  1. The first thing I noticed when firing up 2.2 with the Mirage was a far too dark cockpit. It all looks way too contrasty, with dark areas being pitch black and other areas (some lights) being so bright that they're washed out. The difference against 1.5 is very big. The Mirage has always had a pretty dark cockpit, but something is definitely not right in 2.2.
  2. That has nothing to do with it. He is clearly not running low settings. Maybe someone from ED can comment on this, since it seems strange.
  3. For a considerable time now I've had the problem that the A-10C veers to the left or right. It starts on the runway, the plane starts to drift right (or left) and then once airborne it starts to bank. No wind set in the mission editor and no other plane behaves like this under the same circumstances. Does anyone else have this problem?
  4. Funny, I've been thinking the exact same thing. When you look at the land it's easy to see that you're up at 20,000 feet, but when you look at the water you get the feeling that you're much closer. I think it's something that needs to be sorted because right now it sticks out and takes alot away from the photorealism.
  5. Did some more flying before I went to bed yesterday, and I have no second thoughts about replacing the Mirage. The Harrier has an even nicer cockpit, as well as one of the best feeling flight models right now. And the VTOL is awesome (I have to borrow that Rift from my brother ASAP). I've been waiting for the F-18, but right now I'm feeling I might stick with the Harrier instead. Content is one of the main things I look for and I'm happy Baltic Dragon is making campaigns for Razbam these days. Just imagine a Strait of Hormuz campaign in the AV-8B! Between work and small children I probably have my hands full just trying to learn this thing, so it's really no problem that the campaign probably will come late 2018 (my own guesstimate). :) Btw, Razbams cockpits are among the best in DCS, only Heatblur might edge them. The photorealism really adds to the experience compared to for example the F-86F and the F-5 which I feel looks a bit plastic in comparison.
  6. Thanks for the replies guys. Module is purchased! :) Only had time for a couple of minutes of free flight yet, but so far it looks and feels awesome! The flight model is exactly the kind I like, some inertia and good sense of actually flying. Can't wait until I can try it in VR!
  7. I'm thinking of getting the Harrier and I wonder what you guys think of it so far? I only have time to play two modules at the same time, and right now it's the Viggen and the Mirage. I'm thinking of replacing the Mirage with the Harrier, partly because it's a cooler aircraft, and also because I think DCS in its current form is better suited to ground attack. So what is your opinion?
  8. The SDE comes mostly from the use of pentile displays instead of RGB. It creates a pattern that is very distracting at lower resolutions. For some reasons the Vive is alot worse than the Rift. Either way, increasing the resolution makes the pentile pattern alot less visible. Samsungs latest flagship phones still use pentile displays, but the resolution is so high that you can't notice it anymore.
  9. I do have respect for all of the 3rd party developers. However, none of them beat Heatblur when it comes to photorealistic cockpits. Belsimteks have a plastic kind of look and not so amazing texture work, though the modules themselves are great. Razbam make really good looking cockpits, but Heatblur is on another level. The Mig-21, the Viggen and now this. Amazing!
  10. Well, my wording could maybe have been better, but still, SPAK makes alot of difference. :)
  11. u The effect of disabling SPAK was rather big in my mind. It changed the the feel completely. The plane is much, much easier to control with SPAK.
  12. Yes, that, and also that both have highly effective flight control systems.
  13. Thanks for the tip, that seems to make it better. One more question. The trim seems to be very inconsistent. Sometimes the stick barely moves and the plane is trimming very slowly. Other times it trims very fast. Is this a bug?
  14. Wow, yes that was quite a difference. I love the attention put into the flight model when you can get such a different aircraft by disabling SPAK. One more question: The aircraft seems to nose up very abruptly on take-off. Is this also how it does in real life? I need to be pretty gentle on the stick to keep good control...
  15. How close to the real deal is this module? Has it been tested and approved by real Viggen pilots? One thing I have noticed is that it feels almost like the M-2000C when banking, it's very exact. Is this like the real airplane? One would think that such an old construction would feel a bit more "loose" in the air (but I have no idea if that's the case). The Viggen sure feels very different compared to for example the F-5E. Btw, I'm starting to look into this module again. Really looking forward to the manual update and the campaign. Still hoping for a map of Sweden (I know, years away).
  16. To be fair though the Odyssey is an ordinary VR headset as I understand it. Several reviewers have remarked that the ”mixed reality” label is kind of misleading in this case.
  17. What I meant is that many people are already cranking up the PD. The Odyssey shouldn’t be much more taxing at its native resolution than cranking the PD to 1.5 with the Rift.
  18. No, ASW is of course needed. I assume that it will be implemented sooner rather than later, since it is a crucial feature to lower the hardware rquirements in VR.
  19. For the Odyssey? The resolution is not that much higher than the Rift and Vive. Considering that many already increase the pixel density, the Odyssey shouldn't be much harder to run.
  20. Yes, I think there is a good chance that this is the next Rift/Vive display. It's not plausible that it's just a display made for demo purposes. Then we also know that these displays were ready already in May (and possibly alot earlier than that). I was about to say almost the exact same thing. We will probably know more about the next gen VR headsets by CES in January.
  21. I like that things finally seem to heat up a bit in the VR industry. The last 18 months since the release of the Rift and Vive have been kind of stale. Now we have all the Windows headsets coming, and especially the Odyssey. We also have the Pimax 8K in development. It remains to be seen how good of a product it will be, but I think the extremely successful Kickstarter campaign (1.4M bucks right now) serves as a wake up call to Oculus and HTC. Continue selling them for another 2 years or so will probably not be an option. They need to react pretty soon. Oculus Connect will be very interesting next week!
  22. In the link below, what we might expect from a true next-gen VR headset (obviously with eye-tracking, otherwise I don't see it happening with that kind of resolution). That's over 4.4M pixels per eye, compared to 2.3M for the Odyssey and 1.3M for the Vive. https://www.roadtovr.com/samsungs-new-vr-display-nearly-3-5x-pixels-rift-vive/
  23. Looking at the Tested clip it seems the Odyssey might be a nice upgrade from the Rift and the Vive for DCS players. The higher resolution is clearly visible as I understand it. What we need is proper support in DCS and working ASW. It remains to be seen when that is implemented.
  24. This one mentions screen door effect (or lack of): https://www.engadget.com/2017/10/03/samsung-hmd-odyssey-hands-on/
