick:

What I'd really like is to get arrestor hooks on both the Mig-15 and Sabre. I know it's not correct and all that and it shouldn't be offical parts of the modules (=we must respect the purists). But if anyone can make an "arrestor hook and spawn on carrier"-mod...I'd PAY TOP DOLLAR FOR IT. See, I can edit the P-51's lua to have hooks for the AI and be spawnable for both AI and human players on carrier decks AND make carrier missions for other users that require zero modding on their part. But for the Mig-15 and Sabre - no dice :( The thing is, anyone can learn carrier landings with these planes if we got hooks on them. As it is now, it's mostly for...well, "passionate" people ;) But it would add SO much fun to this sim with hooks. As it is now, I can't make any naval missions anyway as neither the Mig or Sabre is carrier-spawnable. But just look at the landings of these two aircraft - it's not impossible to learn, especially if we could "navalize" both aircraft.

Could work :) @utlawal2: But them rounds would hit the ramp or sumtin'...sendin' me to Soviet Court Martial = bullet to the head :) But yeah, it CAN be done during normal circumstances. I don't remember exactly but I think I had the carrier at speed 30kph and wind at 7m/s...carrier going INTO the wind of course ;) @AG-51_Razor: Here's my dumbassin' around ;) EDIT: Carrier speed at 40kph with the Mig-15, 23kph with Mig-21. Then I guess I must have had more wind than 7m/s (that's what I use for the 'Stang). I bet I had 15m/s or something like that.

OK, I just can't do it. Even if I come in with no ammo, it can't be done :helpsmilie: Not unless I try a belly-landing.
