Dcs World 1.2.3 and the missing export.lua
Loz replied to Manuel's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
If that's the case then all I can suggest is you double check you Monitor Setup ......lua file and make sure that it is this one that you select in the options menu. -
Dcs World 1.2.3 and the missing export.lua
Loz replied to Manuel's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I can only guess that DCS has done an update that maybe you missed. Make sure to copy and paste the "_backup.00?" folder contents directly into the DCS World Directory allowing it to overwrite files and folders. -
Using large screen LCD TV to play PC flight sim games
Loz replied to ozTRipwiRE's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
One thing not been mentioned in all of this, 40 inch TVs are, IMHO, rubbish when you use them for general windows use. That's my "personal opinion" having tried one for DCS and didn't like it at all compared to my triple Dell 24 inch IPS setup. :) -
Just beautiful and such a fitting way to commemorate such bravery on the part of the crews and sheer ingenuity from Sir Barnes Wallis.
-
Watch out, you could get jailed for producing these. Seriously though Good work.
-
Got mine but on my fourth attempt at d/ling 1.2.4 :(
-
Unless it was part of Oculus Rift, and DCS was optimized for it. LOL ;) Oops Duck as I get Subliminal's hopes worked up. :drink:

Don't bother with the GTX690 specifically for DCS as I'm pretty sure (someone here will have one and will correct me if I'm wrong) that it will only use one of the GPU's. DCS does not scale well with multi GPU's. And if you are serious about 6 screens (although you'll want a new CPU if you want any decent framerates with that amount of resolution) think carefully about what GPU you do get. Not many will manage 6 screens at the moment. With the eventual arrival of a display port Hub (if ever) then more would be capable but going beyond 4/5 monitors requires some seriousl kit.
-
LOL I already said that in my post !!! So Jay it looks like you'll probably have to get another GPU if you want triple screens. :(

First thing to do is find out the make and model of your graphics card. Easiest way is to take the side off and have a look. Also check how many outputs are on the back of the card. Failing that download and install GPUZ here It's a small program that shows all the details of your GPU. Open up Windows System Information and it will tell you what type of Processor you have and how much RAM is in there. Just Type in the search area under the start button "system information" That will give you a lot of the info that you need. The easiest setup by far is a straight forward landscape using 3 monitors. You can always try portrait after that. Been some pretty outrageous suggestions about what to buy (cause you mentioned money is not a problem and some get a bit excited about that LOL) I would recommend some reasonable priced IPS monitiors. These from Overclockers are great value, have a small bezel and probably more importantly are IPS monitors. These give better colour and clarity than standard TPN monitors and give a far better off angle view, which is important when using 3 together where you are going to angle inwards the outer two. I can certainly recommend these as my son has just bought a second one. On the other hand if you want to go silly with your money these 27inch 2560x14440 would be really nice especially in portrait. Hey but if you are going that far then why not get a fourth like mine and make it a touchscreen monitor as well. That would really make it a sim and get your missus going. LOL But seriously you could spend buckets on Monitors and displays but unless you've got a seriously fast CPU you'd be wasting your money and time as DCS would run like a slide show.

Sorry but I have to say you have a remarkably annoying way of asking for help here where we have an amazingly tolerant and helpful community. Eg: "Seriously back off dude" If you were to take the time to reread your posts you might see what I mean! You are obviously referring to signatures such as mine & suggesting that it's size & placement is a means of bragging. And if that is so then it's you that needs to grow up! For forum members like myself who have posted many setups, videos & profiles, it is a sensible way to avoid the oft repeated "what GPU/CPU/MONITOR etc etc" are you using? So rather than take shots at people who are trying to help (and may well not be using their native language) try using the sig format to investigate your setup and help people to help you. Windows System Information has many of the answers. What is the point of buying 3 moitors if you don't know what graphics card you have as not all can run Multi monitors, & some of those that can will be brought to their knees by DCS. Hope this is helpful overall!

Sorin is correct in that TV's do not have the resolution on their own, and that is where multi monitors score. Three times 2560 x 1440 is a lot of resolution though and will bring most PCs to there knees in DCS. Remember that DCS will have to use only use one GPU to do that even with Crossfire / SLI. More affordably 1920 x either 1200 or 1080 monitors would cost less and need less power to run at a reasonable FPS. The debate over Landscape or portrait is very much personal preference. I haven't run a Portrait setup but I can see that it would be better for an Air to Air engagement, whereas I think landscape is better for a ground attack scenario. Of late I've been running the Mustang using SoFTH to project onto 4 monitors in a Tee shape with the benefit that the lower monitor is a touchscreen enabling button pushing within the cockpit area.

