  1. Many thanks. I disabled the launcher, so maybe if I enable it again I will get this option before Steam VR starts up. Will let you know if this works. Happy landings, Talisman Thanks. Could be last resort. Probably sounds daft, but I am not sure I have the understanding or confidence to try this though. Happy landings, Talisman
  2. I tried to get help with this too, but despite hints and tips I could not get it to work. I gave up in the end. Shame, as I thought it would be a great feature. Happy landings, Talisman
  3. Hi Gun Jam, Looking very good for me I am glad to say. I am a happy camper. Still taking baby steps, but getting better. Had a go with OpenXR, but not activated eye tracking yet and decided to stick with SteamVR for a bit. Visuals are very good. I have SteamVR resolution per eye set to 100% at the moment, giving me 4752 x 3796 @ 90 Hz and up to 90 fps on some maps, but some maps less. A fresh installation of DCS with a new PC means a lot of catching up and I am still yet to bind all keys for all of my aircraft modules and am still tinkering around with graphic settings, etc. I had a Pimax before and I noticed that I needed to set a lower IPD in DCS VR settings than before, in order for the cockpits not to look too big in scale. Now I am wearing the head strap lower at the back of the head and the headset higher on the head at the front, I have less of an issue with the mechanical IPD knob slipping on the VR1. Wont be long now and I will be back flying with my squad mates in MP. Happy landings, Talisman
  4. Hi Folks, SimShaker has been working well for me for years (currently beta 2.9.2.0), but just lately, every now and then, it has been stopping mid flight with the following message: If I click OK then it usually starts running again. Any idea what might be causing the shut down? Thanks. Happy landings, Talisman
  5. Hi Qcumber, I am using a Somnium VR1. With my old PC it took so long to open DCS, that I had time to turn off Steam VR when it popped up after I clicked the DCS desktop icon, allowing DCS time to load in flat screen mode, no problems. However, with my new faster PC, DCS starts to load so quick now that no matter how quick I am to shut down Steam VR when it pops up, I can't win and it messes up DCS as it is loading because I have just turned off Steam VR, lol. Result is that I am having to uninstall Steam each time I want to work on DCS in flat screen mode, otherwise I can't get DCS to launch as I want it. LOL Happy landings, Talisman P.S. This is a problem even though I have my VR headset turned off, completely disconnected, unplugged and my lighthouse also unplugged/disconnected.
  6. Many thanks SharpeXB. But not sure this will help me as I did not purchase DCS through Steam. Happy landings, Talisman
  7. Hi Folks, Just got a new PC and am fresh downloading everything from scratch. Searched the internet, but can't find a definitive solution to stop Steam VR from launching when I want to run DCS without VR. This did not happen with my old rig, but something seems to have changed. This is driving me crazy, lol. What I am missing? Any hints/tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Happy landings, Talisman
  8. Thanks. Yes, I have been having issues with openXR runtime; no joy with tracking properly. I had more luck with SteamVR and actually managed to get some flying in, so will return to Steam for now. Thanks for the resolution tip. Happy landings, Talisman
  9. Yes, definitely baby steps for me, lol. I can't pretend to understand all of what you have said above yet, but I am working on it and doing lots of research. It is kind of you to take the time to help steer me in the right direction. Thank you again. I don't think I am ready for the Beta version yet, so will hold fire for now. Especially as it looks like a release version update is on the cards. Onwards and upwards. Happy landings, Talisman
  10. Brilliant. Thanks a lot. Much appreciated. P.S. What about Somnium Space Launcher? Is this needed in addition to the VR1 Tool? What are the advantages of the launcher? Happy landings, Talisman
  11. Ok, finally got it! I was so focused on running in VR that I did not think to make adjustments with VR turned off! So, as a VR only user, the procedure that worked for me to create/populate a saved games, DCS, config, view, SnapViews.lua file was as follows: Launch DCS World in flat screen mode, VR not running. Select an aircraft and spawn in on the ground. In my case the TF-51D. Go to the cockpit view settings for the selected aircraft. Note the move camera keys and the save cockpit angles key. Go back into cockpit view for the selected aircraft and use the move camera keys to alter the pilot/seat position. Then save new position using the save cockpit angles key. Close DCS World and open and check the users, name, saved games, DCS, config, view, SnapViews.lua file. The file should now appear and be populated with DCS aircraft type details all listed in type alphabetical order. As a VR only user of DCS I had not realise that the SnapViews.lua file could only be created/populated by actions in non-VR mode. Although I had used the SnapViews.lua file on my previously installed version of DCS World with VR, I had also previously used it in flat screen mode with TrackIR prior to moving over to VR; so I had taken it for granted that the file would be there no matter what. Thanks to everyone who helped me work through this. Happy landings, Talisman

  13. Thank you MAXsenna. Strange, I have had DCS for many years and have never known or used this method. Is this for when running VR or with it turned off? I have customised my centre VR key to my joystick and used that all the time. What do you mean by NumEnter? Thank you for taking the time to respond. Happy landings, Talisman
