Which link, I can't find any links in the first post?
-
I would temper those expectations a little bit. I know they are working as fast as possible but Mid 2017 starts in 2 days.

Do you guys have a dedicated AcG Normandy server thread? Your Normandy server seems to be the most stable and populated one lately.
-
One small request Eekz. All of the Normandy multiplayer servers so far are basically 12 o clock, completely clear day, Airquake servers. Could you please change the time of day to early morning or early evening? Maybe add a cloud or two? On your mission? The lighting engine really looks fantastic in pretty much every setting except "high noon, clear skies". and yet every server insists on using that setting. So sterile and boring.

Just make the flames like 60% smaller and it's all good. You still get a nice effect and you get to see through the sight too. With that said I have to say I didn't really notice a problem in the 109, I rarely however hold my finger for more than a split second on the trigger. By the time you fire you already usually have to line up for another shot, or pull away.

spitfire on fire!!! DCS v2.1
OnlyforDCS replied to DSSRapidfire's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
DSSRapidfire, the patch reset rudder assist in the options. You need to turn it off again. Also Im pretty sure that if you're cooking your engine, you are not managing your engine temps well enough, can you post a track please? -
spitfire on fire!!! DCS v2.1

What was your airspeed? If you drop below 180 miles an hour, at those settings you will quickly cook your engine. -
@Wags: I have two suggestions to help users (they seemed to help me maintain stable FPS) that you could maybe add to your OP: - Make sure to download the latest Nvidia graphics drivers (obviously if you have an Nvidia card). It seemed to make quite a bit of difference in my case. - When using the graphics control panel manager to set anisotropic filtering and antialiasing, make sure to hit ALT + ENTER to enable true fullscreen, when entering the cockpit. If you don't hit ALT + ENTER, these settings will not override the graphics settings that are set in game. Thanks.

If anything you guys in VR are having it even better. The sun should be BLINDINGLY WHITE when you look directly at it. That's how it is in real life. Also, that's not a WWII helmet.
-
Yes, it is a lot more realistic. There is no way that the sky should darken around the sun like it used to (or it does in picture number 2). The sun in the face shouldn't make you completely blind to everything else unless you are looking directly at it. Sure some tweaks may be necessary but its already miles better than it used to be.

Im tempted to leave it on High, because it simply looks so gorgeous. It also looks pretty good on Medium. Anyways, I don't think it makes much a FPS hit if any at all. Anyone notice?

2.1 First Impressions (I know, it's Alpha) :-)
OnlyforDCS replied to wilbur81's topic in Bugs and Problems
I think the lighting change is absolutely great! It just needs a little bit of tweaking to get it to look just right at different times of day. Im sure ED are aware of that and working on it. In the meantime we can ask our favorite server hosts to host early morning/dusk missions. Im more worried about these performance issues. If it's a matter of installing a new VC++ Redistributuable, then Eagle Dynamics should put that in BOLD PRINT somewhere or even include them with the update. -

Woah, need to try that VC++ redistributable. Maybe I already have it installed but could you post a link please? -
Stuttering FIX (Not related to low FPS, but frequent loads from the harddrive) for all users with 16GB or more memory! Set your virtual memory to OFF on all drives. Try DCS 2.1 Normandy or Nevada. Enjoy stutterfree experience :) There is one drawback. You will need to restart DCS every two or three missions. Otherwise the game will hang on a mission load due to a memory leak I suspect. P.S Fully tested on quick flight mission with the Spitfire over Normandy. My specs are in my signature.

Played for a bit. Like it pretty good. Though it appears some tweaks are going to be necessary to keep decent framerates and for spotting. Im playing with antialiasing off, might try x2 to see if it makes a difference.

Guys are you going to get s server up on Normandy soonish?

Spinning the Spit (and other warbirds)
OnlyforDCS replied to philstyle's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Nice video. Falling leaf technique? Just a quick correction, thats a wheels down landing. Not wheels up. :) (At least that's what it looks like from the external view) -
Did you go to module manager and try to install it through there?
-
Called my wife from work to run the updater for the Alpha version. She says it's running. I love my wife :) Anyway, seems like it's some kind of staggered release according to timezones. (GMT+1 here). Though that should mean the Aussies and Kiwis should have gotten it yesterday...and they didnt. So Im probably wrong :)
-
Happy Friday! Please Eagle Dynamics, release the patch/map within the next two hours. So I can let it download while Im at work :)
-
Im sure that ED is working on something. We are not going to hear what exactly until it is close to release. To avoid the F18 situation. However I think that "something" is not a Russian active service jet.

Spinning the Spit (and other warbirds)
OnlyforDCS replied to philstyle's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Just a thought, but maybe just maybe the proper procedure is stated since it is the fastest way to correct for the spin. Fastest == Safest. Man I hope I get some time to play with the Spit tomorrow. Long day at work today. :( *sniped by Art-J :) (tired and still got a long day ahead of me) -

Yes very nice. Will try and do some inverted spins and try to record them when I get the time. Hopefully over Normandy :) -

OnlyforDCS replied to philstyle's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
No worries. I might be doing things wrong or incorrectly interpreting whether Im in a developed spin at all, so it's not like it wouldn't have value. If I find the time Ill and try and record a video using Nvidia's shadowplay. Need to set it up first, I can choose the drive and folder it outputs to right? -

I don't bother with video making and recording. It's not something I do, for fun or to prove a point. I hardly have the time I wish I had to fly these days, let alone record videos and upload them to youtube or wherever. (Yesterday all I had time for was to try and do a few spins) Im tempted to try now, since it's appears that my word appears to be worthless here...