Looking for one Mod for colored the front canopy...
Loz replied to Skulleader's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Paulrkriii should be able to answer this with the correct reason, but my wild guess is that it is Gold film on or in the glass used for windscreen heating?? :) -
Anyone wants a free (+shipping) full color printed manual?
Loz replied to recoilfx's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Such a shame that's US only. I'd be there in a flash otherwise. :( -
Furia is having all the fun. :) Love the instrument panel shake when it decelerates through translational on the approach. Nice video. Can we play now please :)

Happy times!! As a Tutorial QHI on CFS teaching new instructors and playing the part of a crap student intending to kill them both, we used to take dreadful liberties mishandling real engine off landings over the airfield onto the EOL strip and get away with them in the Gazelle. And I'm proud to report that I never even "Franged" one. (Mind you had some close calls. LOL) After 500 feet in the Gazelle we used to close the overhead throttle and now the engine was inrecoverable until you were stationary on the ground and could slowly advance the throttle to rejoin the drive. (The frange was the tail skid effectively, made of GRP that was relatively cheap to replace if you hit the tail during the EOL) I can remember a few instructor students that were left speechless after the landing.

Hi Huggybear. You're so right about the twichness, I used to instruct on the Chinook OCU and had to intervene many times to stop an overspeed of the RPM in Auto. LOL What you will remember but many others would be unaware of. In the Chinook, if you did get the RPM outside the range of the underseat Vibration Absorbers then the seat would reverberate up and down so fast and vigorously that you could not read the instruments until you got the collective up and reduced the RPM back within the range. I can't recall now the percentage tolerance either way but it wasn't much and easy to get wrong. Not nice  Oh and by the way I served for 3 years with the RAAF 12 Sqn at Amberley on Chinooks on an exchange program. Had a ball but that was a long time ago. :pilotfly: Hi Furia Yea my memory must be failing me, as I'm an old retired B...er now. But even so the Chinook at 70 but all the others I'm pretty sure were 60 and yes it looks like we are talking about the same thing really. :)

Well in my case 40 years of flying, 20 of which was as a Helicopter pilot, 10 of which was as as A2 RAF Instructor at CFS(H) :pilotfly: But I don't want to argue with anyone, just giving the benefit of my experience, which was that for ...let me see. 1,2,3,4 ohhh 7 different Helicopters that I was certified on, the recommended speed for the entry into the Engine Out Landing phase of an autorotation was always 60 knots. Incidentally the same in the Gazelle and the Chinook!! Why at this agreed min rate of descent speed? Well the reasoning is that it gives you more time to judge the start of the flare and finalise your aim: both in speed of run on and final touch down point. If you start the flare at max range speed ie: approx 80-90 knots you have to get rid of a lot of speed. And if you run on too fast... well I don't know of any chopper that would protect you from a 20-30 knot impact with a tree or building. The only exceptions to this "aim" was zero vis ie: you might not see the ground until you are almost on top of it, and then it was 35-40 knots, with no flare but just a last minute heave on the collective to cushion the touch down. But of course the RAF might have had it all wrong. That's all from me. I'll leave these esoterics to you current Huey Pilots and developers but I do look forward to giving it a go for myself in DCS.:)
-
For Furia. I'm surprised that you don't reduce speed to 60 prior to the flare. As someone else stated that is the usual autorotation speed for most Helicopters as it gives min rate of descent and also there is then less speed to get rid of before touchdown. You don't often have a runway to touchdown on LOL. I know that you didn't want to overcomplicate things but perhaps useful to point out that the increase in RPM with increased G loading (ie pitching up) and the reverse are temporary states caused by the "coriolis effect" on the blades. (Same as ice skater increasing spin rate by pulling their arms in closer to the body) In a Huey with the high inertia in the rotors it would be very easy to overspeed the system with harsh maneuvering. Out of interest, in the Chinook you have to use really large amounts of collective pitch to prevent RRPM overspeed when turning in auto. Two rotors systems means twice the effect.

How-To: Set up a 4-screen, T-shaped display in DCS
Loz replied to GregP's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks Cowboy, yes I tried my hand at the KA-50 profile but it's very complex with all the panels that are in the cockpit and the graphics in game are not the same quality as A10C. But of course there is nothing for the Mustang (in Helios that is) Hence I am giving the SofTH another look. -
How-To: Set up a 4-screen, T-shaped display in DCS
Loz replied to GregP's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Nice one Greg. I thought that I would revisit SofTH now that I have bought the update to BS2 and the P51D, maybe a setup that would accommodate all 3 might be in order. Your guide saves me a lot of head scratching. Rep Inbound. :) -

Loz replied to Manuel's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Nice profile  Ohh and thanks to all who helped sort out this problem, certainly had me head scratching for a while. :) -
Thanks for this SkateZilla. Couldn't work out why my mouse buttons could not be bound like they used to. Disable Skype from starting up with windows and hey presto. Mouse buttons bind-able as before. :) Deserved Rep Inbound :D

I for one, shall look forward to that. LOL :) Glad you are enjoying it mate.