  14. Thank you speed-of-heat. Yes, snapviews folder is there but has very little in it; A10 (only aircraft listed with section [14] default VR data) and a few Migs without any section [14] default VR data, but none of the aircraft I have and fly are listed. Tried both DCS World repair options, but no joy. I will try your suggestion and delete the file hoping it will recreate. Thanks again for taking the time to respond. Happy landings, Talisman
  15. Good to read the posts above. Image is nice and clear in DCS, but the FOV seems a little smaller than I had expected. I am finding that the mechanical IPD keeps moving and slipping to a bigger setting whilst in use. Anyone else finding that? My IPD is 58, so I set the lowest I can get, 60, but then the IPD mechanism continually shifts with head movement! Trying to understand a few things. Like, is it possible to use my lighthouse tracker with Open XR without running Steam VR? Or is Steam VR always needed to be running for the lighthouse to work in association with Open XR? It would be nice to dispense with Steam VR completely if possible. Steam VR seems to cause problems with my DCS. I keep having to uninstall Steam and Steam VR in order to access DCS without Steam trying launch it in VR mode, even when I have logged out of Steam. Very time consuming and frustrating. Also, I just inadvertently found on the interned that there is something called a Somnium Space Launcher. Is this needed in addition to the VR1 Tool? What are the advantages of the launcher? Finally, I did not know that there was a beta version of the VR1 Tool, I just downloaded a version as per the standard instructional video. How do you access a beta version? Thanks. Happy landings, Talisman
  16. I have just purchased a new PC and downloaded a fresh installation of DCS World. Very disappointingly, I find that I can no longer adjust my default VR view to customize the pilot head position correctly for each aircraft type, as I used to do in the SnapViews.lua file of my previously installed, same version, of DCS World. For example, I can no longer find the SnapViews.lua file VR view data to adjust my default VR pilot head position correctly in the TF-51D or any other aircraft that I own. Please see the attached image showing a short list of some of the default view VR settings that I had customised in my previous copy of DCS World. Any guidance on how I can set my custom default VR view for each aircraft so that my pilot head position is set to the correct position each time I spawn into an aircraft (and each time I press the 'Recentre VR Headset button in the UI layer') would be greatly appreciated. I used to have all this sussed out, but it seems things have changed. Have I been doing it all wrong or is there a better procedure to achieve customised default VR view pilot head position that I am not aware of? Currently I find that the default VR pilot head position is typically much too far to the rear on spawn in and when the recentre VR headset button is used. Some aircraft are worse than others. I have user snap-view saving checked on. Thank you in anticipation, if you are able to help me with this issue. Happy landings, Talisman
  17. Thank you rob10. Yes, user snap-view saving is checked on. It is very unsatisfactory to suddenly lose the ability to customise my default VR view after a fresh installation of DCS World. How are other folks customising their default VR view per aircraft type? Has there been a change I am not aware of? Am I missing a trick? Happy landings, Talisman

  19. Hi Folks, I just got my Somnium vr1 visionary edition and am attempting to get things set up. My last headset was a Pimax and this is very different. Also, I have not used open xr before, so I am trying to get to grips with that too. Any set up hints and tips or warnings of potential pitfalls would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in anticipation. Happy landings, Talisman
  20. Hi Folks, I have just purchased a Somnium VR1 headset and thought I would try and find out about how to use open xr. However, starting to read from page one of this thread is doing my head in, lol. The last post here is early Dec 24, so I was wondering if there is now a more up-to-date definitive guide somewhere that I have not managed to find. Or is page one of this thread the best source? In short, what do I need to have (download?)to be able to use open xr now, what do I need to do now to use open xr and what do I need to know? Any help and guidance (sympathy, lol) would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks in anticipation. Happy landings, Talisman
  21. Thanks very much for taking the time to explain that sleighzy. Very helpful of you. Yes, I see now that it is two shortcuts. Happy landings, Talisman
  22. I recently purchased a new PC and today I downloaded DCS World as a fresh installation. But why have 2 versions been downloaded to my PC? For some reason I now have a copy of DCS World and also a second copy named DCS World MT? I thought there was just one version of DCS World now? Can I delete the DCS World MT copy? Some guidance regarding this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in anticipation and happy landings, Talisman
  23. Huey needs some love. We need communication with AI crew members; navigation and calling out contacts/threats, etc. And we need to see troops in the back and see them embark and disembark. After all, DCS is billed as a top flight combat flight simulation company. Happy landings, Talisman
  24. Very much agree! This is my biggest disappointment with DCS. I especially want to see troops in the back for improved immersion and to see them embark and disembark. That would be great! Transporting troops in helicopters in DCS at the moment is an exercise that totally lacks decent simulated realism with regard to actually feeling like we are moving troops/passengers. What a great shame. And this from a leading combat flight simulation company. Happy landings, Talisman
  25. Many thanks Zabuzard. Very helpful. Happy landings, Talisman
