Excellent news! Thanks!

Thanks a lot for looking into this dimitriov. With 2.5 I'm REALLY looking forward to flying the campaign. It was already fun in 1.5.8, but now with the new beautiful and functional trees, it'll be even more fun!

Bollocks.. had a free evening today and then I messed up the update (updated another program at the same time, which rebooted my computer mid install of DCS and then got stuck into update loop... deleted the cache and repaired now and hoping everything will go smoothly now). Anyone on ED or Polychop willing to take the blame, so I can rant on your stupidity instead of facing the fact that it was my own fault? I mean, you guys must be used to that...

Would these updates happen to be in the latest 2.1.1 update (https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3264549&postcount=35), even though not mentioned in the Patch Notes?

Very happy to see Gazelle development up to speed after a long break. Really enjoying the module! Do we get the lon/lat directly for the new waypoint from NADIR then, or just the azimuth and distance?

How to avoid seizing the engine
PitbullVicious replied to The Legman's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
I noticed yesterday on the Burning Skies server that ambient temperature makes a big difference too (which is of course only logical). Could keep the engine running on +12 boost @ 2850 RPM without any overheating. All planes (engines) of course benefit from colder and denser air (at least to a point), but maybe the Spitfire will benefit relatively more than FW-190, for example, due to the cooling system? -
Thanks for the hint Gliptal. I guess me not communicating was then the thing that got him depressed. We Finns are not very good with small talk.

Just finished mission 2 and everything went smoothly until it was time to land. At that point my wingman decided that life was not worth living, but ran himself to the ground just besides me when I was landing. He didn't seem depressed during the flight, though but was chatting away cheerily.... I guess this is more of a general AI problem than problem with the mission itself. Still got 100 points.

***DCS: AJS-37 Coming to DCS: World!***
PitbullVicious replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Dear Leatherneck, With that glow coming off from the radar screen towards my crotch, should I check for lumps more regularly? (In other words: Looks bloody good!) -
A bit old post, but as I just spent few last weeks reading this rather long and interesting thread (with a lot of dedicated enthusiasm, excellent documentation and love from the Viggen fans) in its entirety. Considering the attention to details with the MiG-21bis module, I can't but to jump the hype train. Especially after that beautiful teaser that was just released. The plane itself seems very interesting. Very different from anything else in DCS at the moment, in both technology and tactics and deployment, and for me it is a big plus :) Can't wait to figure her and her systems and weapons out. And in the end, as a Finn I might be grouped together with the Swedes anyway by people looking from the other side of Pacific or from where I'm currently located. For you here're two short videos demonstrating the difference: Finns according to the Swedish: Javla svenskarna according to the Finns: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0iH6jke01k (I have nothing but love for my neighbours :D ) Men jag har glomt nastan alla min svenska... (let's see how many errors I could fit into that one simple sentence :P )

Indeed. Fixed, cheers.

I own the KA-50 but for some reason I've never learned it. Really should do. All I know is that the Gazelle seems to hold its own against it in the highly realistic manner of simulation of modern combat environment we were having ;) The point about visibility is a good one. With the very close and chaotic fights we were having, I more than once escaped by being lost by the KA-50 pilots, while maintaining visual on them. Gazelle is very good for that and that's also one of the reasons why it is really good fun with OR. Thanks :)

Me and a few guys I met at the Open Conflict server went on for some helicopter free-for-all dogfight as the OC server was down last week. I was flying the Gazelle (only guns and rockets allowed) using Oculus Rift. The Gazelle turns on a dime and is easy and accurate to manoeuvre and shoot, which secured me a few kills. Here're some of the best bits & hits from my perspective. As I was on OR, I didn't check who exactly was there, but at least Alien, Hanzino, Josh22 (?) and Half-life I think.. Thanks to everybody who joined, it was great fun! :D

I had yesterday finally a chance to test out the multicrew, me with OR trying out both roles. It was bloody marvelous. THAT'S the way that the M-model is supposed to be flown, obviously. I flew with a guy from Israel and we had no syncing problems or anything between Japan and Israel. Everything worked as smooth as possible from the multicrew point of view (the server rebooting and me flying straight into a Shilka's firing line is unfortunately not really something that I can blame on Poly-Chop :D ). I also had good fun with quite a few guys on the 78th's server. We just went on a Ka-50s vs. SA342Ls (with an Mi-8 and couple of fast movers thrown into the mix occasionally) guns & rockets free-for-all kind of dog fight mayhem. The good visibility, the accuracy and agility of the Gazelle made it a blast and very competitive to fly :) The Gazelle with all its different models and features is just incredibly fun and versatile module. Thanks Poly-Chop!

From the manual: "HUD Scan is available only when the Super 530D missiles have been selected. The radar covers the entire HUD area, a 20º wide cone."
-
Nomdeplume, microvax OK, that's good to know. Won't be bothered then :)

I had a similar experience with AI Mi-8s. I'll try to cook up a video demonstrating this and try also with other AI helicopters.

Test Flight - F-5E Tiger II Video Series
PitbullVicious replied to Bunyap's topic in Screenshots and Videos
I think it's a great idea as the sharpest focal point of the OR lenses is right in the middle, and I think that people usually tend to use much less peripheral vision or move their eyes from the centre line with OR than IRL, so you probably don't loose much cropping the extremes. I might steal that idea ;) -

Excellent videos once again, Bunyap. Am I mistaken, or have you cropped the OR videos a little from top and bottom? -
Gazelle Operation Operation Dixmude Multiplayer?
PitbullVicious replied to Manawar's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
CMPGaz<n>VEN-COOP<m>.miz? There they are :D EDIT: I guess <n> is the number of a mission, but how do these relate to the SP campaign mission numbers? <m> is the number of players? -
Gazelle Operation Operation Dixmude Multiplayer?
PitbullVicious replied to Manawar's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
To be honest, I personally wouldn't oppose if you release it like that, with a clear disclaimer hidden in small print into some obscure document burried deep in the DCS World directory structure... :music_whistling: :D But unfortunately it'll be you and ED at the short end of the stick, when people get frustrated in the way it is working, so I understand that the release decision isn't quite so straight forward. Hopefully you and ED can find a better solution soon, as this is one of the features I was really looking forward to. -
But you DID fix the grass friction problem (although I haven't tested last Friday's version if it was already on that one..) <3 :D. The multicrew is bloody impressive! It's really encouraging to see that relatively new developer team (and I don't mean that in anyway negatively, you must have some good coders on your team, judged by the quality and speed on which you are developing) can get the multicrew working so well in such a short time. The functionality will open so many new interesting opportunities, not only for Poly-Chop and Gazelle, but other developer's and DCS in general. Just out of curiousity: Have you any idea how well the multicrew framework scales to more than two people?
