The auto-centering is driving me bonkers and I don't seem to have an option to disable that in the configuration, but other than that's it's performing very smoothly by setting the response scaling to 1.00 for yaw and pitch, and then letting OpenTrack take over. If I can just kill the centering it should be fine.

I practically wet myself laughing just now. I logged in to the game to set up the tracker with the Huey, didn't notice my joystick throttle was maxed. When I left the config I slapped it back down just as the Huey was leaving the tarmac. There was a thump. And then the rotors when flying off across the airport without me :)

Nice idea! Hackers of the world unite :) I may remove the existing USB jack from the Micro and solder my old xbox controller cable directly to the board. It's long, flexible, and has that nice breakaway feature.

After waiting two weeks to find a local supplier that sells soldering stations (trying to keep money in the local economy for a change) I tracked down a TrakPower TK-950 solder station and put my EDTracker kit together. At first I couldn't get it to talk to the software but then realized the USB ports on the front of my computer are USB3. These give some weird results with the Arduino Pro Micros (not sure about the others). Once I plugged it in to the expansion USB2 ports in my monitor it interfaced with the config fine. Now to test it out in game. If anyone is building the kit instead of buying a pre-fab and need some assistance, just give a shout. PS. If you're looking for a good way to line up where the button hole should be drilled in the plastic housing, take a kneadable eraser, maptac, or playdoh and put a thin layer in the housing. Then press the completed kit into the soft surface. It will give you a template for drilling. :) Get the housing from the EDTracker shop here: http://edtracker.org.uk/index.php/shop/edtracker-diy-pcb-enclosure Also, a shout out to Hobby Components who sells the kit here: http://hobbycomponents.com/electronics/440-diy-head-tracker-bundle The pricing of their components and the shipping to Canada were *way* cheaper than you would find buying the parts from Sparkfun. Would definitely get kit there again :) ${1}

Love the docs for Operation Agile Spirit :) -

That's what I thought (about renaming the doc packages to exe as well) but it didn't work for me the first time. So I thought I was doing it wrong. I just got a new download to extract. Yay! :D (should have noticed my file was only 16K in size the first time I tried to use it) -

It would appear that I am at an impasse. I've not used mods before, so have no idea what's going on. I downloaded all 3 packages. Installed package number 1, and have files under SU25 and CA now. That part is fine. Manually put packages 2 and 3 in mission folder since the installer didn't bother with them. But if I try to select them in missions, which I assume is necessary to unlock them to get the kneeboard images out of them, nothing appears to happen. Sorry to be a pain. -

Installation of the main campaign is painless and shows up under the SU-25 campaign :) But I'm not sure how to use the Miz files for the docs. I didn't see anything in the instructions that applied to them. Do they get loaded from Missions instead of campaigns and then unlock into accessible files? -

Sure thing. :) I'm not a big fan of hardware locked key systems, but I've been a dev and I know where you're coming from. Looking forward to having fun with the mission :) -

Ouch. I saw this and bought it immediately. The key management looks to be a huge pain in the butt though. If I change my hardware config I'm going to have to contact you for a new one? What happens if you get out of the mod business and I upgrade but want the missions? (I expect I'll have already gotten my use out of them prior to that, but I'm curious for future missions I'll want to procure) -
Entertaining :)

What was that? It cut you off. edit: Found it. Fail Safe, with Noah Wyle. Released in 2000.

What kind of Headtracking system are you using?

Cool :) I have an iPod touch wall adaptor that should power the USB nicely. I don't have the resistor though. No LEDs except for some cylindrical ones I got as lights for my camper. I wonder what I can tear apart around here :) -

Mano: The VX-800 is what I picked up last night. What are you using to power the LEDs? An arduino? And what did you cut the mount from? :) -

Wow. I wish I knew about EdTracker last night! I spent 20 bucks on a cheap webcam on the classifieds, and set it up with FaceTrackNoir today. Works okay on the A10. Can't get it working with the Bf109 yet. Definitely going to get an EdTracker kit or components soon :) -
Oh yeah, I use unblock-us.com to get to the American content.

52 minutes in, and I've gotta say that it's a pretty tense bit of production. Definitely worth watching.

Just started watching this movie on NetFlix. It's not so much a movie as a simulation of flight recorder transcripts. Crew members sitting in a dark studio acting out the block box. Figured it would be perfect for this crowd :)

Manually editing your monitor config works well. You can set your MFDs to 512 resolution and that will be fine :) Here is a sample of what I had with my 1280x1024 monitor sitting beside the main 1920x1280. _ = function(p) return p; end; name = _('My settings'); Description = 'MFCDs on the left screen and camera on the primary' Viewports = { Center = { x = 1280; y = 0; width = 1920; height = 1200; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = 1.77; } } LEFT_MFCD = { x = 0; y = 340; width = 512; height = 512; } RIGHT_MFCD = { x = 768; y = 340; width = 512; height = 512; } UIMainView = Viewports.Center -
Can't see one from here. We're getting our second blizzard of the week. Making the total snow that's fallen on us about 100 cm since Saturday. Whee. Waaaay back in 1982, on my 10th birthday, the whole sky pulsed and shimmered with white auroras. It was the coolest aurora show I've seen. Topped only by two massive fireballs.

I'd expect that the engineering teams designed it for batteries, capacitors, and other systems that will just keep on chugging along.
-
Congrats to the team :) There's some pretty cool other stuff on there too.

I just checked and my 19 year old ICQ account still works. I don't know anyone who uses ICQ any more, but I've heard that it's popular in Eastern Europe and Russia. It's a 6 digit account that starts with a 1. (I was in the beta) If someone wants it, since it's a heck of a lot easier to give people a six digit ID just post here. No strings. Not selling it. I just have no use for it. Figured the flight sim community is a friendlier bunch of folks to give something like this away in :)

Whether it's Dead Kennedys, Lard, or his work with bands like the Melvins, I get a kick out of Jello Biafra. Video is one of my dogs when he was younger.
