    Great thread. Thanks. Very much agree that it would be much more immersive to have smoke moved by prop/rotor-wash. I think there is a lot of room for DCS to widen the focus on helicopter operations and the relevant associated details to improve immersion. Happy landings, Talisman

    Nice one. Should be great with your JetPad and SimShaker. I love the SimShaker feedback I get with the Huey. Looks like we are both hanging on in there with the good old GTX 1080ti. Though mine struggles a bit with the Phantom. I hope the glass cockpit we are getting in the DCS Chinook is not too demanding on the fps front. Saving up for a new all singing and dancing PC rig for next year. Happy landings, Talisman

    I have now juggled the many audio volume settings and can at last hear and understand Jester. My solution was found when I turned down the 'volume in-cockpit' setting from 100 to 60, with my 'helmet volume' set to 100. (World is set to 90 and overall volume set to 80) Hope this might help others too. P.S. Now need to turn down the Phantom AOA warning volume in the cockpit as it is ear splitting, lol. And, Jester still doesn't sound much like he is on a real radio intercom, so I would like to have better 'radio effect' for Jester voice if the developers would be so kind. Happy landings, Talisman

    I don't own speakers and use a haptic headset for all sound. The haptics are brilliant and very immersive. Just need more volume on the intercom for Jester. Not a big ask I would have thought as folks always have the option to turn down the intercom volume as required. Just need more top end volume on the intercom. Plus I find that Jester in cockpit radio effects could do with some improvement as he doesn't sound much like he is on a real radio intercom. Happy landings, Talisman

    Faint coms for me too, particularly with Phantom Jester. Have intercom on max volume and hear like helmet too but Jester is still faint. I would like to turn up Jester coms but no can do! Happy landings, Talisman

    Would love to fly the Folland Gnat Fighter in DCS. Smaller than a Spitfire! Roll rate greater than 360 deg per second! Proven in combat.     Thanks SgtPappy and diego999, the reason I asked was because I saw a video that appeared to show using the ARR btn with the AIM-7 and when I gave it a go it appeared to work. But to be truthful I am not sure what really works and what should not work with the AIM-7, even after reading the manual and watching various videos from the community. In short, I am confused, lol. The video I mentioned is linked below. At time 7:50, ACM Boresight mode, the video appears to mention using the ARR btn and I think, but not sure, also uses it with auto acquisition mode, which I think is CAA, but I find the video hard to exactly understand at this point.     I struggle to hear/understand Jester sometimes even though I have the intercom turned up to max and hear like helmet activated. Please developers can you provide some increased volume allowance for Jester on the intercom so I can turn him up a bit more. Happy landings, Talisman

    Thankyou Cat107. So in the Phantom I can mostly ignore the Hawk call as it is friendly and no threat? Are Jester threat calls linked to the threats listed in the briefing I wonder. Or does he just call them out as a matter of course? Happy landings, Talisman

    Sorry if this is a daft question, but can the ARR button be used to help deploy the AIM-7? I am finding it hard to find a specific reference to all of the possible uses/functions of the ARR button in addition to refueling. Happy landings, Talisman

    From pilot position. Left clicking on the right side area window brings up some annoying (immersion breaking) black rectangles and holding left click down the pencil will not work. Trying to get rid of the annoying black rectangles at the top and right side is difficult and very hit and miss. I saw a video of someone saying left click on the 'green area' at the front right, but I have no idea what this 'green area' is? The DCS manual makes it sound so simple but so far I can't get it to work as advertised. Is there some sort of magic I and nightflyer23 are missing? I did get the pencil to operate once, but not sure how and still there were annoying black rectangles appearing that appeared to be trying to provide some sort of menu options but were not helpful or useable. Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Happy landings, Talisman

    Hi Folks, Perhaps someone can help me to hear and understand Jester. My problem is that his voice is not loud enough for me to always hear and understand him. I have the intercom volume set to maximum in the cockpit and hear like wearing helmet selected under the audio settings, but still he is not loud enough. Am I missing something? Do others find him not loud enough? Any tips would be gratefully received. P.S. I also don't think he sounds like he is speaking on a radio intercom. I think he would benefit from a better 'radio effect' as it lacks immersion in this respect for me at the moment. Happy landings, Talisman

    Thanks for posting. Thought it was just me. I too am unable to get the blasted grease pencil to work despite reading the manual and watching a video. I am using a Pimax VR headset and can't get grease pencil to work. Very frustrating. What am I missing or is there a bug? Any tips would be gratefully received. Happy landings, Talisman

    Very much agree. I am a Pimax VR user and the black dots/squares are truly awful to say the least! It is the biggest thing that puts me off DCS. For me, this combat flight sim is all about my MP experience and this issue ruins it for me. Sad thing is that it feels to me, as a customer, that DCS are not listening or they can't do anything about it. Nether of which encourage me in the long term and I fear that I am likely to drift away from DCS in the not too distant future. Happy landings, Talisman
